The 2027 GMC Yukon AT4 combines three-row seating with a V8 powertrain, four-wheel drive and equipment aimed at buyers who want something more rugged than a conventional family SUV. Its appeal depends on more than the badge, though. Seating layout, trailering packages and expensive technology options can make two AT4s quite different purchases. This guide covers the Canadian model, with the video below providing a closer look at its design and cabin.

2027 GMC Yukon models available
The Canadian Yukon lineup includes Elevation, AT4, Denali, AT4 Ultimate and Denali Ultimate. Yukon XL is the longer body style, rather than an equipment package for the regular Yukon. This article focuses on the standard-length AT4.
AT4 adds a distinctive front fascia, recovery hooks and all-terrain equipment to the family-SUV formula. AT4 Ultimate is a separate trim with a different luxury specification; an AT4 fitted with option packages does not become an Ultimate. Compare the actual equipment list before deciding whether a heavily optioned AT4 or a higher trim offers the better fit.
2027 GMC Yukon AT4 engine specifications
The standard 5.3-litre EcoTec3 V8 produces 355 hp at 5,600 rpm and 383 lb-ft of torque at 4,100 rpm. It pairs with a ten-speed automatic transmission and four-wheel drive. Canadian specifications identify direct injection, variable valve timing and Dynamic Fuel Management. These are published output figures, rather than measurements from the video.
The AT4 has an active two-speed Autotrac transfer case and a front skid plate. Its equipment also includes 20-inch wheels and all-terrain tires. Magnetic Ride Control and available Air Ride Adaptive Suspension are different systems: electronically controlled damping does not mean every AT4 has the optional height-adjustable air suspension.
Engine choice matters when comparing inventory. Canadian listings also identify the 6.2-litre V8 and 3.0-litre Duramax turbo-diesel within the Yukon equipment range. Confirm availability and package requirements for the exact AT4 being ordered; a higher trim’s engine or a diesel vehicle’s fuel figures should not be attributed to the standard 5.3-litre model.
2027 GMC Yukon AT4 towing capacity and payload
Canadian 2027 AT4 specifications list a maximum trailering capacity of 8,200 lb, approximately 3,719 kg, when appropriately equipped. That is not the rating of every AT4. A Canadian 5.3-litre example without the same trailering specification lists a 7,700-lb weight-distributing-hitch trailer limit, while an example equipped with the Max Trailering Package lists 8,200 lb.
Before matching a trailer, check the vehicle’s trailering label, hitch requirements and available payload. Passengers, luggage, accessories and trailer tongue weight all use carrying capacity. A trailer below the advertised tow ceiling can still leave too little capacity for a full family and its luggage. Use the loaded trailer weight, not just its empty weight.
Available trailering equipment includes additional camera provisions, Hitch View and Blind Zone Steering Assist with Trailering. These can help with visibility and manoeuvring, but they do not increase the vehicle’s weight limits on their own.
Fuel economy and fuel costs
Some Canadian 2027 dealer pages display 15.8 L/100 km city, 12.2 highway and 14.2 combined for the 5.3-litre configuration. Their detailed tables explicitly label those consumption figures 2026. They should therefore be treated as previous-model-year reference figures, not a verified 2027 certification.
For a provisional budget, 20,000 km at that 14.2 L/100 km reference would use about 2,840 litres. At an illustrative $1.60 per litre, that is $4,544 annually. This is a calculation using stated assumptions, not a fuel-cost prediction or a current pump-price claim. Winter use, idling, towing and the balance of city and highway travel can change the result considerably.
Interior, seating and cargo space
The AT4 can seat eight with a second-row bench or seven with second-row bucket seats. Check the configuration rather than assuming every AT4 has captain’s chairs. Perforated leather seating, heated and ventilated front seats, heated second-row outboard seats and a heated steering wheel are part of its comfort offering.
Published standard-length Yukon cargo volumes are approximately 722 litres behind the third row, 2,053 litres behind the second row and 3,477 litres behind the first row. These are rounded conversions of the listed cubic-foot figures. The largest number requires folding the rear seating; it is not the luggage space available with every passenger seat occupied.
The practical test is whether your stroller, sports bags or travel cases fit behind the third row. Check access to the rear seats with child seats installed, too. Captain’s chairs can provide a centre passage, while a bench preserves an extra seating position. For buyers regularly carrying seven or eight people and bulky luggage, the Yukon XL deserves a separate comparison.
The regular Yukon is approximately 5,337 mm long, 2,057 mm wide excluding mirrors and 1,943 mm tall. Garage checks should include mirrors, door-opening clearance and room for the liftgate, rather than relying only on the body dimensions.
Infotainment and technology
A 16.8-inch portrait-oriented Premium GMC Infotainment System is the centrepiece of the dashboard. Canadian AT4 equipment lists Google built-in compatibility, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a Bose ten-speaker audio system and an 11-inch digital Driver Information Centre. Wireless phone charging is also listed.
Connected navigation, in-vehicle apps, mobile connectivity and smartphone projection are different functions. Ask which services remain available after included trials expire, and which require a data plan or subscription. Bring your own phone to check pairing and familiar apps before purchase.
The Technology Package can add a Rear Camera Mirror and 15-inch head-up display. A power-sliding centre console depends on the specified equipment combination. Do not assume those features are standard simply because they appear on a particular dealer vehicle.
Safety and driver-assistance features
Canadian AT4 equipment listings include adaptive cruise control, front collision warning and mitigation, blind-spot monitoring, lane departure warning and lane keeping assistance. Surround-view cameras, rear parking assistance, rear pedestrian alert and rear cross-traffic-related assistance help address visibility around this large SUV.
Super Cruise is available through specified packages. Confirm that the vehicle is equipped, the applicable service period and road-coverage requirements; ordinary adaptive cruise control is not the same feature. Driver-assistance systems have operating limits and require attention. A long equipment list also does not establish a particular crash-test score for the 2027 model.
2027 GMC Yukon AT4 pricing and option packages
A Canadian dealer’s 2027 AT4 model page shows an estimated $103,449 including freight/PDI and the air-conditioning charge, before taxes and licensing. This is a dealer-published configuration estimate, not a confirmed nationwide starting price.
As a separate example, MacMaster Buick GMC lists an optioned 2027 AT4 at $117,034 before taxes and licensing, including its stated $721 administration and OMVIC fee. That vehicle includes the AT4 Premium Plus Package and second-row bucket seats. Its price should not be treated as the base AT4 price or automatically assumed to describe the vehicle in the video.
Compare itemized quotes with matching equipment. Premium Plus can bundle trailering, suspension, technology and convenience upgrades, so the price difference may involve several useful features rather than one cosmetic change. Request a clear total showing options, freight, levies, applicable taxes and dealer charges. Availability and offers can change.
Competition and buying considerations
The Chevrolet Tahoe Z71 is a useful comparison for buyers considering a similarly focused full-size SUV. The Ford Expedition Tremor is another relevant alternative when rugged equipment and family practicality are both priorities. Compare the actual seating layouts, cargo space with the third row occupied and configuration-specific towing ratings.
Within GMC’s range, an Elevation may suit buyers who primarily need passenger space, while AT4 Ultimate deserves a look when luxury equipment dominates the options list. Yukon XL addresses a different question: whether the regular body’s remaining cargo space is enough when the family is aboard.
The strongest reason to choose the AT4 is its particular combination of cabin space, four-wheel-drive hardware and trim equipment. Start with the seats and loaded towing needs you actually require, then price the packages. Browse our SUV reviews for more vehicle comparisons.
Frequently asked questions
Does the 2027 Yukon AT4 have seven or eight seats?
Both configurations are possible: eight with a second-row bench, or seven with second-row bucket seats. Confirm the individual vehicle’s layout.
Is air suspension standard on every AT4?
No. Magnetic Ride Control should not be confused with available Air Ride Adaptive Suspension. Check the package list for the vehicle being considered.
Can every AT4 tow 8,200 lb?
No. That maximum depends on equipment. The vehicle’s labels, loading, hitch arrangement and applicable trailering instructions determine the usable limit.
Are the displayed fuel-economy figures verified for 2027?
The dealer specification tables checked for this guide identify the quoted consumption figures as 2026 data. They are reference figures until matching 2027 certification is confirmed.
