The 2026 Toyota Sequoia Platinum is a seven-passenger, three-row SUV with standard hybrid power and part-time four-wheel drive. Its equipment focuses on cabin comfort, technology and towing support. This Canadian review covers the Platinum configuration rather than treating the entire Sequoia range as one specification.

Watch our walkaround below for a closer look. Specifications and pricing were independently researched using Toyota Canada and Natural Resources Canada.

Canadian Sequoia models and seating choices

The Canadian 2026 lineup includes SR5 TRD Off Road, Limited Nightshade, TRD Pro, Platinum, Platinum with Towing Mirrors, Capstone and Capstone with Towing Mirrors. SR5 TRD Off Road and Limited Nightshade seat eight with a second-row bench. TRD Pro, Platinum and Capstone configurations seat seven with second-row captain’s chairs.

If you need eight seats, Platinum is therefore the wrong Canadian configuration. New 2026 changes include leather upholstery on the entry and Limited models, Wave Maker paint for TRD Pro and a Shale interior option on Capstone. Those changes should not be presented as Platinum-only upgrades.

2026 Sequoia Platinum engine specifications

Engine bay of the 2026 Toyota Sequoia Platinum

The i-FORCE MAX 3.4-litre twin-turbo V6 hybrid produces a combined 437 horsepower and 583 lb-ft of torque. A ten-speed automatic and part-time four-wheel drive are standard. This is a self-charging hybrid rather than a plug-in model, so it does not need a charging cable.

All Canadian Sequoias share the hybrid powertrain. Platinum’s price premium primarily buys equipment and cabin appointments rather than a different engine-output rating.

Sequoia Platinum towing and payload

Rear cargo area of the 2026 Toyota Sequoia Platinum

Toyota’s current Canadian 2026 product summary lists Platinum towing at 4,087 kg (9,010 lb). Use this trim-specific reference rather than the higher headline figures from other grades. The final permitted trailer weight also depends on vehicle loading and the manufacturer’s instructions.

The comparison sheet gives a calculated payload of 640 kg (1,411 lb). That figure is for comparison; the driver’s doorjamb load label governs the actual vehicle. Passengers, luggage, accessories and trailer tongue weight all use this allowance. Plan the payload budget before treating a nominal tow rating as a suitable loaded trailer size.

Platinum includes an integrated trailer brake controller, heavy-duty hitch receiver, Trailer Backup Guide with Straight Path Assist, adaptive variable suspension and load-levelling rear height-control air suspension. Power-extendable towing mirrors belong to the separately named towing-mirror configuration.

Toyota specifies a suitable weight-distributing hitch when gross trailer weight exceeds 2,268 kg (5,000 lb). Air suspension does not increase the vehicle’s weight limits. Confirm the full hitch and trailer-brake requirements before towing.

2026 Sequoia Platinum fuel economy

The 2026 NRCan guide rates Sequoia 4WD at 12.6 L/100 km city, 10.5 highway and 11.7 combined, on regular gasoline. Toyota lists an 85-litre fuel tank.

For an annual fuel budget, 20,000 km at the official combined rating equals approximately 2,340 litres. Multiply that quantity by your expected fuel price. This calculation is a planning example rather than consumption measured in our walkaround. Loads, towing and winter conditions can change actual fuel use.

Sequoia Platinum interior and cargo

Platinum includes leather upholstery, heated and ventilated front and second-row seats, front-seat massage functions, driver memory, a heated steering wheel and a power-adjustable steering column. Three-zone automatic climate control, ambient lighting and a panoramic moonroof complete the main comfort equipment.

The third row slides and reclines, with an adjustable cargo shelf system helping organize the space behind it. Seat position affects the balance between passenger room and luggage space. Try your luggage with the third row positioned for the people who will actually use it; one headline cargo figure would not show that compromise.

Platinum’s seven-seat layout is particularly relevant for buyers who prefer separate second-row chairs. A three-row family vehicle also needs to accommodate your child seats, access requirements and bags at the same time, so check those arrangements before deciding on the trim.

Infotainment and convenience

The reviewed grade has a 14-inch Toyota Multimedia screen and 14-speaker JBL audio, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a digital instrument display, wireless phone charging and a digital rearview mirror. A head-up display is listed for Capstone rather than Platinum in the Canadian comparison sheet.

Connected services include remote access, safety assistance and cloud-based navigation, with service-specific trials and subscriptions. Toyota’s Canadian materials list three-year Remote Connect and Drive Connect trials and five-year minimum Safety Connect and Service Connect trials. Confirm current terms and cellular requirements on the vehicle.

Power running boards and a hands-free power liftgate are useful convenience features. Toyota notes that some rear-mounted accessories may require disabling the liftgate’s kick sensor, so check compatibility when adding towing equipment.

Safety features on the 2026 model

Standard Toyota Safety Sense 2.5 includes pre-collision assistance with pedestrian and bicycle detection, left-turn intersection support, adaptive cruise control, Lane Departure Alert with Steering Assist, Lane Tracing Assist and automatic high beams.

Platinum also includes Blind Spot Monitoring with Rear Cross Traffic Alert and Rear Cross Traffic Brake, Intuitive Parking Assist with Auto Braking, Panoramic View Monitor and eight airbags. The camera equipment is distinct from the Multi-Terrain Monitor listed on off-road configurations. These assistance features should not be mistaken for a verified crash-test score.

Exterior size and Platinum equipment

Toyota lists a length of 5,284 mm, width of 2,022 mm and ground clearance of 221 mm for Platinum. Its 20-inch wheels, triple-beam LED headlights and sequential LED rear lights help distinguish it from the entry grade.

Use the width with mirrors and the space needed for opened doors when measuring a garage. Vehicle length alone also does not account for a trailer hitch, roof accessories or the clearance needed to load the rear cargo area.

2026 Sequoia Platinum pricing in Canada

Toyota Canada’s August 7, 2025 launch reference lists C$99,250 MSRP for Platinum and C$103,544 estimated vehicle price. Platinum with Towing Mirrors is listed at C$99,565 MSRP and C$103,922 estimated vehicle price.

The estimate includes freight/PDI, air-conditioning charge and listed maximum dealer and other fees, while excluding taxes, licence, insurance and registration. Treat these as dated manufacturer references; obtain a current itemized quote for colours, accessories, incentives and financing.

At launch, Limited Nightshade was C$88,270 MSRP and Capstone C$102,562. The buying question is whether Platinum’s seat equipment, suspension and towing technology justify its added cost for your household.

Competition and buying considerations

Research alternatives such as the Ford Expedition Platinum, Chevrolet Tahoe High Country, GMC Yukon Denali and Nissan Armada Platinum Reserve. Match Canadian seating configurations, towing equipment, cargo layout, fuel requirements and current transaction prices before comparing value.

Platinum offers a substantial comfort and technology package without moving to Capstone’s wheel and interior treatment. Its main compromises on paper are the seven-seat limit, purchase price and the need to balance third-row seating with cargo. If you require eight seats or normally carry bulky luggage with every row occupied, check another Sequoia grade and competing SUVs carefully.
