Models and body styles available

The standard-length 2026 range consists of Grand Wagoneer, Limited Altitude, Upland, 85th Anniversary Edition, Limited Reserve and Summit Obsidian. The longer Grand Wagoneer L is a separate configuration. Its extra length increases cargo capacity but changes fuel consumption, dimensions and some capability figures. This article covers the standard-length Summit Obsidian.

Engine specifications and suspension

The 3.0-litre Hurricane twin-turbo inline-six is the standard-output version, with 420 hp and 468 lb-ft. An eight-speed automatic and four-wheel drive are included. It has engine stop/start and uses regular gasoline. Higher-output specifications from older Grand Wagoneer model years should not be substituted for this 2026 trim.

Summit Obsidian includes Quadra-Lift air suspension and adaptive damping. The standard rear axle ratio is 3.55; the heavy-duty towing package changes it to 3.92 and adds a two-speed on-demand transfer case. The presence of air suspension alone does not establish the vehicle’s maximum trailer rating.

Towing and carrying capacity

Jeep’s base Summit Obsidian comparison lists 2,735 kg (approximately 6,030 lb) of towing capacity. The broader Grand Wagoneer range advertises up to 4,536 kg (10,000 lb) when properly equipped. That range maximum must not be assumed for a base Summit Obsidian or an unspecified vehicle.

The optional Heavy-Duty Trailer-Tow Package was listed at $2,495 in the Canadian builder. It includes the 3.92 axle, two-speed transfer case, electronic rear limited-slip differential, trailer brake controller, trailer light monitoring, hitch zoom and Blind-Spot Monitoring with Trailer Detection. Confirm the completed build’s tow rating, tongue-weight limits and required hitch setup before selecting a trailer.

The comparison page lists a 599-kg payload reference. Factory options, accessories, occupants, luggage and trailer tongue weight affect the actual remaining load allowance. Use the vehicle’s certification and load labels when calculating capacity.

Fuel economy

For the standard-length Summit Obsidian, Jeep lists 14.2 L/100 km city, 10.4 highway and 12.5 combined, with regular gasoline and a 100.3-litre tank. Grand Wagoneer L’s figures differ and should not be used for this body style.

At 20,000 km annually, 12.5 L/100 km represents approximately 2,500 litres of gasoline. This is a planning calculation from the official combined estimate; weather, towing, load and trip patterns can increase real consumption.

Safety and assistance systems

The Canadian Summit comparison includes Adaptive Cruise Control with Stop and Go, Active Lane Management, Blind-Spot Monitoring and intersection collision mitigation. ParkSense with Stop and Side Distance Warning covers front, rear and side parking areas. Jeep’s 2026 safety information also identifies standard intersection assistance, traffic-sign recognition and drowsy-driver detection, alongside forward-collision and pedestrian/cyclist braking technology.

Front airbags, front-seat side airbags and curtain airbags for all three rows are included, as are stability control with anti-rollover, traction control, anti-lock braking and tire-specific pressure monitoring. Jeep Connect can provide emergency assistance when activated and supported by coverage. Driver-assistance functions require supervision and have operating limits.

Exterior, wheels and dimensions

Obsidian detailing includes black exterior accents, Titanium grille and window-trim treatments, and 22-inch polished aluminum wheels with black pockets. The included tires are 285/45R22XL all-seasons. LED lighting, heated mirrors, rain-sensing wipers and power running boards feature in the trim specification.

The standard-length vehicle measures approximately 5,489 mm long and 2,123 mm wide, with a 3,124-mm wheelbase. Jeep’s published overall height is approximately 2,027 mm. Air-suspension position affects clearance and height, so allow sufficient margin when assessing a garage or parking structure.

The panoramic roof covers the first and second rows with a fixed glass section above the third row. Obsidian styling does not mean every exterior surface is black: Bright White and several other paint colours are available, with a black-painted roof offered in the builder.

Interior, seating and cargo

Third-row bench seating in the 2026 Jeep Grand Wagoneer Summit Obsidian

Standard seating is seven passengers in a 2+2+3 arrangement. The optional 8-Passenger Seating Package, listed at $795, substitutes a second-row bench. Buyers needing eight places should confirm that package on the order rather than relying on the model name.

Summit Obsidian’s key equipment includes premium Nappa leather-trimmed seats, seatback massage for both front occupants and front-seat adjustment marketed as 24-way including four-way lumbar. First- and second-row seats have heating and ventilation, while four-zone temperature control gives the rear cabin separate adjustment. The steering wheel is heated, and seat memory covers the driver and front passenger.

A power-folding/reclining third row and hands-free power liftgate provide cargo access. The standard-length model’s published maximum cargo volume is approximately 2,668 litres. The longer L’s approximately 3,305-litre maximum should not be used for this vehicle. Jeep lists about 1,085 mm of second-row legroom and 930 mm in the third row.

Infotainment and passenger technology

Uconnect 5 NAV with a 12-inch touchscreen is the included central system. Navigation and smartphone connectivity accompany Bluetooth, SiriusXM with 360L and wireless phone charging. The Canadian trim comparison lists 19 speakers; Jeep’s available McIntosh MX950 system uses that speaker count.

Summit Obsidian includes a front passenger interactive display. Jeep identifies this display as 10.25 inches and describes access to passenger entertainment, navigation and camera functions. Lower comfort screens, a head-up display, a digital rearview mirror and rear-seat monitoring appear in the broader technology offering; check the actual equipment list when those features are essential.

The Rear-Seat Entertainment Group was a separate $2,695 option in the builder. Jeep’s system uses two 10.1-inch touchscreens with Amazon Fire TV capability. Streaming requires compatible connectivity, accounts and any relevant subscriptions; the package does not include every streaming service.

Canadian pricing

The Ontario builder displayed $123,848 before discounts for a Bright White Summit Obsidian with no added selections. After $2,500 Consumer Cash, its estimated cash amount was $121,348 CAD, with the sales-tax checkbox off. These are the builder’s displayed amounts, rather than an equipment-only MSRP or a final dealer quotation.

The model selector showed starting cash amounts of $90,085 for Grand Wagoneer, $92,790 for Limited Altitude, $94,190 for Upland, $96,290 for 85th Anniversary Edition and $100,948 for Limited Reserve. Those references reflect the site’s applicable discounts. Option packages, paint, tax treatment and dealer charges can alter the final amount.

Useful option references are $795 for eight-seat accommodation, $2,495 for heavy-duty towing and $2,695 for rear entertainment. These choices address different needs, so compare a completed configuration with similarly equipped competitors. Ask for an itemized quote identifying freight, levies, any applicable luxury-tax surcharge and sales tax.

Competition

Cadillac Escalade, Lincoln Navigator and GMC Yukon Denali Ultimate are relevant full-size luxury-SUV comparisons. BMW X7 is another premium three-row alternative with different exterior dimensions and packaging. Compare standard-length bodies consistently, then look at long-wheelbase versions separately if space behind the third row matters most.

Within Jeep’s range, Limited Reserve may suit shoppers who want premium equipment at a lower starting amount. Summit Obsidian’s additional front-seat adjustment, massage, rear-seat ventilation, passenger display and interior finish should be weighed against the price difference. Towing and eight-seat needs still require attention to the selected options.
