2026 Ford F-150 Tremor 402A vs 2026 Silverado 1500 LT Trail Boss: Canadian Rear Lockers, Tires and Comfort

The 2026 Ford F-150 Tremor and 2026 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 LT Trail Boss deserve more than a lift-and-tire comparison. Their rear-locker approaches differ, and a carefully specified Ford can carry a comfort package that is not implied by the Tremor name alone.

This Canadian guide uses a documented Tremor 402A, 3.5-litre EcoBoost, SuperCrew 4×4 with a 5.5-foot box. The Chevrolet is ordinary LT Trail Boss, not Custom Trail Boss or ZR2. Checked October 30, 2026; manufacturer-specification analysis, not a back-to-back road or trail test.

Electronic versus automatic rear locking

Ford lists an electronic rear locker on Tremor. Chevrolet lists an automatic locking rear differential, two-speed Autotrac, Z71 equipment and a two-inch factory lift for LT Trail Boss. Sources: Ford Canada Tremor information; Chevrolet Canada LT Trail Boss specifications.

Ask each dealer to demonstrate how the rear differential operates and explain the permitted conditions. Driver-selected electronic locking and automatic locking are not merely different names for identical controls. Neither description proves a front locker or guarantees that the truck is suitable for every trail.

Avoid transferring ZR2 hardware to LT Trail Boss. Define the traction and protection equipment you actually need, then verify it on the order sheet.

Match the chosen engines

The selected Ford Canada record confirms a 3.5-litre EcoBoost and ten-speed automatic. LT Trail Boss starts with TurboMax at 310 hp and 430 lb-ft with an eight-speed; Chevrolet lists optional 5.3-litre V8, 6.2-litre V8 and Duramax diesel alternatives with ten-speeds. Sources: Ford Canada configuration record; Chevrolet engine availability.

Ford’s general model information contains conflicting default-engine descriptions, so this guide does not call the selected engine standard or assert a horsepower winner. If a Chevrolet alternative is your preference, compare its complete quote rather than using its performance with the standard truck’s price.

The tires in the photograph may not be the tires in the quote

Tremor lists 18-inch wheels with all-terrain tires. The current Canadian LT Trail Boss card lists 20-inch wheels and available Goodyear Wrangler Territory MT tires. Sources: Ford wheel/tire information; Chevrolet trim equipment.

Check the exact tire model, load specification and option codes. Do not import the Custom Trail Boss 18-inch setup or assume every LT Trail Boss has the optional mud-terrain tires. Wheel diameter alone does not establish grip, ride or value; budget replacements for the actual fitment.

Comfort equipment needs a package match

The documented Tremor 402A includes heated and ventilated front seats, heated rear seats and steering wheel, a 360-degree camera and adaptive cruise. Those are verified configuration features, not a statement about every Tremor. Source: Ford Canada vehicle equipment.

Have the Chevrolet quote identify the comfort and camera functions you want before comparing cost. Do not assume LT Trail Boss cannot be equipped appropriately, or that its badge includes every desired feature. Sit in both cabins with your regular passengers and test rear access and storage.

Road use and loads still matter

Drive representative roads in the actual tire configurations. Compare noise, steering response and ride without claiming that a suspension brand or lift figure guarantees superiority. Check entry height and parking clearance, especially if the truck must fit an existing garage or work space.

For towing, obtain the actual loading labels and configuration-specific trailer limits. Include passengers, accessories, cargo and tongue load, and confirm hitch, controller and connectors. Off-road equipment and trailer-assistance features do not make model-family maxima apply to every build. Ford’s 2026 Canadian F-150 towing guide requires a weight-distribution system for trailers weighing more than 5,000 lb.

Request itemized quotes showing the engines, equipment groups, freight, fees, taxes and incentive eligibility. Use exact-build EnerGuide information for fuel budgeting and compare borrowing totals if financing.

The verdict

Start with the selected Tremor 402A if its electronic rear locker and documented comfort package match your priorities. Start with LT Trail Boss if its automatic rear-locker approach or a particular optional engine better fits your use. Decide from the complete equipment list and actual driving experience, not a trail photograph.
