The 2024 cabin update

Chevrolet’s Canadian announcement identifies a 13.4-inch centre display and 12.3-inch driver display on LT and higher trims for the 2024 HD update. Canadian 2024 interior announcement. The larger display layout is therefore not unique to High Country.

Seating and equipment

The Canadian LT catalogue illustrates cloth bench, cloth bucket and leather seating configurations. Canadian 2024 LT catalogue. That range is a reminder to check the actual seat and package selection: the trim name alone does not establish the interior fitted to a particular truck.

Gasoline and diesel choices

GM’s Canadian 2024 fleet guide specifies a 6.6-litre gasoline V8 at 401 hp and 464 lb-ft, and a 6.6-litre Duramax diesel V8 at 470 hp and 975 lb-ft. Both use an Allison ten-speed automatic. Canadian HD powertrain specifications.

The identical displacement does not identify fuel type. Confirm the engine on the actual truck and compare service history and ownership costs. Do not assume LT means diesel, or transfer the engine specification from a Silverado 1500 with the same trim name.

Towing and payload

Chevrolet publishes separate Canadian 2024 Silverado 2500HD conventional and fifth-wheel/gooseneck tables, qualified by configuration. Exact-year Canadian trailering tables. Match the row, footnotes and individual loading label before selecting a trailer.

Passengers, tools, accessories and hitch or pin weight all contribute to loading. A higher trim does not automatically provide a higher usable payload. Avoid using a 3500HD maximum, and do not substitute a gooseneck capacity for a conventional-trailer rating.

Fuel and ownership

Light-duty Silverado fuel-consumption ratings do not apply to the HD truck. NRCan explains that some heavy pickups are outside mandatory fuel-consumption testing. Canadian testing coverage.

Who should consider LT?

Start with LT if the truck’s work configuration matters more than premium cabin finishes. Compare an optioned LT with LTZ only after identifying the seats and convenience features you actually require. A lower initial price does not guarantee a lower final quote after options.
