All-terrain tires, grey 18-inch wheels and orange TrailSport details give the 2026 Honda CR-V TrailSport Hybrid a different purpose from the leather-trimmed models above it. The main buying question is whether that combination is worth $1,400 more than the Sport Hybrid, or whether the same amount spent moving from TrailSport to EX-L would be more useful inside the cabin.
This guide covers the Canadian TrailSport Hybrid featured in our video, including its hybrid powertrain, equipment, fuel economy, cargo space and Canadian launch pricing.

Models available
The Canadian 2026 CR-V range includes LX 2WD, LX AWD, Sport AWD, Sport Hybrid, TrailSport Hybrid, EX-L Hybrid and Touring Hybrid. The four hybrid versions have standard all-wheel drive. TrailSport is new to the refreshed lineup; it does not mark the arrival of an entirely new CR-V generation.
Canadian trim comparison
These are Canadian launch MSRPs published by Honda on May 28, 2025, before freight and PDI, taxes, applicable fees, levies, duties, premium colours, insurance, licensing and registration. They provide a consistent model-year comparison, not a current dealer quotation or the price of the vehicle in the video.
| Canadian trim | Launch MSRP (CAD) | Difference vs TrailSport | Standard equipment and distinctions |
|---|---|---|---|
| LX 2WD | $36,975 | $10,325 less | 1.5-litre turbo, front-wheel drive and 17-inch steel wheels. |
| LX AWD | $39,775 | $7,525 less | The LX alternative with all-wheel drive. |
| Sport AWD | $43,375 | $3,925 less | Turbo engine; moonroof, power tailgate and heated leather-wrapped steering wheel. |
| Sport Hybrid AWD | $45,900 | $1,400 less | Hybrid powertrain with 18-inch all-season tires. |
| TrailSport Hybrid AWD — reviewed trim | $47,300 | Reference | All-terrain tires, grey 18-inch alloys and TrailSport fabric seats. |
| EX-L Hybrid AWD | $48,700 | $1,400 more | Leather-trimmed seating, driver memory and heated rear outboard seats. |
| Touring Hybrid AWD | $51,200 | $3,900 more | 19-inch wheels, Bose 12-speaker audio and Google built-in. |
The trims take different directions rather than simply adding every feature from the row above. EX-L and Touring return to all-season tires, for example. For a buyer choosing between the three middle hybrid grades, Sport Hybrid saves $1,400, TrailSport adds its tire-and-appearance package, and EX-L spends the next $1,400 on cabin equipment. Honda Canada’s launch prices and Canadian equipment sheet establish this comparison.
Engine and transmission
A 2.0-litre four-cylinder and Honda’s two-motor hybrid system deliver a combined 204 horsepower and a published 247 lb-ft torque rating. The TrailSport uses an electro-continuously variable transmission and standard Real Time AWD. It has the same quoted output as the other CR-V hybrid trims, so the TrailSport premium does not buy more horsepower.
TrailSport equipment and drive modes
Continental CrossContact ATR all-terrain tires in 235/60R18 size are the main mechanical distinction. Exterior details include silver lower-bumper garnishes and orange badges, while the cabin gets TrailSport seat branding and all-season floor mats. Honda also updated low-speed traction management on the AWD range for 2026. Source: Honda Canada’s TrailSport launch details.
The selectable modes are ECON, Normal, Sport and Snow. Honda’s Canadian sheet lists approximately 208 mm of unloaded ground clearance, essentially the same as the other AWD trims. The silver lower-bumper detail is a garnish rather than a documented structural skid plate.
Fuel economy
Honda publishes Government of Canada ratings of 6.3 L/100 km city, 7.2 highway and 6.7 combined for the TrailSport Hybrid. The other three hybrid trims are rated at 6.0 city, 6.9 highway and 6.4 combined. These are standardized comparison figures, not consumption measured in this review.
At an illustrative 20,000 km a year, the 0.3 L/100 km combined difference represents 60 litres. Multiply that by your assumed fuel price to estimate the annual difference: at an example $1.60 per litre, it is $96. That is a budgeting calculation, not a fuel-price forecast or a guarantee of real-world savings.
Interior, seating and cargo
The TrailSport has five seats with fabric upholstery, heated front seats and a heated leather-wrapped steering wheel. The rear seat splits 60/40. Honda lists 1,028 litres of cargo space with the rear seats up and 2,030 litres with them down. The larger figure requires giving up rear seating positions.
Leather-trimmed upholstery, driver-seat memory and heated rear outboard seats are reasons to consider the EX-L Hybrid above this model. They are not standard TrailSport equipment. The extra $1,400 launch MSRP for EX-L is therefore a particularly relevant comparison for buyers who value rear-seat comfort features more than the TrailSport tire package.
Infotainment and connectivity
A 9-inch touchscreen, 10.2-inch digital instrument display and eight-speaker audio system are fitted to TrailSport. Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility and Qi-compatible phone charging are included. Google built-in is reserved for Touring Hybrid; TrailSport instead supports compatible phone projection through its centre screen.
Towing and load limits
Honda lists a maximum towing capacity of 453 kg for the hybrid, with the required accessory towing package. Do not apply the turbocharged CR-V’s higher 680-kg specification to TrailSport. The accessory package and the vehicle’s loading requirements must be checked before towing.
Safety features
Standard assistance includes adaptive cruise control, collision-mitigation braking, blind-spot information, a cross-traffic monitor and lane-keeping assistance. These features support the driver; they do not make the CR-V autonomous. The driver remains responsible for watching traffic and controlling the vehicle. Honda’s equipment sheet and feature limitations provide the trim-specific details.
Pricing and buying decision
The $47,300 launch MSRP positions TrailSport between Sport Hybrid and EX-L Hybrid. Paint, accessories, delivery charges and dealer fees can change the amount payable, and current offers may differ from the launch figures. Request an itemized quotation instead of treating the table as an on-the-road total.
The closest value comparison is within the CR-V family. Sport Hybrid is the lower-cost way into the same hybrid output and AWD configuration. TrailSport suits a buyer who specifically wants its all-terrain tires and detailing. EX-L deserves a close look if leather, memory settings and rear-seat heating are more important. Touring is the option to compare for Google built-in and Bose audio.

Frequently asked questions
Does the CR-V TrailSport Hybrid have more power?
No. Its published 204-hp hybrid output matches the other Canadian 2026 CR-V hybrid trims.
What does EX-L Hybrid add for $1,400 more?
The main gains are leather-trimmed seating, driver-seat memory and heated rear outboard seats. EX-L uses all-season tires instead of TrailSport’s all-terrain set.
Is the $47,300 figure the complete purchase price?
No. It is Honda’s May 28, 2025 Canadian launch MSRP. Delivery, applicable fees and taxes, options and other excluded charges must be added to establish an actual quotation.
