The 2026 GMC Sierra 1500 Elevation combines black exterior accents with a spacious pickup cabin and three available engines. Its standard TurboMax engine produces 310 hp and 430 lb-ft of torque. Heated front seats, a heated steering wheel and large digital displays are included, while optional packages add leather, upgraded audio and more driver assistance.
The Elevation is a useful middle-ground Sierra trim, but its equipment depends on the selected engine, seats and packages. This guide uses a Crew Cab short-bed 4WD example and identifies the upgrades that cost extra. All prices are in CAD.

Available models and where Elevation fits
The Sierra 1500 lineup includes Pro, Pro Graphite, SLE, Elevation, SLT, AT4, Denali, AT4X and Denali Ultimate offerings. Elevation builds on the core Sierra equipment with body-colour bumpers, a black grille treatment and standard 20-inch high-gloss black wheels. It sits below leather-focused SLT and the more expensive Denali models.
An Elevation is not automatically an X31-equipped truck. X31 Off-Road is an optional package, while AT4 and AT4X are separate trims. Sierra HD and Sierra EV specifications also belong to different trucks. Always check the cab, bed, drivetrain and package list when comparing advertised Elevation models.
Engines and transmissions

The standard 2.7-litre TurboMax turbocharged four-cylinder makes 310 hp and 430 lb-ft of torque. It uses an eight-speed automatic transmission. The optional 5.3-litre EcoTec3 V8 produces 355 hp and 383 lb-ft, while the optional 3.0-litre Duramax turbo-diesel inline-six makes 305 hp and 495 lb-ft. Both optional engines use a ten-speed automatic.
The 6.2-litre V8 available on some higher Sierra trims is not listed among the researched Elevation engine choices. The standard 4WD configuration includes an automatic locking rear differential and a single-speed Autotrac transfer case. The X31 package adds off-road equipment; its specifications should not be treated as the base Elevation specification.
Towing and payload
GMC’s builder displayed an 8,800-lb maximum trailering figure for the selected TurboMax Crew Cab short-bed 4WD Elevation with a 3.42 rear axle ratio. That figure is specific to the reference build. Different engines, axle ratios and trailering packages change the applicable rating.
The standard-equipment list includes a Trailering Package with a hitch platform, 2-inch receiver, trailer wiring and Hitch Guidance. It also lists an integrated trailer brake controller. The optional Preferred Package adds Hitch View and an in-vehicle Trailering App. A Max Trailering Package is available subject to compatible engine and equipment requirements.
Use the VIN-specific trailering information and door-jamb payload label for a truck you plan to buy. Passengers, accessories, cargo and trailer tongue weight all consume payload. A model-line maximum does not tell you the remaining carrying capacity of a particular Elevation.
Fuel economy
Natural Resources Canada lists the 2026 Sierra 4WD with the 2.7-litre engine at 14.2 L/100 km city, 12.9 highway and 13.6 combined. The regular 5.3-litre 4WD entry is 15.9 city, 13.0 highway and 14.6 combined. The regular 3.0-litre diesel 4WD entry is 10.7 city, 9.3 highway and 10.1 combined.
The two gasoline entries use regular gasoline in the guide. The Duramax uses diesel. Separate certification entries cover other tire or powertrain configurations, so match the EnerGuide label to the selected truck. Towing, load, cold weather and other operating conditions affect actual consumption.
Interior and seating capacity

The standard 40/20/40 front bench and rear bench provide seating for six. Optional front bucket seats and a centre console reduce the total to five. The builder offers bench- and bucket-seat configurations with the V8 and diesel, so it is inaccurate to assume every Elevation has the same seating layout.
Cloth seat trim is standard. The front outboard seats are heated, and the driver gets ten-way power adjustment with lumbar support. A heated steering wheel, dual-zone automatic climate control, rear air vents, remote start and keyless entry are included. The researched cabin also has rear-seat storage and a folding rear bench.
Leather upholstery and further cabin upgrades require optional equipment. They should be confirmed on the window sticker rather than inferred from a truck’s exterior appearance or wheel size. Front bucket seats change the storage arrangement as well as the passenger count.
Infotainment and connectivity

The standard GMC Premium Infotainment touchscreen measures 13.4 inches and includes Google built-in. A 12.3-inch Driver Information Centre provides the instrument display. Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto work with compatible phones, and the standard audio system has six speakers.
The optional Preferred Package adds a seven-speaker Bose system with a Richbass woofer, a power sliding rear window and Universal Home Remote. The standard truck includes USB connections and 120-volt outlets in the cabin and pickup bed. Connected apps, navigation features and Wi-Fi capability depend on the device, coverage and service plan.
Standard safety and optional assistance

GMC Pro Safety includes Automatic Emergency Braking, Forward Collision Alert, Front Pedestrian Braking, Following Distance Indicator, Lane Keep Assist with Lane Departure Warning and IntelliBeam automatic high beams. The Elevation also includes an HD rear camera, six airbags, stability control with trailer sway control and tire-pressure monitoring.
The optional Sierra Safety Plus Package adds HD Surround Vision, Trailer Side Blind Zone Alert, Rear Cross Traffic Braking, Rear Pedestrian Alert and trailer camera provisions. These are package upgrades, not standard equipment on every Elevation. The Preferred Package adds adaptive cruise control, while the base reference truck has conventional cruise control.
Check the exact package list when comparing assistance equipment. Trailer-camera functions that require an auxiliary camera need the corresponding accessory. All assistance systems have operating limits and do not replace the driver’s attention.
Exterior and pickup bed
The Elevation’s body-colour bumpers, high-gloss black wheels and black grille insert give it a distinct appearance. Standard equipment includes LED headlamps, fog lamps, heated power-adjustable mirrors, cargo-bed lighting and a CornerStep rear bumper. The reference truck uses 275/60R20 all-season tires.
The standard tailgate has EZ Lift assistance with power lock and release. Bed protection, alternative tailgate equipment and accessories should be checked separately on the build sheet. The available X31 Off-Road and Protection Package includes items such as rear wheelhouse liners and a spray-on bedliner.
CAD pricing and packages
GMC’s Ontario builder listed the Elevation Crew Cab short-bed 4WD TurboMax at $70,399 before the displayed fees. Freight of $2,700, a $100 air-conditioning charge, $699 dealer fees, $22 OMVIC and $22.50 tire handling brought the MSRP total to $73,942.50 before HST.
A conditional $10,000 non-stackable cash delivery allowance reduced the displayed net price to $63,942.50. That is a dated incentive example, not a permanent starting price. The engine-selection page showed approximately $76,938 for a V8 bench-seat version and $78,133 for a diesel bench-seat version, including the displayed fees before additional options and taxes.
Listed package prices included $945 for Max Trailering, $1,290 for Sierra Safety Plus, $1,545 for X31 Off-Road, $2,145 for Preferred and $4,590 for Elevation Premium. Equipment dependencies can increase the total beyond the price of a single package. Compare written quotes with the same engine, seats and options.
Competition and configuration priorities
The Chevrolet Silverado 1500 RST, Ford F-150 XLT, Ram 1500 Big Horn or Sport and Toyota Tundra SR5 are relevant comparisons. Match cab space, bed size, engine, assistance packages and final CAD price. A premium audio system or surround camera can make a substantial equipment difference even when two trucks look similar.
The Sierra 1500 Elevation offers useful standard comfort and screen equipment without moving to a Denali. The key decisions are its five- or six-seat layout, powertrain and optional safety or audio packages. Confirm those details alongside the individual towing and payload labels.
