2026 Acura MDX Platinum Elite A-SPEC vs 2026 Lexus TX 350 Luxury: Canadian Third-Row and Parking Choices

If your next luxury SUV needs to carry people in its third row regularly, the 2026 Lexus TX 350 Luxury deserves a serious look beside the 2026 Acura MDX Platinum Elite A-SPEC SH-AWD. The Lexus starts this comparison with a larger published third-row legroom figure. The Acura counters with a removable middle seat and a comfort-focused upper trim. The right answer depends on whether your priority is the back seat or the whole ownership package.

These are exact Canadian 2026 configurations. Canadian 2027 specifications for these models were not verified during this research, so this guide uses the current Canadian 2026 sources—not the separately announced U.S. 2027 TX. The packages are not presented as equipment-identical or equally priced. This is a specification comparison, not a road-test verdict.

The third-row numbers deserve attention

Lexus Canada’s 2026 product sheet identifies TX 350 Luxury as a seven-seater, measuring 5,160 mm long, with 850.9 mm of published third-row legroom. The gas turbo four-cylinder supplies 275 hp and 317 lb-ft through an eight-speed automatic. Its Canadian combined consumption figure is 10.3 L/100 km. Lexus Canada TX product information.

The seven-seat MDX Platinum Elite A-SPEC measures approximately 5,040 mm long and lists 738 mm of third-row legroom. It uses a 290-hp, 267-lb-ft V6 and ten-speed automatic. Its combined rating is 11.2 L/100 km. The second-row middle seat is removable, and this trim includes front-seat massage. Acura Canada specifications.

Put the regular passengers in the decision

The Lexus’ legroom figure is a reason to try it first if older children or adults will regularly sit at the back. It is not proof that every passenger will find it more comfortable. Seat height, foot space, access and the position of the row ahead all affect how usable the space feels. Set the front and second rows for real occupants before judging the third row.

The MDX’s flexible second-row arrangement solves a different problem. A family that usually carries six people can remove the centre seat, then reinstall it when a seventh place is needed. That flexibility is useful only if removing and storing the seat fits your routine. Have the dealer demonstrate the process rather than assuming it is something you will do every morning.

Confirm the Lexus order says Luxury and seven seats. Other TX packages have different seating arrangements; a photograph of captain’s chairs is not proof of the configuration quoted here. With either vehicle, test the access route with your actual child restraints installed correctly. A theoretical spare seat is not much use if reaching it disrupts everyone else.

A longer SUV needs a better parking test

The TX is about 120 mm longer on these published dimensions. That is not a reason to reject it, but it is enough to measure the space between a garage door and whatever sits against the rear wall. Also leave room to open the tailgate and walk past the bumper. A vehicle can fit inside a garage without being convenient to live with there.

Do the loading test with every seat you need upright. Bring the stroller, sports bags or shopping bins you normally carry. We are not ranking luggage capacity by mixing manufacturers’ different maximum-volume conventions. The useful result is whether your load fits safely without turning a passenger seat into a luggage shelf.

V6 versus turbo four: avoid the shortcut

The Acura has the higher horsepower figure; the Lexus has the higher torque figure. Neither number alone establishes which feels more effortless with a family aboard. Use the same uphill section and highway merge in both, and pay attention to transmission behaviour as well as engine sound. This comparison does not claim a measured acceleration or refinement winner.

NRCan’s 2026 guide lists the MDX 3.5-litre SH-AWD at 12.6 city, 9.4 highway and 11.2 combined L/100 km, versus 11.5 city, 8.9 highway and 10.3 combined for the TX 350 AWD. Both rows use premium gasoline, so use your local premium price rather than regular when estimating the fuel bill. The Lexus has the lower rating in both city and highway use; these are standardized ratings, not measured results for your family’s trips. At an illustrative 20,000 km a year, the published consumption difference equates to 180 litres. That is a budgeting calculation, not guaranteed savings. Compare the cost with the full price difference and the equipment you would otherwise add. A more expensive package needs to earn its place through features you use, not just a longer equipment list.

The shortlist verdict

Give the TX 350 Luxury the first appointment when third-row accommodation is the main reason you are replacing your vehicle. Give the MDX Platinum Elite A-SPEC equal time if adaptable second-row seating and its identified comfort equipment matter more. Let the passengers and your parking space settle the question before the badges do.

Compare the actual seven-seat configurations rather than an upgraded showroom vehicle. The vehicle quote and total-cost guide provides a written framework for that comparison.
