The 2026 GMC Yukon XL Denali combines a long three-row body with a V8 engine and a substantial list of comfort features. Its portrait-oriented 16.8-inch touchscreen, head-up display and sliding centre console are standard. However, air suspension, Super Cruise and the camera mirror require options. Denali Ultimate is a separate, more extensively equipped trim.

Models available and Denali positioning

The 2026 Yukon XL lineup includes Elevation, AT4, Denali, AT4 Ultimate and Denali Ultimate. Equipment and engines vary between these trims. The AT4 versions emphasize off-road-oriented features, while Denali focuses on luxury and convenience. However, Denali Ultimate adds equipment beyond the regular Denali.

The selected 2026 GMC Yukon XL Denali has four-wheel drive. It is the longer-bodied alternative to the regular Yukon, with more cargo-room potential. The front bucket seats and second-row selection determine its seating capacity.

Seven seats standard, eight with the optional bench

Denali’s standard layout seats seven: two in the front, two in second-row bucket seats and three in the third row. GMC also offers a power-release second-row 60/40 split-folding bench. Selecting that three-person bench brings capacity to eight, while retaining the front buckets.

Therefore, check the seating option on the specific build sheet before comparing vehicles. A seven-seat example does not mean the trim cannot offer eight seats. In addition, the second-row layout affects access to the third row.

2026 GMC Yukon XL Denali engine specifications

Engine bay of the 2026 GMC Yukon XL Denali

The standard 6.2-litre V8 produces 420 horsepower at 5,600 rpm and 460 lb-ft of torque at 4,100 rpm. GMC pairs it with a 10-speed automatic transmission and Dynamic Fuel Management. The selected build uses a 3.23 rear axle ratio. Premium gasoline is the fuel specification for its published consumption figures.

The available 3.0-litre Duramax turbo-diesel produces 305 horsepower at 3,750 rpm and 495 lb-ft at 2,750 rpm, paired with a 10-speed automatic. It provides another engine choice for Denali buyers, with a lower published combined fuel-consumption rating. Confirm the exact diesel configuration and its towing information rather than carrying across the gas build’s figures.

The 5.3-litre V8 appears in other Yukon XL trims. However, Denali’s engine selector shows the 6.2-litre V8 and the 3.0-litre diesel. The engine name, transmission and trim should all match when comparing specifications.

Suspension and four-wheel-drive equipment

Magnetic Ride Control is standard. It adjusts the dampers electronically; it should not be confused with the optional Adaptive Air Ride suspension. The selected standard build also has a single-speed Autotrac transfer case and a mechanical limited-slip rear differential.

A two-speed transfer case is part of the optional Max Trailering equipment arrangement. Meanwhile, the Premium Capability Package with Active Response 4WD includes Adaptive Air Ride suspension and an electronic limited-slip differential. Buyers who need low range or adjustable air suspension should verify the relevant package rather than assuming the Denali badge includes both.

Towing equipment and loading limits

GMC’s selected 6.2-litre Denali build lists maximum trailering of 7,300 lb. Treat that as a reference for the selected configuration. Engine, packages, vehicle equipment and loaded weight can change the applicable limit. A higher Yukon XL-wide maximum is not a promise for every Denali.

Standard trailering equipment includes a two-inch receiver, wiring harness, seven-pin connector, Trailer Sway Control and Hitch Guidance. The optional Max Trailering arrangement adds equipment such as an integrated trailer brake controller and a two-speed transfer case. Advanced trailering options provide further hitch and trailer-camera tools.

Payload must cover occupants, cargo, accessories and trailer tongue weight together. Consequently, filling all seven or eight seats can reduce the remaining loading allowance. Use the actual vehicle’s loading label and owner’s manual to evaluate the proposed combination, rather than relying only on a general builder payload number.

Fuel economy

Natural Resources Canada rates the 2026 Yukon XL 4WD with the 6.2-litre V8 at 16.6 L/100 km city, 13.0 highway and 15.0 combined, using premium gasoline. The 3.0-litre diesel Yukon XL 4WD is rated at 11.5 city, 9.7 highway and 10.7 combined.

These are published powertrain ratings, rather than a measured result from this video’s vehicle. In addition, towing, load, temperature, speed and conditions affect actual use. Compare both fuel type and consumption when considering the gas and diesel choices.

Interior comfort and cargo space

Front seats of the 2026 GMC Yukon XL Denali

Denali includes perforated leather seating, heated and ventilated front seats, heated second-row outboard seats and a heated steering wheel. Both front seats have eight-way power adjustment with four-way power lumbar support. Driver memory also supports the power tilt-and-telescoping steering column.

The standard second-row buckets have power release, while the third-row bench folds electrically. Meanwhile, the power-sliding centre console can move rearward to change the storage arrangement between the front seats. Tri-zone automatic climate control, rear air conditioning and remote start also come standard.

The XL’s longer body provides additional cargo-room potential compared with the regular Yukon. However, maximum cargo volume with the rear seats folded does not describe the room behind an occupied third row. Check the required luggage space with the seats in their intended position.

An AutoSense power liftgate and fixed assist steps are standard. Power-retractable steps and the panoramic sunroof are optional equipment. Thus, photographs of a highly equipped example may show features beyond the base Denali configuration.

Infotainment, audio and displays

The 2026 GMC Yukon XL Denali includes a 16.8-inch touchscreen with Google built-in compatibility. Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto support compatible phones. An 11-inch driver information display and a 15-inch head-up display also come standard.

Bose CenterPoint surround audio uses 10 speakers. In addition, wireless phone charging, USB connections and two 120-volt outlets serve cabin and cargo needs. Connected services, navigation functions and Wi-Fi depend on their connection, account and subscription terms.

A conventional auto-dimming interior mirror is standard. The optional Rear Camera Mirror provides a camera view instead. Meanwhile, standard HD Surround Vision provides exterior camera perspectives. The listed Interior Camera requires a future software update, so its presence should not be described as proof that every intended function is already active.

A Rear Seat Media System is optional. The Advanced Technology Package includes the Rear Seat Media System with dual 12.6-inch screens. Check the current package list if rear entertainment is important. Likewise, a temporary service trial is not a permanent free subscription.

Safety features and optional Super Cruise

Standard systems include Enhanced Automatic Emergency Braking, Intersection Automatic Emergency Braking, Front Pedestrian and Bicyclist Braking and Reverse Automatic Braking. Forward Collision Alert, enhanced Lane Keep Assist with Lane Departure Warning and IntelliBeam automatic high beams also appear in the standard list.

Adaptive Cruise Control, Blind Zone Steering Assist, Rear Cross Traffic Braking, Rear Pedestrian Alert, Side Bicyclist Alert and Traffic Sign Recognition add further assistance. Meanwhile, Enhanced Automatic Parking Assist, HD Surround Vision and the Safety Alert Seat support parking and warning functions. The front-bucket-seat configuration has seven airbags.

Super Cruise is optional and requires the appropriate package. It is a separate system from standard Adaptive Cruise Control. Its operation depends on compatible roads, active services and other conditions, and the driver must remain attentive and ready to take control.

Rear Seat Reminder, child security locks and Teen Driver are also included. Driver-assistance features have operating limits; check the owner’s manual for the exact vehicle. Rear Seat Reminder does not detect a person or object left inside.

CAD pricing and optional packages

GMC’s Ontario builder lists a Standard Vehicle Price of $110,999 for the selected V8 Denali. Freight of $2,700, the $100 air-conditioning charge, $699 dealer fees, $22 OMVIC and $22.50 tire handling bring the displayed MSRP total to $114,542.50. Adding the builder’s estimated $2,909 luxury tax produces $117,451.50 before sales tax.

The engine selector lists the diesel Denali configuration from approximately $130,022 with its displayed fees, taxes and required configuration. This difference should not be treated as the engine’s standalone option price. Request an itemized quote for the precise build and payment method, since packages, tax treatment and incentives can change the total.

The Premium Capability Package with Active Response 4WD lists at $2,065 and includes Adaptive Air Ride suspension and an electronic limited-slip differential. The Premium Trailering Package lists at $2,765. Meanwhile, the $3,720 Sun & Power Step Package includes the panoramic sunroof and power-retractable assist steps.

The $7,355 Advanced Technology Package includes Super Cruise, the Rear Camera Mirror, Rear Seat Media System, Advanced Security Package and Max Trailering Package. The broader Denali Reserve Package lists at $12,530. These are optional packages; their names do not indicate that every Denali has them.

Competition and alternatives

The Chevrolet Suburban High Country is a closely related alternative with its own interior and equipment presentation. The Ford Expedition Max and Lincoln Navigator L provide other long-body, three-row choices. Meanwhile, Cadillac’s Escalade ESV offers another luxury-focused option at a different price position.

Within GMC, the regular Yukon Denali may suit buyers who do not need the XL’s additional cargo-room potential. Denali Ultimate is worth comparing when the desired options bring a regular Denali closer to its price. The choice should account for seating, cargo space, towing configuration and the cost of optional technology.
