2026 Chevrolet Colorado Z71 vs 2026 Toyota Tacoma TRD Sport Premium: Price the Comfort Bundle and Six-Foot Bed

The Tacoma TRD Sport Premium changes this comparison substantially. It is not simply the ordinary Sport with a nicer name: Toyota bundles ventilation, a larger centre screen, additional camera equipment and other comfort upgrades into this Canadian grade. The useful question against Colorado Z71 is whether that complete package solves needs that the selected Chevrolet leaves to other configurations, while also supplying the Toyota’s six-foot bed.

The exact Canadian choices are 2026 Colorado Z71 Crew Cab 4WD, style 477791, TurboMax/eight-speed automatic, and 2026 Tacoma TRD Sport Premium Double Cab 4×4, non-hybrid 2.4-litre turbo, eight-speed automatic and six-foot bed. The Toyota is not basic Sport, Sport+, Off Road Premium or a hybrid. Verified 2026 data are used because exact later-year Canadian equipment for these versions was not sufficiently established; no 2027 carryover is assumed.

Premium changes what is included

Toyota’s Sport Premium package includes SofTex upholstery, heated and ventilated front seats, dual-zone climate, a fourteen-inch centre display, Panoramic View Monitor and trailer-backup assistance. It builds on Sport+ equipment including powered front seats, moonroof, heated steering wheel and trailer brake controller. Toyota Canada’s 2026 package descriptions.

Those are reasons to compare this grade separately from ordinary TRD Sport. Try the ventilation and the passenger-seat adjustment with the person who will use them. Demonstrate the camera views while parked and at a suitable manoeuvring area, without treating an image as a guarantee that every obstacle is visible. A larger display is useful only if the information and controls work well for you.

The selected Z71 list includes heated Cloth/Evotex front seats, powered driver adjustment, a manual passenger seat and dual-zone climate. Its 11-inch driver display and 11.3-inch centre screen accompany an HD rear camera in the selected equipment list. That baseline does not establish the Toyota’s ventilation or panoramic-camera equipment on every Z71. Chevrolet Canada Z71 standard-feature list.

If those Toyota features are essential, request a Chevrolet quote that actually identifies the necessary available package or a different suitable configuration. Do not assume it can be matched item for item, and do not price the basic Z71 as if it already includes the desired upgrades. Conversely, if you would never use the Premium equipment, its inclusion is not a reason to pay for it.

A six-foot bed remains part of the Premium specification

Toyota places this automatic Sport Premium in the six-foot-bed gasoline range. The Colorado is a Crew Cab Short Box. Check your longest regular load with the tailgate closed, a cover or toolbox fitted and the securing points accessible. Cabin comfort cannot compensate for cargo that does not fit your normal arrangement. Toyota configuration choices; Chevrolet Canadian configurations.

Also check the overall truck in the driveway and garage. The extra cargo length may solve a recurring problem or may merely make parking less convenient. A longer bed is not a higher payload allowance; read the actual label with passengers and permanent accessories included.

Do not confuse Sport Premium with Toyota’s off-road grades

Sport Premium retains the Sport family’s sport-tuned suspension. The selected Chevrolet lists a two-speed transfer case, automatic rear locker and integrated controller. Toyota’s rear-locker and Crawl Control package belongs to its Off Road grades, not the Sport Premium configuration chosen here. Z71 mechanical equipment; Toyota grade separation.

If low-speed trail hardware is the main requirement, reconsider whether Sport Premium is the appropriate Toyota before negotiating. If the truck mainly serves on-road family and cargo duties, the comfort bundle may be the more important distinction. Neither the Sport label nor the Z71 badge establishes ride quality or a trail winner without testing the actual vehicles.

The Premium step should be deliberate

Toyota Canada’s configurator, checked October 31, 2026 in Ontario, puts the 2026 Tacoma TRD Sport Premium at C$60,531 on an MSRP-plus-package basis. This is the gas Double Cab 4×4 with the eight-speed automatic and six-foot bed. It is C$8,556 above Sport at C$51,975 and C$4,157 above Sport+ at C$56,374. Those differences cover complete packages, not individual features or negotiated savings. Delivery, dealer and regulatory fees, taxes, licensing, registration, insurance, added accessories and protection plans are extra. These are not all-in purchase prices.

Use that distinction to decide whether you want the whole Premium bundle. A single desired feature may be an expensive reason to move up several grades; several frequently used features may justify examining the package closely. These Toyota package differences do not establish a price gap against the Chevrolet.

Do not count speculative resale values or assumed fuel savings as guaranteed offsets to the purchase price.

The useful shortlist

Choose Sport Premium for further testing when the six-foot cargo arrangement and bundled passenger/camera comforts are central to your plan. Choose Z71 for further testing when its selected cabin is sufficient and its mechanical baseline is more relevant. Keep the complete Premium bundle in the quote rather than using the ordinary Sport starting price.
