2025 Toyota Sequoia TRD Pro: Specs, Features & Canadian Pricing

The 2025 Toyota Sequoia TRD Pro combines a 437-horsepower hybrid powertrain with seven-passenger seating, FOX suspension and a locking rear differential. It is the off-road-focused version of Toyota’s full-size SUV, rather than the most luxurious one. The same engine is available in less expensive Sequoias; the TRD Pro premium buys different chassis hardware and equipment.

This guide covers the Canadian 2025 Sequoia TRD Pro featured in our video. It separates the TRD Pro’s specifications from the rest of the range and compares Toyota Canada’s original model-year prices, including the distinction between MSRP and the manufacturer’s estimated vehicle price.

Models available

The Canadian lineup includes SR5 TRD Off Road, Limited Nightshade, TRD Pro, Platinum and Capstone. Platinum and Capstone also have separately priced towing-mirror configurations. All use the i-FORCE MAX hybrid powertrain and four-wheel drive, so there is no lower-output, non-hybrid Canadian entry model in this comparison.

SR5 TRD Off Road and Limited Nightshade seat eight with a second-row bench. TRD Pro, Platinum and Capstone seat seven with second-row captain’s chairs. That difference matters more than a small price gap when an eighth seating position is essential.

Engine and transmission

The i-FORCE MAX system combines a 3,445-cc twin-turbo V6 with an electric motor positioned between the engine and ten-speed automatic. Toyota’s Canadian technical sheet identifies it as a 3.4-litre engine and lists system output of 437 hp at 5,200 rpm and 583 lb-ft at 2,400 rpm. The transmission has sequential shifting and Tow/Haul modes. Toyota Canada’s 2025 product specifications.

This is a conventional hybrid, not a plug-in hybrid. There is no charging stop to plan and no plug-in electric-range figure to compare. Toyota specifies regular 87-octane unleaded. The part-time four-wheel-drive system has an electronically controlled two-speed transfer case, providing high and low ranges for the appropriate conditions.

Suspension and off-road equipment

The TRD Pro uses FOX 2.5-inch internal-bypass front coilovers and rear remote-reservoir shocks, with a raised front suspension. Toyota lists 231 mm of ground clearance for this version. A locking rear differential, skid plate and TRD Pro front stabilizer bar are part of the specification; the Platinum’s adaptive suspension is a different setup, not an additional TRD Pro feature.

Black forged 18-inch BBS wheels are standard. The heritage-style TOYOTA grille, integrated LED light bar and amber marker lights distinguish the exterior, while Mudbath is the new TRD Pro-exclusive colour for 2025. Those details are included in the grade rather than evidence of an aftermarket off-road conversion.

This remains a large vehicle. Toyota lists a 5,284-mm overall length and a 13.6-m turning circle for TRD Pro, compared with 12.3 m for other versions. Measure the garage and check the places where you regularly turn or park; extra clearance does not make a full-size SUV smaller on a narrow trail.

Towing and payload

Toyota Canada’s specification table rates TRD Pro for a maximum 9,020-lb trailer, approximately 4,091 kg. The table lists a 902-lb maximum tongue weight and 3,440-kg gross vehicle weight rating. These are TRD Pro figures: the Canadian SR5 TRD Off Road and Capstone have different towing ratings.

A trailer brake controller is standard. Toyota’s catalogue payload for TRD Pro is 650 kg, but use the actual vehicle’s loading label when accounting for passengers, accessories, luggage and trailer tongue weight. A family of seven and a heavy trailer share the same payload allowance; the headline tow rating does not remove that constraint.

Fuel economy

Natural Resources Canada rates the 2025 Sequoia 4WD at 12.6 L/100 km city, 10.5 highway and 11.7 combined. This is the Canadian hybrid rating, not a measurement from our video. NRCan’s 2025 model-year dataset.

At 20,000 km annually, the combined rating represents approximately 2,340 litres. Use that figure with your expected fuel price when comparing running costs. The hybrid system supports a powerful full-size SUV; buyers should not expect the consumption of a smaller hybrid crossover simply because both carry a hybrid badge.

Interior, seating and cargo

TRD Pro includes heated and ventilated front seats, driver-seat memory and a heated steering wheel. Its front seats carry the TRD Pro logo and technical-camouflage inserts. The front-seat massage function introduced for 2025 belongs to Platinum and Capstone, not TRD Pro.

The captain’s-chair layout leaves three seating positions in the third row. Toyota lists third-row legroom from 714 to 856 mm, reflecting the adjustable seating arrangement. Try the third row with the people who will use it and the luggage that normally comes along, rather than judging the cabin only from the front seats.

Cargo capacity behind the third row varies from 326 to 631 litres as the seating position changes. Moving the row to gain luggage space trades away legroom. Folding the third row provides 1,388 litres; the maximum 2,461 litres is behind the first row with the rear seating folded. The largest number is therefore not available while carrying seven people.

Infotainment and driver assistance

A 14-inch touchscreen and 14-speaker JBL system are included in TRD Pro, along with wireless smartphone charging. Toyota Multimedia supports wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Connected services have their own account, trial and subscription terms, so distinguish permanent equipment from an active service when considering a used example.

Toyota Safety Sense 2.5 is standard across the Canadian range. TRD Pro also includes the Panoramic View Monitor; the range’s safety equipment includes blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert and braking, and parking assistance with automatic braking. Cameras are useful for checking the surroundings of a vehicle this size, but still require an attentive driver.

2025 Canadian trim comparison

The following prices come from Toyota Canada’s September 19, 2024 announcement for the 2025 model year, checked on October 28, 2026. The powertrain and four-wheel-drive layout are aligned across the range; seating and equipment differ. These are original model-year prices, not current dealer offers.

2025 Canadian configurationStarting MSRP (CAD)Estimated vehicle price (CAD)Main distinction
SR5 TRD Off Road$82,965$86,525Eight seats; off-road equipment and 8-inch touchscreen.
Limited Nightshade$85,785$89,345Eight seats; black exterior details, 14-inch screen and panoramic moonroof.
TRD Pro$98,023$101,583Seven seats; FOX suspension, BBS wheels and off-road-focused equipment.
Platinum$97,310$100,870Seven seats; leather, front massage and adaptive suspension.
Platinum with Towing Mirrors$97,625$101,185Platinum equipment plus power-extendable towing mirrors.
Capstone$100,622$104,182Seven seats; 22-inch wheels, semi-aniline leather and walnut trim.
Capstone with Towing Mirrors$100,937$104,497Capstone equipment plus power-extendable towing mirrors.

Toyota’s estimated vehicle price adds freight/PDI, air-conditioning charge and maximum dealer and other fees. It excludes taxes, licence, insurance and registration. For TRD Pro, that makes the published difference between MSRP and estimated vehicle price $3,560. The roughly $103,000 figure in the video description is not the same as the $98,023 starting MSRP; the exact video build’s itemized total is not established.

Competition and choosing a trim

TRD Pro is the choice for buyers who specifically want its FOX suspension and off-road equipment. Platinum was $713 less at the published starting MSRP and concentrated more on comfort. SR5 TRD Off Road retained eight seats and trail-oriented equipment at a substantially lower price, making it worth considering before assuming TRD Pro is necessary.
