The important comparison is with SL and SL Premium: a higher trim adds equipment, but the Platinum badge is not the Rock Creek engine specification or proof of every towing accessory.

Nissan’s Canadian pricing list includes S, SV, Rock Creek, SL, SL Premium and Platinum. Rock Creek is the off-road-oriented alternative, while Platinum emphasizes cabin materials and convenience equipment. Canadian 2024 pricing announcement.
Engine and transmission
The regular Pathfinder powertrain is a 3.5-litre V6 rated at 284 hp and 259 lb-ft, paired with a nine-speed automatic and Intelligent 4WD. Rock Creek’s higher advertised output on premium fuel should not be assigned to Platinum. Nissan Canada 2024 press kit.
Fuel economy
NRCan lists the regular 2024 Pathfinder 4WD at 11.7 L/100 km city, 9.3 highway and 10.6 combined. Rock Creek is separately rated; its 11.1 combined figure is not the Platinum reference. NRCan 2024 guide.
At 20,000 km annually, 10.6 combined represents about 2,120 litres. Use that as a starting point for a fuel budget, then account for your own traffic, weather and loaded trips. Towing and extended idling can change consumption significantly.
Interior and practicality
Platinum’s published equipment includes quilted semi-aniline leather-appointed seating, climate-controlled front seats, heated rear seats and a panoramic moonroof. It also lists a motion-activated liftgate and 20-inch wheels. Canadian Platinum overview.
Choose the seating arrangement before concentrating on the trim badge. Check the second row and actual seat count, then install any child seats and test third-row access. In the Pathfinder, do not use the second-row slide-forward function while a child restraint is occupied. A seat-access demonstration should be repeated using the restraint and installation method your household actually uses; do not assume every child-seat setup behaves identically.
Try loading luggage with the third row occupied. If you regularly travel with a full passenger load, that test is more useful than cargo capacity with the seats folded. Also check whether the liftgate can open in your garage and whether its controls are easy for the people who will use them.
Infotainment and connectivity
The Platinum overview lists a 12.3-inch instrument display, head-up display and 13-speaker Bose audio. Wireless Apple CarPlay is identified for SL and Platinum; that does not establish wireless Android Auto. Canadian technology information.
Nissan’s pricing sheet also lists a TFT meter deletion credit for Platinum. Confirm the window sticker and inspect the actual display before assuming the regular specification is installed. Safety and driver assistance
ProPILOT Assist with Navi-link is listed for SL and Platinum. It remains a hands-on assistance system: the driver must stay attentive and ready to intervene. Do not treat navigation-linked speed assistance as autonomous driving. Canadian assistance-system description.
Towing equipment
The Canadian price sheet includes a Tow Delete Package for Platinum. For that reason, a Platinum badge alone is not proof of a complete towing installation. Check the original build, the equipment present and the vehicle’s loading limits before selecting a trailer. Recall checks: Ask Nissan to check the VIN and confirm applicable repairs. Transport Canada recall 2024148 includes certain 2024 Pathfinders whose driver-seat-belt pretensioner may not work correctly in a crash; dealers inspect and replace it if needed. Recall 2024129 covers certain 2024 Pathfinders whose driver-front airbag inflator can admit moisture and fail to inflate correctly; the remedy replaces that airbag. Choosing a trim
The best comparison is a feature-by-feature inspection of SL Premium and Platinum. Try the seats, audio and displays before deciding whether they justify the remaining price gap. On a used example, condition, repair history and the equipment actually retained can matter more than the original trim ranking.
Does Platinum have the Rock Creek horsepower rating?
No. Use the regular Pathfinder specification rather than transferring Rock Creek’s premium-fuel figure.
Can towing equipment be assumed from the Platinum name?
No. Nissan lists a tow-deletion option, so confirm the individual build and fitted equipment.
