2024 Hyundai Palisade Ultimate Calligraphy

The 2024 Hyundai Palisade Ultimate Calligraphy puts the emphasis on cabin equipment rather than a more powerful engine. For Canadian shoppers, the useful question is how much its additional comfort and technology are worth compared with the already well-equipped Urban.

Models available

Hyundai Canada’s 2024 model summary compares Urban and Ultimate Calligraphy. Urban is available with eight seats or a seven-seat arrangement, while the Ultimate Calligraphy comparison here is the seven-passenger model. A higher trim does not create an eighth seat. Engine and transmission

The 3.8-litre V6 produces 291 hp and 262 lb-ft of torque and is paired with an eight-speed automatic. Ultimate Calligraphy does not add a turbocharged or hybrid powertrain. Fuel economy

NRCan rates the 2024 Palisade AWD at 12.2 L/100 km city, 9.7 highway and 11.1 combined. These figures describe the Canadian AWD model, not a newer hybrid or a front-wheel-drive version from another market. NRCan 2024 Fuel Consumption Guide.

At 20,000 km, the combined rating represents approximately 2,220 litres annually. Multiply that by your expected fuel price for a useful starting budget. Congestion, winter warm-up time and loaded trips can change the result.

Interior and practicality

Ultimate Calligraphy adds Nappa leather, ventilated second-row captain’s chairs, an Ergo Motion driver’s seat and a digital rearview mirror. Urban already has ventilated front seats and a power-folding third row. Those shared features are worth recognizing before paying more for equipment you may already get lower in the range. 2024 trim equipment comparison.

The second-row layout should be tested with the people and child seats you normally carry. Check third-row access without assuming every seat can slide freely when a child restraint is installed. Then load your usual luggage with the third row raised; folding that row for a cargo demonstration does not answer whether it works for seven people travelling together.

Infotainment and connectivity

Both trims have a 12.3-inch touchscreen, 12.3-inch digital cluster and 12-speaker Harman Kardon audio. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are wired. Ultimate Calligraphy adds a head-up display and wireless charging pad; wireless charging should not be confused with wireless phone projection. Canadian technology matrix.

Safety and driver assistance

The matrix lists Highway Driving Assist 2 for Ultimate Calligraphy versus Highway Driving Assist for Urban. Neither makes the SUV autonomous. Confirm how the fitted systems operate, keep attention on the road and do not treat a camera view as a substitute for checking the area around the vehicle. 2024 assistance specifications.

Recall checks: Ask Hyundai to check the VIN and all outstanding campaigns. Recall 2024090 covers certain 2024 Palisades with valve springs that can break, causing engine failure or oil leakage onto hot parts; the remedy is engine replacement. Recall 2025476 concerns seat-belt buckles that may not latch securely. Until repairs are completed, Hyundai advises firmly latching each belt and pulling it to check that it is secured; dealers inspect and replace affected buckles as required. Recall 2026023 concerns curtain-airbag deployment for third-row occupants. The Transport Canada notice checked November 1, 2026 still describes its remedy as under development; confirm the latest status with Hyundai. These notices include certain 2024 vehicles, not proof that the filmed Palisade is affected.

This Canadian 2024 dealer-catalog comparison was checked October 29, 2026. Woodbridge Hyundai explicitly includes freight and PDI in these figures; taxes, registration, options and accessories are excluded. They are historical-model catalog references, not current binding offers or the reviewed vehicle’s sticker.

Choosing a trim

Urban deserves a close look if you primarily want the shared powertrain, audio and front-seat comfort. Ultimate Calligraphy makes more sense when its second-row ventilation, upholstery and additional displays are features your household will use. If eight seats are essential, prioritize that requirement rather than assuming the highest trim is the best match.

For towing, use the individual vehicle’s rating, payload label and required equipment. Do not assume rear self-levelling suspension alone proves that a hitch or complete towing setup is installed.

Does Ultimate Calligraphy have a stronger engine than Urban?

No. Both use the same published V6 powertrain; the main upgrade is equipment.

Does wireless charging mean wireless Apple CarPlay?

No. The Canadian 2024 model matrix specifies wired phone projection separately from the charging pad.
