The 2024 Chevrolet Silverado 2500HD High Country brings a premium interior to Chevrolet’s heavy-duty pickup range. It is a different proposition from a Silverado 1500 High Country: the trim name is shared, but the engine choices and capacity calculations are not.

Gasoline and diesel powertrains
Chevrolet’s Canadian 2024 announcement specifies a 6.6-litre gasoline V8 producing 401 hp and 464 lb-ft, or a 6.6-litre Duramax turbo-diesel V8 producing 470 hp and 975 lb-ft. Both use an Allison ten-speed automatic. Canadian 2024 HD powertrain specifications.
The identical displacement does not make these engines interchangeable. Confirm which fuel system the truck uses before comparing operating costs or service requirements. A diesel upgrade should be judged against the work you intend to do, not assumed from the High Country badge.
The High Country cabin
Chevrolet’s Canadian announcement describes High Country with heated and ventilated power front seats, Bose audio, wireless charging and distinctive leather and wood trim. Its exclusive Nightshift Blue interior was part of the 2024 update. High Country interior announcement.
Technology and equipment checks
The 2024 HD update introduced a 13.4-inch infotainment display and 12.3-inch configurable driver display on LT and higher trims. Canadian interior update. The larger screen is therefore not exclusive to High Country.
Towing: use the correct chart
Chevrolet publishes a dedicated Canadian 2024 Silverado 2500HD table for conventional and fifth-wheel/gooseneck trailering. It distinguishes engines, cab and bed combinations, drivetrain and applicable High Country footnotes. Exact-year Canadian 2500HD towing tables.
Do not use a Silverado 3500HD headline maximum for a 2500HD. Do not treat a conventional-trailer limit as automatically interchangeable with a fifth-wheel figure either. Establish the truck’s exact configuration and then read the matching row and footnotes together.
Count occupants, accessories, luggage and hitch or pin weight when assessing loading. Premium equipment also forms part of the truck’s actual build, so the individual payload label matters. Ask for a written configuration-specific assessment before buying a trailer around a marketing number.
Fuel and ownership planning
Do not use a light-duty Silverado fuel-consumption rating for the 2500HD: it has different engines and loading requirements.
Canadian trim comparison and pricing
The following are retained Canadian 2024 catalogue vehicle MSRP references checked October 29, 2026. Original price effective date is unknown. All comparison rows are Crew Cab standard-box 4WD with the base gasoline powertrain, before diesel upgrades, freight/PDI, taxes, fees and options. They are not launch-price claims or live offers.
| 2024 2500HD trim | Catalogue MSRP (CAD) | Difference from High Country | Reason to compare |
|---|---|---|---|
| LT | $71,699 | −$23,600 | 13.4-inch centre display and 12.3-inch driver display. |
| LTZ | $80,999 | −$14,300 | Dual-projector LED headlamps and Digital Variable Steering Assist, beyond LT. |
| High Country | $95,299 | Reference | Leather and wood trim, ventilated front seats and Bose 7-speaker audio. |
Equipment comparison: Canadian 2024 trim information. Optional packages remain separate from the base configurations priced above.
Price source: Canadian 2024 catalogue. The same catalogue lists High Country long-box 4WD at $95,599; that is a different bed configuration and is not substituted into the standard-box chart.
Use these figures to understand the catalogue hierarchy, then compare current itemized offers. Do not subtract an optioned diesel truck’s asking price from a base gasoline MSRP and call the difference a pure trim upgrade.
