The 2023 Ram 2500 Laramie Night Edition combines a comfort-oriented heavy-duty trim with a darker appearance package. Night Edition does not, by itself, establish which engine, cab or towing configuration you are getting. Those details should be resolved before comparing its price with another Ram.
Watch our 2023 Ram 2500 Laramie Night Edition video below, followed by Canadian equipment, powertrain and trim comparisons.

Engine choices
Canadian Laramie specifications list a 6.4-litre HEMI with an eight-speed automatic or a 6.7-litre Cummins diesel with a six-speed automatic. The high-output Cummins/AISIN combination is restricted to 3500 models; it must not be assigned to this 2500. Canadian 2023 Heavy Duty brochure.
Night Edition can be paired with different Laramie powertrains. It is not proof of the Cummins engine, and it does not change the 2500 into the higher-output 3500 specification.
What Night Edition changes
The Canadian brochure describes a performance-style hood, body-colour exterior pieces, black grille and trim, and 20-inch black wheels on single-rear-wheel trucks. It is an appearance package, not the Power Wagon’s off-road equipment package. Laramie Night Edition description.
Cabin and options
Laramie brings heated leather-faced front seating, a heated steering wheel, dual-zone climate control and power seat adjustment. Its standard infotainment is an 8.4-inch Uconnect 5 NAV screen with nine-speaker audio and a subwoofer; the instrument display is seven inches. Level I/II, rear air suspension, sunroof and towing-camera groups are separate choices. Canadian Laramie equipment, page 21.
Towing and payload
Use VIN-specific information and the truck’s labels for the actual loading limits. Cab, box, axle ratio, engine, hitch and installed options matter. A brochure maximum for a different 2500 configuration is not this truck’s rating, and a 3500 figure is not a substitute.
Work through the intended load before purchase: people, cargo, accessories and trailer tongue or pin weight all count. For a fifth-wheel or gooseneck setup, confirm the correct preparation and hitch rather than assuming a bed opening means the installation is complete.
Fuel and operating costs
This heavy-duty truck is not represented by the light-duty Ram 1500 fuel ratings. Gas and diesel versions have different servicing and fuel requirements, so operating-cost comparisons need the engine and intended towing duty as well as the purchase price.
Canadian trim and package comparison
The base-price examples below compare trims with the same cab and box layout; they do not include a priced Night Edition package. The package surcharge remains separate. Equipment differences come from the Canadian 2023 brochure; prices are historical catalogue references checked October 29, 2026.
These historical Canadian base prices cover 2023 Ram 2500 Crew Cab 4×4 trucks with the 6-foot-4-inch box. Original price-effective date is unstated; checked October 29, 2026. Freight, taxes, options and Night Edition are excluded. Engine and package details must still be matched when obtaining a quote. Canadian historical catalog.
| Base configuration example | Base MSRP CAD | Difference and standard equipment |
|---|---|---|
| Tradesman | $65,295 | Work-focused vinyl seating/floor and 5-inch Uconnect display. |
| Big Horn | $68,245 | +$2,950 over Tradesman: cloth seating, carpet, 18-inch polished wheels and heated power trailer mirrors |
| Laramie | $81,795 | +$13,550 over Big Horn: heated leather-faced seats, heated wheel, dual-zone climate, 8.4-inch navigation and nine-speaker audio; Night extra |
| Choice | What to compare | What it does not establish |
|---|---|---|
| Laramie | Heated leather-faced front seats, heated wheel, dual-zone climate and 8.4-inch navigation | Exact engine or towing capacity |
| Laramie Night Edition | Adds performance-style hood, black grille/trim and 20-inch black wheels on this single-rear-wheel model | A mechanical capability upgrade by itself |
| Limited Longhorn | Premium leather bucket seats, wood trim, ventilated front/heated rear seats and 12-inch instrument display | Canadian brochure specifies diesel; not a trim-only price step from gas Laramie |
Who should consider it?
Night Edition suits someone who already wants the Laramie specification and prefers its exterior treatment. Start with the work the truck must do, then decide whether the appearance premium is worthwhile. On used trucks, verified condition and the right configuration matter more than the original package cost.
