Models available
Canadian 2023 choices include GLA 250 4MATIC, Mercedes-AMG GLA 35 4MATIC and AMG GLA 45 4MATIC. The Canadian lineup uses AWD; U.S. front-wheel-drive prices are not a valid substitute. Canadian dealer model overview.
Engine and transmission
GLA 250 uses a 2.0-litre turbo four-cylinder and eight-speed dual-clutch transmission. Published output is 221 hp and 258 lb-ft. The AMG models have different output and should not be confused with an appearance-equipped GLA 250. Canadian engine comparison · NRCan configuration data.
Fuel economy
NRCan’s 2023 GLA 250 4MATIC entry is rated at 10.3 L/100 km city, 7.3 highway and 9.0 combined. At 20,000 km that represents about 1,800 litres. The listing uses premium gasoline; budget on the appropriate fuel basis rather than assuming the lowest pump price. NRCan ratings.
The AMG 35 and 45 have separate consumption entries. If you are comparing them, include fuel, tires and insurance alongside the purchase-price difference. None of those ownership costs can be inferred reliably from a monthly financing payment alone.
Infotainment and connectivity
The GLA uses the MBUX interface. Display, navigation and assistance options vary by configuration; the owner’s manual explains operation but does not identify the options fitted to an individual car. Mercedes-Benz GLA manual.
Safety and driver assistance
Check the vehicle’s fitted assistance package and read its operating limitations. Adaptive cruise control, camera systems and other optional features should not be promised merely because the car is a Mercedes-Benz. An assistance system does not remove the driver’s responsibility to observe traffic and remain in control. Manufacturer equipment and operating guidance.

Choosing a model
GLA 250 is the sensible baseline when you want the vehicle’s size and cabin without prioritizing AMG performance. Compare the actual equipment before paying for cosmetic upgrades, and test drive candidates rather than treating a power figure as a comfort or handling verdict.
Frequently asked questions
Does an AMG appearance package make it an AMG GLA 35?
