Here is the review of this all-new 2023 Honda CR-V Touring Hybrid! The 2023 Honda CR-V introduces the small SUV’s new generation, with extensive improvements that should keep it competitive in its segment. The CR-V has been a best-seller since its introduction some 30 years ago and doesn’t lend itself to complete reinvention every few years. Honda has really been content to make minor adjustments here and there to maintain the CR-V competitive.
The larger touchscreens, more sophisticated software, and features like wireless smartphone control give the new model a significantly more rugged and adventure-ready appearance. The tech also receives an upgrade. It was influenced by the larger Honda Passport SUV and Honda Ridgeline pickup truck.
Safety
While knee and rear passenger side airbags are now standard equipment, cutting-edge driver and front passenger airbag designs attempt to lessen brain injuries in offset frontal accidents.
The forward-collision warning, automated emergency braking, blind-spot warning (now standard for 2023), lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assist, adaptive cruise control, and automatic high beams are all part of the Honda Sensing safety package that is standard.
Traffic Jam Assist, a low-speed variant of lane-keeping assist, traffic sign recognition, and low-speed automated braking are some of the new features. Alerts for a sleepy driver and the backseat are also brand-new. With these upgrades, the CR-V should be able to stay up with rivals like the Nissan Rogue and Hyundai Tucson.
The Honda CR-V’s latest generation is distinguished by bold modifications to both features and design. While maintaining the traditional CR-V characteristics—a big cabin, plenty of storage space, a smooth ride, and remarkable fuel efficiency—technological improvements could help close the gap with more developed competitors.
Infotainment and Connectivity
An outdated infotainment system has allowed the Honda CR-V to get by, but that is about to change. The 2023 CR-V will include larger 7- and 9-inch touchscreens as standard equipment, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and wireless device charging on higher trim levels. Two cell phones can fit side-by-side in a compartment in front of the shifter that has USB-A and USB-C connectors. Additionally, multiple USB chargers for the backseat are added by hybrid vehicles.
Engine and Performance
The 1.5-liter turbocharged four-cylinder in the 2023 Honda CR-V is rated at 190 horsepower and 179 pound-feet of torque. It comes with a front-wheel drive and a continuously variable automatic transmission (CVT). All-wheel drive can be chosen. The peak low-end torque of the new CR-V blossoms earlier than before, resulting in better engine and pedal response.
A 2.0-liter gasoline engine with two electric motors added produces 204 horsepower and 247 lb-ft of torque in the Sport and Sport Touring grades. The new model can pull up to 1,000 pounds thanks to a 15 lb-ft torque increase. All-wheel drive is an option on all other trims but is standard on the Sport Touring model.
The Mazda CX-5 has the sportiest handling of all compact SUVs, followed by the Chevrolet Equinox and Volkswagen Tiguan. A slightly larger and broader wheelbase, a firmer chassis, and retuned suspension components promise an even sportier driving experience than before thanks to modifications to the CR-V’s structural design.
