2023 Jeep Wrangler Rubicon Xtreme Recon: Features & Canadian Trim Comparison

The 2023 Jeep Wrangler Rubicon with the Xtreme Recon package is more than a standard Rubicon wearing larger replacement tires. The factory package brings coordinated changes, but it must still be distinguished from the V8-powered Rubicon 392 and from a later Rubicon X.

What the Xtreme Recon package adds

The Canadian brochure lists 35-inch LT315/70R17C tires, 17-inch beadlock-capable wheels, a Dana M210 wide heavy-duty-tube front axle, revised suspension, wheel-flare extensions and spare-tire mounting provisions. It specifies a 4.56 axle ratio where the separate 4.88 ratio is not selected. Canadian 2023 Rubicon package description.

Beadlock-capable is not a claim that the wheels are currently operating as beadlocks. Likewise, the factory package description does not verify the current tires, gearing or modifications on a used example. Compare the build record with the vehicle as it stands.

Rubicon hardware and engine choices

The Canadian specification describes Rubicon with a 4.0:1 low-range Rock-Trac system; a full-time version is a separate availability. The 392 instead uses a different transfer-case specification. Canadian 2023 drivetrain specification. Do not transfer a 392 feature to every Rubicon.

The Canadian document rates the 3.6-litre V6 at 285 hp and 260 lb-ft, and the 2.0-litre turbo four-cylinder at 270 hp and 295 lb-ft. These are model-range engine references, not independent identification of the filmed powertrain or proof that every engine/transmission combination can receive Xtreme Recon. Exact-year Canadian engine ratings.

Cabin, roof and everyday use

Check the installed roof, seating, driver-assistance equipment and screen before comparing prices. The Canadian brochure separates trim equipment from optional groups. A vehicle with Xtreme Recon should not automatically be described as having every comfort or safety option.

Loading, towing and operating costs

Use the correct four-door model and installed equipment when checking towing and payload information. The manufacturer’s Canadian specifications separate two-door and four-door versions and also treat the V8 powertrain separately. A larger tire package is not permission to increase the vehicle’s loading limits.

For fuel use, consult the 2023 Canadian consumption guide and match the engine, transmission and tire package. An ordinary Rubicon rating should not automatically be treated as an Xtreme Recon rating.

Canadian trim comparison and pricing

These historical Canadian catalogue MSRP references were checked October 29, 2026; the original effective date is unknown. All rows refer to four-door 4×4 models, but base engines, transmissions and equipment differ. They are before Xtreme Recon and other options, destination, taxes and applicable fees—not prices for the vehicles shown or current offers.

2023 modelCatalogue MSRP (CAD)Important comparison
Sahara 4-door$56,095Comfort-oriented alternative; lacks the Rubicon front/rear locking-differential package.
Rubicon 4-door$58,595Front/rear locking differentials and disconnecting front sway bar; Xtreme Recon and required options cost extra.
Rubicon 392$107,9456.4-litre V8 and eight-speed automatic; Xtreme Recon extra.

Source: Canadian four-door catalogue. Base Rubicon is $2,500 above Sahara; base 392 is $49,350 above base Rubicon. The latter includes a major powertrain and equipment change, not merely the cost of a V8 option. Xtreme Recon and required options cost extra and are not included in these base prices.

Is Xtreme Recon the same as Rubicon 392?

No. The package name does not by itself identify the V8 model.

Is this a 4xe comparison?

No. The plug-in-hybrid 4xe is a different powertrain and is not mixed into this chart.

Are aftermarket 35-inch tires proof of the factory package?

No. Verify the original equipment record and current hardware.
