The 2023 Ford F-150 Raptor is a different proposition from a luxury-focused pickup: its appeal centres on dedicated off-road hardware. Our video asks whether the Raptor 37 Performance Package is worth it, making the distinction between the regular V6 Raptor, the 37 package and the V8 Raptor R especially important.
Watch the video below, then compare the Canadian V6 Raptor, its 37 Performance Package and the separate V8-powered Raptor R.

Engine and transmission
The V6 Raptor uses a high-output twin-turbo 3.5L EcoBoost rated at 450 horsepower and 510 lb-ft, with a ten-speed automatic and four-wheel drive. Ford Canada’s 2023 towing guide lists the engine output and ten-speed transmission; a Canadian 2023 factory sticker corroborates the 4×4 configuration. This sticker is a separate vehicle, not the truck in our video.
Raptor R is separate: Ford Canada identifies its 2023 engine as a supercharged 5.2L V8 with 700 horsepower and 640 lb-ft. Do not apply those figures to a V6 Raptor with the 37 package. Ford Canada’s 2023 Raptor R introduction.
What the Raptor 37 package changes
Ford Canada’s 2023 guide identifies the Raptor 37 Performance Package as 68R. Joliette Ford’s exact-year Canadian package listing lists 37×12.5R17 all-terrain tyres, unique 17-inch forged bead-lock-capable wheels, sport shock absorbers and Raptor 37 graphics. A separate Canadian 2023 factory sticker identifies FOX Live Valve shocks and a five-link rear suspension. These references describe equipment, not the confirmed build of our video vehicle.
Bead-lock-capable is not the same as saying the wheels are currently configured as bead locks. Likewise, fitting larger aftermarket tyres is not proof of the factory package. On a used truck, check the original build information and the components now installed, particularly if it has been modified.
Cabin and everyday use
The Raptor is offered as a four-door SuperCrew with a 5.5-foot bed. That combination can serve passengers and outdoor equipment, but the decision should include the places you park, the loading height and the accessories you plan to carry. Canadian factory sticker: SuperCrew; Joliette Ford’s 2023 listing: four doors and 66-inch bed.
Canadian fuel consumption: standard versus 37
| 2023 V6 Raptor 4×4, L/100 km | City | Highway | Combined |
|---|---|---|---|
| Standard tyre version, stop-start | 15.8 | 13.2 | 14.6 |
| Standard tyre version, without stop-start | 16.8 | 13.2 | 15.2 |
| Raptor 37, stop-start | 16.0 | 14.4 | 15.3 |
| Raptor 37, without stop-start | 16.6 | 14.8 | 15.8 |
Source: NRCan 2023 dataset. These are standardized Canadian ratings. The 37 package has its own entries, and factory stop-start removal changes the applicable comparison. The V8 Raptor R is not included in this table.
At 20,000 km annually, the 15.3 versus 14.6 L/100 km combined references imply about 140 additional litres for the 37 configuration. That arithmetic uses standardized figures, not a prediction of your actual consumption. Driving conditions, load and modifications can change the result.
Canadian pricing and package comparison
Historical Canadian references checked October 29, 2026. Unhaggle and CarCostCanada corroborate a $105,275 base Raptor reference, with CarCostCanada separately listing $2,295 freight. A contemporary March 23, 2023 Motor Illustrated report quotes the 37 option at $7,900 and Raptor R option at $40,730. These sources reflect historical pricing, not a current quote or the price of our video vehicle.
| Choice | Historical CAD reference | What changes |
|---|---|---|
| V6 Raptor base | $105,275 before freight/options | 450-hp/510-lb-ft V6, FOX Live Valve shocks and five-link rear suspension |
| Raptor 37 Performance Package | Reported option: add $7,900 | 37-inch tyres, wheels, shocks and graphics |
| Raptor R package | Reported option: add $40,730 | Separate supercharged V8 configuration |

Is the 37 package worth it?
It is the more focused choice if you specifically want the factory larger-tyre configuration and its accompanying hardware. If the truck will mainly handle ordinary errands, compare the purchase premium, replacement tyres and fuel implications before deciding. The package is not an engine upgrade, and it should not be bought on the assumption that it improves every aspect of daily use.
Is a Raptor 37 a Raptor R?
No. The 37 package can accompany the V6 Raptor; the R uses a different engine. Confirm the build rather than relying on graphics or wheel appearance alone.
