The 2024 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 LT is worth considering before moving to the more expensive trims. Its role is to combine the everyday usefulness of a full-size pickup with a modern cabin, without requiring the High Country’s premium price.

Models and configuration
LT is not LT Trail Boss. The Canadian 2024 fleet guide lists them as separate trims, with different equipment groups. GM Canada 2024 fleet guide. A listing that shortens both names to LT can hide a meaningful difference, so confirm the complete trim and the actual hardware.
Choose cab and bed dimensions before comparing prices. A Double Cab and Crew Cab do not provide the same passenger arrangement, and a longer bed changes the space required for parking. Measure your normal parking location and the loads you expect to carry.
Engine choices
The 2024 Canadian engine guide lists LT with the TurboMax 2.7-litre, a 5.3-litre V8 or the 3.0-litre Duramax diesel, depending on configuration. TurboMax uses an eight-speed automatic; the V8 and diesel use ten-speed transmissions. Canadian engine availability guide.
GM’s Canadian fleet specification rates the TurboMax at 310 hp and 430 lb-ft. Manufacturer engine rating. Do not identify the engine from the LT badge alone or assume a higher trim is necessary to obtain a particular powertrain.
Cabin and technology
A Canadian 2024 LT equipment listing documents the 13.4-inch infotainment system, 12.3-inch digital driver display, heated front seating, heated steering wheel and multi-zone climate control on that configuration. Canadian LT equipment example. Check the precise package list on any truck you consider rather than treating one inventory example as a universal specification.
Try the screen while parked, connect your phone and check whether the front seat is a bench or separate buckets. Those details affect storage and passenger capacity. Also confirm connected-service subscriptions: a factory-installed system and an active service plan are different things.
Towing and payload
Use the exact truck’s configuration and loading labels when planning a trailer. Engine, axle ratio, cab, drivetrain and packages affect what can be carried or towed. GM’s fleet tables explicitly qualify their capacities as properly equipped configurations. Configuration-specific capability tables.
Include passengers, luggage, accessories and trailer tongue weight together. An advertised family maximum should not be assigned to an LT simply because it has a hitch. Ask for the matching towing documentation before purchasing trailer equipment.
Fuel economy
There is no single fuel-consumption figure for every LT. The Canadian 2024 guide separates engine, drivetrain and tire configurations. NRCan 2024 fuel-consumption guide. Select the row matching the engine and tires rather than using a single figure for every LT.
For your own comparison, multiply annual kilometres by the correct combined L/100 km figure and divide by 100. Then use the fuel price appropriate to that engine. Keep diesel and gasoline assumptions separate and allow for driving conditions that differ from standardized testing.
Canadian trim comparison and pricing
Canadian catalogue references below were checked October 29, 2026. Their original effective date is unknown. They are vehicle MSRP references excluding freight/PDI, taxes, fees, options and incentives—not launch-price claims, live VIN quotes or used-car values. All rows use Crew Cab short-box 4WD, but the standard engines differ.
| 2024 trim | MSRP (CAD) | Base engine in comparison | Main distinction |
|---|---|---|---|
| LT | $61,599 | TurboMax 2.7L | 13.4-inch centre screen and 12.3-inch driver display. |
| LTZ | $75,999 | 5.3L V8 | Leather-appointed front seats, 20-inch wheels and standard 5.3-litre V8. |

Equipment comparison: Canadian 2024 trim information. Optional packages remain separate from the base configurations priced above.
Source: Canadian 2024 catalogue. LTZ is $14,400 above LT and High Country is $22,100 above LT in this reference comparison. Those differences include the base-engine change; they are not pure upholstery-package prices.
If you mainly want the upgraded displays and a comfortable daily-use cabin, compare an appropriately equipped LT before assuming High Country is necessary. Conversely, compare actual option totals rather than a bare LT price against a well-equipped upper trim.
