2026 Ford F-150 XLT 302A vs 2026 Silverado 1500 RST: Canadian Camera Packages, Appearance and Engine Choices

A 2026 Ford F-150 XLT can be configured into a very different truck from its starting specification. Against the 2026 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 RST, this guide uses a documented Canadian XLT Mid 302A, 3.5-litre EcoBoost, SuperCrew 4×4 with a 5.5-foot box. That gives the Ford a verified comfort and camera package rather than assuming an ordinary XLT badge includes it.

Checked October 30, 2026. This is manufacturer-specification analysis, not a back-to-back driving review. The Ford inventory record verifies a configuration, not current availability. RST is not LT Trail Boss, and optional appearance editions are not assumed.

The configured XLT closes the equipment question

Ford Canada’s selected record lists heated power front seats, dual-zone climate, 12-inch centre and instrument displays, a 360-degree camera, adaptive cruise and trailer hitching/backing assists. Source: Ford Canada XLT 302A record.

Those functions are useful reference points for the RST quote. Ask the Chevrolet dealer to identify the exact comfort and camera package that meets your checklist. Do not assume every RST includes all advertised camera views, or that a lower-priced XLT has the equipment of this example.

The RST advantage may be an engine choice, not just the look

Chevrolet lists RST’s standard TurboMax at 310 hp and 430 lb-ft with an eight-speed automatic. It offers 5.3-litre V8, 6.2-litre V8 and Duramax diesel alternatives; the 6.2-litre requires RST Crew Cab 4×4. These alternatives use ten-speeds. Source: Chevrolet Canada engine availability.

The selected Ford uses a 3.5-litre EcoBoost and ten-speed, as confirmed by its Canadian record. Source: Ford configuration details.

No horsepower winner is asserted from an unmatched or disputed Ford output figure. If a Chevrolet V8 or diesel is what you want, compare that complete configuration against the chosen Ford. Do not use the RST’s optional performance with a standard-engine price.

Test ordinary response, shifting and cabin noise on a representative route. Engine size, cylinder count and transmission ratios alone do not establish which truck you will prefer.

The appearance specification is not the functional specification

RST lists a body-colour grille bar, bumpers and handles, with 20-inch black wheels and Redline/Rally editions available. It includes a 13.4-inch centre screen and 12.3-inch instrument display. Source: Chevrolet Canada RST equipment.

That does not make every pictured wheel or special-edition detail standard. Keep appearance extras separate from cameras, seating and towing requirements on the quote. Decide whether each extra solves a need or is simply a look you are willing to pay for.

Try the larger Chevrolet display and the Ford interface while parked. Connect your phone and locate the controls you regularly use. Screen size alone does not establish the better system.

A trailer-assistance feature is not a towing rating

The Ford record identifies a Class IV hitch and trailer assists, but it does not establish every detail needed to rate the final towing setup. Ask for the actual loading label, configuration-specific trailer limit and required controller/connectors. Do the same for the Chevrolet. Ford’s 2026 Canadian F-150 towing guide requires a weight-distribution system for trailers weighing more than 5,000 lb.

Include passengers, accessories, cargo and tongue load in the calculation. A camera can help with positioning but does not increase permitted payload. Never compare a specific truck’s label with the other brand’s model-family maximum.

Price the same practical requirements

Match passenger needs, bed length and drivetrain before comparing totals. Check rear access and storage with regular passengers aboard, and verify that the complete truck fits the parking space you use. A different cab or bed can be the right choice, but then the cost and capability comparison must reflect it.

Request itemized quotes showing engine, equipment group, freight, fees, taxes and incentive eligibility. Use exact-build EnerGuide information and local fuel prices for running costs, and compare borrowing totals if financing.

The verdict

Shortlist this XLT 302A if its verified comfort and camera package meets your needs without further changes. Shortlist RST if a particular engine choice or its configured cabin is the stronger fit. The useful decision is between complete builds—not a highly equipped Ford presented at a base price or a Chevrolet judged by unpriced options.
