2025 Ford Maverick Lobo: Features & Canadian Standard vs High Guide

The 2025 Ford Maverick Lobo is a street-focused compact pickup with a 2.0L EcoBoost engine, AWD, a seven-speed Quick Shift automatic and upgraded front brakes. Lobo High adds comfort and camera equipment; it is not a different hybrid powertrain.

For the 2025 Ford Maverick, ask a Ford dealer to confirm the VIN and completed repairs for Transport Canada recall 2026259. The notice covers certain 2025 Mavericks whose front lower ball joints could separate from the steering knuckles, causing loss of steering control. If this recall applies and repairs are outstanding, Ford advises not driving the vehicle until the recall repairs are completed. Contact the dealer to arrange an inspection and any necessary steering-knuckle repairs. This does not establish that every Maverick or the vehicle shown in the video is affected.

Separately, Transport Canada recall 2025281 covers certain 2025 Mavericks with a 2.0-litre engine and a factory-installed block heater. An affected heater or its wiring can overheat or melt when plugged in, creating a fire risk. Ask Ford to check the VIN, installed heater and completed repairs. If this recall applies and repairs are outstanding, do not plug in the heater until the recall repairs are complete. The notice, updated April 16, 2026, offers dealer removal of the heater, or replacement of the heater element once the final repair is available. The dealer will also inspect the electrical cord and replace it if necessary. Confirm the currently available remedy with Ford rather than assuming the final repair is available. This does not cover the 2.5-litre hybrid, and the heater precaution does not replace the separate ball-joint do-not-drive warning.

For the 2025 Maverick, ask Ford to check the VIN and repair status for Transport Canada recall 2026162. On certain vehicles, the front-passenger occupant-classification system can turn off the passenger-front airbag even when someone is seated, increasing injury risk in a crash. The dealer replaces the front-passenger occupant-classification sensor. The model or trim name does not establish that a particular vehicle is affected or that this repair is complete.

Before relying on trailer equipment on a 2025 Maverick, have Ford check the VIN, installed integrated trailer module and completed repairs for Transport Canada recall 2026079. On certain vehicles, a software problem can disable trailer lights and, on some vehicles, trailer brakes. Ford provides an over-the-air module software update to eligible vehicles or a dealer update. A trim badge, tow rating or receiver alone does not establish an affected module, over-the-air eligibility or repair completion. These are separate, non-exhaustive recall checks.

For a 2025 Maverick with the 2.0-litre EcoBoost engine, ask Ford to check the VIN and completed repairs for Transport Canada recall 2026094. Certain vehicles have an exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) valve that may fail, causing a sudden loss of power to the wheels and increasing crash risk. The dealer replaces the EGR valve. This Maverick applicability check does not cover the 2.5-litre hybrid; the EGR valve is separate from the electric brake booster.

If the 2025 Maverick has a moonroof, have Ford check its VIN and completed repairs for Transport Canada recall 2026123. On certain vehicles, the moonroof glass may not be properly attached to its frame and could detach, creating a road hazard and increasing crash risk for others. The dealer inspects the moonroof glass date code and replaces the glass if necessary. Verify actual moonroof fitment and VIN applicability rather than treating every trim as affected; this glass recall does not apply to a truck without a moonroof.

Also ask Ford to check the 2025 Maverick’s VIN and repair status for Transport Canada recall 2025629. On a small number of vehicles, the electric brake booster control unit could overheat, causing loss of power brake assist and stability control. Loss of assist can require more pedal force and increase stopping distance. The dealer replaces the electric brake booster. Confirm this hardware replacement separately from the EGR-valve, occupant-sensor and trailer-module repairs; the model name alone does not establish that the vehicle is affected or repaired.

Engine and transmission

Canadian Lobo specifications identify a 2.0L EcoBoost engine, AWD and a seven-speed automatic with Quick Shift operation. This is not the Maverick hybrid’s powertrain. Canadian 2025 Lobo High specification.

The transmission distinction matters when comparing it with another Maverick. Do not carry over an ordinary EcoBoost model’s gearbox description just because both have a 2.0L engine. Likewise, a hybrid fuel-economy figure is not an appropriate reference for the Lobo.

What makes Lobo different

Ford’s Canadian 2025 Lobo announcement describes upgraded brakes with dual-piston front calipers and 19-inch black wheels. These are part of its street-focused specification, alongside the seven-speed transmission described above. Ford Canada’s 2025 Lobo announcement.

Standard versus High equipment

Lobo High adds heated front seats and steering wheel, a moonroof, a 360-degree camera and additional driver-assistance features. Ford Canada’s Standard and High equipment comparison. Confirm the actual build before treating those features as included on any Lobo.

Fuel consumption

The NRCan 2025 dataset lists Lobo separately from ordinary EcoBoost, Tremor and hybrid Mavericks. These are standardized ratings. At 20,000 km annually, 9.7 L/100 km represents about 1,940 litres before adjusting for your driving conditions.

Canadian trim comparison and pricing

Current Canadian manufacturer pricing for these exact 2025 configurations has not been verified as of October 31, 2026. Vehicle prices and price differences are therefore omitted; the chart compares equipment only.

Compare Lobo Standard and High with the same paint and accessories. Their equipment differences are shown here, but a current manufacturer price difference for these exact 2025 configurations has not been verified. Check Ford Canada’s official Maverick page without substituting a later-year price for a 2025 vehicle.

Pickup practicality

For towing, verify the exact truck’s published limits and installed equipment. Do not apply another Maverick configuration’s maximum rating to this one. The same caution applies to payload once occupants, accessories and cargo are included.

Buying verdict

The Lobo is most relevant when you deliberately want its street-truck character rather than simply the least expensive way into a Maverick. Compare Standard and High based on features you will use, and compare the broader Maverick range if fuel consumption or a different work requirement is your main priority. Our video helps with the layout; your own test drive and itemized quote should settle the choice.
