The 2025 Ram 1500 Longhorn combines the high-output Hurricane engine with a distinctive luxury-cabin treatment. It is worth comparing closely with Limited: the extra money is not buying a different horsepower rating. Laramie offers a lower-priced starting point, while Tungsten moves further into luxury equipment.
This guide accompanies our 2025 Longhorn walkaround and uses Canadian model-year information. It separates standard equipment from options rather than treating every feature shown on one truck as standard on the entire trim. The video description does not establish the exact VIN, factory option list or as-tested price.

For a luxury-focused comparison, the relevant Canadian choices are Laramie, Limited, Longhorn and Tungsten. Longhorn is listed as Limited Longhorn in the manufacturer’s equipment matrix. Its Canadian configuration is a Crew Cab 4×4, with a 5-foot-7-inch bed standard and a 6-foot-4-inch bed available. Quad Cab is not listed for this trim. Canadian 2025 Ram equipment matrix.
Rebel and RHO serve a different shopping brief. A Longhorn badge does not mean it automatically has the off-road hardware of either one. Compare actual equipment, tires and intended use rather than assuming that all expensive Ram trims offer the same capability package.
Engine and transmission
The Canadian Longhorn uses the high-output 3.0-litre twin-turbo Hurricane inline-six: 540 hp and 521 lb-ft, paired with an eight-speed automatic. Limited and Tungsten share the high-output engine. The standard-output Hurricane used in Laramie produces 420 hp and 469 lb-ft. Ram’s Canadian 2025 specifications.
The fuel requirement is an important ownership detail: Ram specifies 91-octane premium as required for the high-output engine. Do not apply the standard-output engine’s fuel guidance to Longhorn. Budget using the appropriate pump price rather than assuming the same cost per litre for every Ram 1500.
These are published specifications, not acceleration or refinement measurements from the walkaround. If you are replacing a different powertrain, a test drive should include your normal parking, merging and commuting conditions before deciding whether the change suits you.
Towing and payload
There is no single towing number that should be assigned to every Longhorn. Cab, bed, axle ratio, options and the actual loaded truck matter. A range-wide Ram maximum is not proof that the vehicle in this video can tow that amount.
The Canadian equipment matrix lists the trailer brake controller as optional or package-dependent, not something to assume from the presence of a hitch. Verify the factory build sheet, towing documentation, hitch and wiring before purchase. Passengers, cargo, accessories and trailer tongue weight also use payload; the door-jamb label on the specific truck is the useful starting point.
Fuel economy
Natural Resources Canada lists the 2025 Ram 1500 4×4 high-output 3.0-litre at 15.7 L/100 km city, 11.5 highway and 13.8 combined. The standard-output 4×4 is rated at 14.0 city, 9.8 highway and 12.1 combined. The separate RHO rating is not the Longhorn figure. NRCan’s 2025 fuel-consumption data.
At 20,000 km annually, the combined ratings represent about 2,760 litres for the high-output truck and 2,420 litres for the standard-output version. That is a 340-litre difference before accounting for fuel grade. Actual winter, urban and towing use can differ substantially from the standardized rating.
Interior and bed practicality
Longhorn’s brown leather interior treatment is its most obvious distinction from Limited; the Canadian catalog reference specifies Bison Brown/Mountain Brown ventilated leather bucket seats. Try the seat and driving position rather than choosing solely from photographs. Canadian Longhorn catalog configuration.
Ram’s Canadian matrix lists four-corner air suspension as standard on Longhorn, Limited and Tungsten, while it is optional on Laramie. That is an equipment distinction, not a claim here that one delivers a measured ride-quality advantage.
The Canadian training material lists power running boards, a spray-in bedliner and RamBox storage for Limited/Longhorn. When shopping a particular truck, inspect how the bed and storage layout suit your cargo. Check available width, bed length and accessory compatibility instead of assuming every published bed-volume figure applies to every storage configuration.
Infotainment and connectivity
A 12-inch Uconnect 5 navigation screen and 12-inch digital instrument cluster appear in the Canadian Limited/Longhorn standard-equipment information. The 14.5-inch centre screen is listed in the Limited Level 1 equipment group. Screen size alone therefore needs checking against the actual build, not just the trim badge. Canadian 2025 equipment training guide.
The same group adds features including a head-up display and digital rear-view mirror. Before paying for an option package, try its controls and visibility in person. Also confirm phone compatibility and connected-service terms on the specific vehicle; a used or previously registered truck may not have the same remaining service period as a new delivery.
Safety and driver assistance
The Canadian training guide lists adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go, lane-keeping assistance and pedestrian emergency braking for Limited/Longhorn. Surround-view cameras and additional driving/parking assistance appear in the Level 1 group. These distinctions are especially useful when comparing similarly priced inventory with different option lists.
Driver-assistance systems are not a substitute for supervision or checking surroundings. Ask for a demonstration of the exact installed features and consult the owner’s manual for operating conditions. This walkaround does not establish an independent crash-test result or validate the performance of those systems.
Pricing in CAD
These are Canadian 2025 Crew Cab 4×4 catalog MSRP references checked October 28, 2026. They are not launch prices, current transaction quotes or the reviewed truck’s confirmed sticker. Freight/PDI, excise, levies, applicable luxury tax, sales taxes, registration and additional options are excluded. Advertised rebates are also excluded so discounted cash offers are not mixed with MSRP.
| 2025 trim | Reference MSRP (CAD) | What the step buys |
|---|---|---|
| Laramie | $79,645 | Standard-output Hurricane; a lower-priced luxury starting point. |
| Limited | $92,145 | High-output Hurricane and standard air suspension. |
| Longhorn | $93,245 | Limited-based configuration with the distinctive Longhorn interior treatment; includes the catalog’s $1,100 package. |
| Tungsten | $105,345 | High-output engine plus 24-way massaging front seats, 23-speaker Klipsch audio and a 14.5-inch centre display. |
The catalog references put Limited $12,500 above Laramie, Longhorn $1,100 above Limited and Tungsten $12,100 above Longhorn. The Longhorn disclosure itemizes $92,145 plus its $1,100 package; that total is used in the table rather than quietly omitting the package. Sources: Laramie, Limited, Longhorn, Tungsten.
The Longhorn reference adds $2,395 freight/PDI, $100 air-conditioning excise and $32.50 Saskatchewan tire duty, reaching $95,772.50 before sales taxes. That is a regional catalog example, not an Ontario all-in quote. Request the complete price for the exact truck and separate any incentive from the underlying equipment cost.
Competition and choosing a trim
Limited is the closest comparison if the high-output engine and air suspension are priorities but the Longhorn interior is not. Laramie deserves a look if its equipment meets your needs at a lower reference price. Tungsten makes sense to investigate when its specific seat, audio and display upgrades matter more than Longhorn’s cabin theme.
Ford F-150 King Ranch, GMC Sierra Denali and Chevrolet Silverado High Country are other luxury-pickup directions to explore. Compare the exact model year, cab, engine, towing configuration and option packages. A similarly positioned badge does not make two trucks identically equipped, and the highest horsepower figure is not a substitute for checking payload and running costs.
