The 2025 Ford F-150 STX Black Appearance is an alternative to paying for a luxury trim when the main priority is a dark exterior treatment. Its black wheels sit alongside a cloth interior, a 12-inch SYNC 4 screen and useful driver-assistance equipment. The Black Appearance Package changes the specification and price, but it should not be mistaken for a towing or off-road package.
This guide accompanies our 2025 STX Black Appearance video. Canadian SuperCrew 4×4 factory records provide the equipment and price comparisons below. They are reference builds, not the video truck’s confirmed VIN or invoice; its exact engine and axle are not established by the description.

Models available
The 2025 F-150 family includes XL, STX, XLT, Lariat, King Ranch, Platinum, Tremor and Raptor. STX is the appearance-oriented choice near the more affordable end of that range. XLT offers additional equipment groups, while Lariat moves into a more comfort-focused cabin. Tremor and Raptor need separate comparisons because their off-road specifications change the purpose of the truck.
Cab size and drivetrain matter as much as the badge. The chart keeps SuperCrew, four-wheel drive and the labelled 145-inch wheelbase consistent. It does not use the starting price of a Regular Cab work truck to make the STX appear more expensive.
Engine and transmission
Ford Canada’s 2025 F-150 towing guide rates the 2.7-litre EcoBoost V6 at 325 hp and 400 lb-ft of torque. The reference STX uses this engine and an electronic ten-speed automatic. The F-150 range also offers a 5.0-litre V8 rated at 400 hp and 410 lb-ft, but a range-wide engine list does not prove which engine is installed in the truck you are considering.
An appearance package is not a power upgrade. Look at the engine line on the original build record before comparing acceleration expectations, fuel use or towing. The PowerBoost hybrid and Raptor engines mentioned in the video description belong to the wider F-150 discussion; their specifications should not be assigned to an STX Black Appearance.
Towing and load limits
The Canadian STX record includes a Class IV trailer hitch, but lists its integrated trailer-brake controller separately at $350. That distinction matters: a receiver does not establish that all required towing equipment is present, and the Black Appearance Package does not supply a higher tow rating.
Ford’s 2025 towing chart separates configurations by engine, axle ratio, wheelbase and gross combined weight rating. The July reference truck has a regular 3.55 axle and a 6,650-lb GVWR package. Neither its GVWR nor the F-150 family’s maximum trailer rating is the usable payload or tow limit of every STX. Obtain the individual truck’s loading label, account for passengers and trailer tongue weight, and match the complete build to the guide. Ford limits trailer weight to 5,000 lb without a weight-distribution system.
Fuel economy
Natural Resources Canada rates the 2025 F-150 4×4 with the 2.7-litre engine at 13.1 L/100 km city, 10.2 highway and 11.8 combined. The 5.0-litre 4×4 is rated at 14.8 city, 10.3 highway and 12.8 combined. These are standardized ratings, not fuel consumption measured in our video. NRCan 2025 fuel-consumption data.
At 20,000 km a year, the combined figures represent 2,360 litres for the 2.7 or 2,560 litres for the V8. Multiply the 200-litre difference by your expected gasoline price. Short winter journeys, idling and towing can change the budget substantially, so use these figures as a comparison rather than a promise.
Interior, seating and everyday equipment
The STX reference build has black cloth front seats divided by a console, rather than a front bench. This is an important difference when checking passenger capacity. The trim’s appeal is a straightforward cabin without paying for the leather or premium seating equipment found higher in the range.
Its equipment list includes power windows and locks, a tilt-and-telescoping steering column, rear privacy glass and a locking tailgate. Check rear-seat access with the people or child restraints that will regularly travel in the truck. Also measure the parking space with mirrors considered; a lower trim price does not make a SuperCrew smaller.
The $1,875 Black Appearance Package on the July label includes 20-inch gloss-black aluminum wheels. The selected tire size is 275/60R20. Compare replacement tires and a winter setup in that actual size instead of budgeting around the smaller wheels used by another F-150. A dark wheel finish is a styling decision, not evidence of an off-road suspension upgrade.
Infotainment and safety
The STX includes SYNC 4 with a 12-inch touchscreen. Its Canadian equipment record also lists blind-spot monitoring with cross-traffic alert, lane keeping, pre-collision assistance with automatic emergency braking, post-collision braking, a reversing camera and rear parking sensors. Those features assist the driver rather than making the vehicle autonomous.
The XLT 302A reference adds a 360-degree camera, dual-zone climate control, a power-sliding rear window and trailer-assistance functions. These are concrete reasons to compare an XLT rather than assuming the two trucks differ only in grille or wheel design. Test the cameras and controls on the actual vehicle and confirm connected-service entitlements instead of assuming an original trial remains active.
Pricing in CAD
The following are dated Canadian 2025 factory-label figures, checked on October 28, 2026. The comparison amount adds the named equipment group to base MSRP, but excludes other options, destination, $100 air-conditioning excise tax, label reductions and sales taxes. Dates differ: this documents historical builds, not one simultaneous price list or a current dealer quote.
| 2025 SuperCrew 4×4, 145-inch wheelbase | Historical amount (CAD) | Label date | Equipment and configuration distinction |
|---|---|---|---|
| STX 200A, 2.7L | $66,490 | July 15, 2025 | $64,690 base + $1,800 group. Cloth/console cabin and SYNC 4; Black Appearance is extra. |
| STX 200A + Black Appearance, 2.7L | $68,365 | Same July label | Adds $1,875 for the appearance package, including 20-inch gloss-black wheels. |
| XLT 302A, 2.7L | $71,815 | February 10, 2025 | $64,375 base + $7,440 group. Camera, climate and convenience gains; its Black Appearance option is a separate $675. |
| Lariat 501A, 3.5L | $82,895 | October 9, 2025 | ActiveX upholstery, heated/ventilated front seats and B&O audio. Includes a different engine; not a trim-only premium. |
The documented STX Black Appearance amount is $3,450 below the XLT 302A amount before their other options and different delivery charges. The July STX lists $2,595 delivery, $100 excise, $550 block heater, $350 brake controller and a $105 dealer-installed spare-tire lock. After $2,250 in printed factory reductions, its complete label total is $69,815 before taxes. Those reductions are historical, not a currently available offer.
Competition and which F-150 makes sense
STX makes sense when cloth seating and the existing screen and safety equipment meet your needs, and the dark-wheel appearance is worth its separate cost. XLT deserves the extra comparison when camera coverage and cabin convenience matter more than styling. Lariat is a more expensive comfort purchase and should be priced with its different engine and seating specification included.
The Ram 1500, Chevrolet Silverado 1500, GMC Sierra 1500 and Toyota Tundra are relevant alternatives. Match cab, bed, drivetrain, towing equipment and actual payload before comparing payments. For a separate model-year perspective, our 2026 STX review and 2026 XLT review cover newer trucks; their prices are not substituted here.
