The 2026 Tesla Model Y Long Range AWD Launch Series combines the refreshed cabin and exterior with a bundled equipment package. Full Self-Driving (Supervised), Acceleration Boost and a tow hitch were included, while buyers could choose 19-inch or 20-inch wheels without changing the base vehicle price. The larger wheels did change the advertised range.
This guide covers the Launch Series featured in our video, using Canadian launch-period specifications and pricing.

Models available at launch
The refreshed Canadian Model Y initially had one trim: Long Range AWD Launch Series. Tesla’s March 15, 2025 Canadian configurator lists that single active configuration. The previous-design Model Y appeared separately in its comparison material; its RWD, AWD and Performance names should not be read as additional refreshed Launch Series trims.
Launch Series identification included a rear badge, puddle-light graphic, door-sill lettering and charging-console wordmark. The package also used distinctive textile trim and vegan suede with the black interior.
Electric powertrain and controls
Dual-motor all-wheel drive and Acceleration Boost are part of the Launch Series specification. Tesla’s Canadian launch-period figures were 4.3 seconds from 0–100 km/h and a 201-km/h top speed.
Gear selection moves to the centre touchscreen. With the brake pressed, the drive selector lets the driver choose forward or reverse; backup P, R, N and D controls are provided in the overhead console. The layout leaves the centre console without a conventional gear lever.
Regenerative braking slows the vehicle when the accelerator is released and returns energy to the battery. Its available strength can be reduced when the battery is cold or full. The brake pedal remains necessary whenever additional stopping force is required.
Range and energy consumption
The March 2025 Canadian configurator quoted 526 km with 19-inch Crossflow wheels, labelled an EPA estimate, and 488 km with 20-inch Helix 2.0 wheels, labelled an estimate. That is a 38-km difference despite the identical starting vehicle price.
Natural Resources Canada’s 2026 Fuel Consumption Guide lists two 526-km Long Range AWD entries: AWD-I at 16.1 city, 18.2 highway and 17.1 combined kWh/100 km; and AWD-B built before June 11, 2025 at 16.7 city, 18.2 highway and 17.3 combined. The video vehicle’s certification designation has not been established, so neither row is assigned to it. Later AWD-B entries carry a 542-km rating.
Across those two combined ratings, 20,000 km corresponds to approximately 3,420–3,460 kWh for energy-cost planning. Weather, speed, loading and heating use affect actual consumption and range.
Interior, seating and cargo access
The Launch Series has five seats. The front seats are heated, ventilated and power-adjustable, while the second row adds powered reclining and folding. Wraparound ambient lighting, aluminum detailing and soft-touch textiles accompany the redesigned cabin.
The rear bench accommodates three passengers and uses a 60/40 split. The centre backrest can also fold independently for long items. Powered seat controls in the cargo area make it possible to change the load layout from the tailgate rather than walking around to each rear door.
A hands-free power-opening tailgate is another change identified in Tesla’s launch comparison. Acoustic glass and revised noise-reduction hardware accompany the retuned suspension.
Screens, audio and connectivity
The original Launch Series specification uses a 15.4-inch centre touchscreen and an 8-inch rear touchscreen. Audio hardware consists of 15 speakers plus a subwoofer.
The centre display handles vehicle settings, navigation, media and climate functions. Rear passengers have their own interface for climate and entertainment, and compatible Bluetooth headphones can keep rear-screen audio separate. Streaming services and data access remain subject to the applicable connectivity arrangements.
Charging and winter use
The charging port sits behind a flap at the driver-side rear light. Charging limits and current can be adjusted through the touchscreen, and the charging display shows power, battery level and estimated time remaining. Tesla’s launch configuration lists Supercharger access on a pay-per-use basis, not unlimited free charging.
For winter driving, Tesla recommends warming the cabin and battery before departure, ideally while plugged in. Navigating to a Supercharger with Trip Planner can prepare the battery for charging. Cold-battery limits can affect charging, acceleration and regenerative braking, making preconditioning particularly relevant to Canadian use.
Driver assistance and safety
Full Self-Driving (Supervised) was included in the Launch Series package. It requires an attentive driver and does not make the vehicle autonomous. Its functions depend on software, operating conditions and regulatory availability; the package name is not permission to stop supervising the road.
The launch safety list includes automatic emergency braking, forward-collision warning, blind-spot monitoring and emergency lane-departure avoidance. These are assistance systems with detection limits, not guarantees that a collision will be prevented.
Canadian launch pricing and configuration comparison
The table uses Tesla Canada’s March 15, 2025 configurator snapshot, two days before the video was published. The $84,990 figure is the base vehicle price in CAD, before delivery-related charges, applicable fees, sales tax and licensing. It is historical launch pricing, not a current quote.
| Canadian launch configuration | Starting CAD | Included wheel choice | Advertised range |
|---|---|---|---|
| Long Range AWD Launch Series | $84,990 | 19-inch Crossflow | 526 km (EPA est.) |
| Same trim with 20-inch wheels | $84,990 | 20-inch Helix 2.0; no added charge | 488 km (est.) |
These rows describe two wheel choices within one trim. There was no lower-priced refreshed Canadian trim in the active configuration list at this snapshot.
| Launch Series item | Package treatment |
|---|---|
| Full Self-Driving (Supervised) | Included |
| Acceleration Boost | Included |
| Tow hitch | Included in the package |
| Stealth Grey, Pearl White, Ultra Red or Quicksilver | No added paint charge |
| All Black interior | Included |
| Black and White interior | No added charge when offered; marked sold out in this snapshot |
The wheel choice is the clearest no-cost trade-off: the 19-inch configuration carries the higher range estimate, while the 20-inch option changes the appearance. The package’s value otherwise depends heavily on wanting its bundled software and towing equipment, rather than simply wanting the refreshed body and cabin.
Frequently asked questions
Does Launch Series mean Performance?
No. This is the Long Range AWD Launch Series with Acceleration Boost. It should not be given the specifications or equipment of a later Model Y Performance.
Was a seven-seat Launch Series offered in this Canadian snapshot?
No. The active Launch Series configuration specifies five seats. Seven-seat equipment from other Model Y versions does not apply to it.
Are the larger wheels more expensive?
Not in this launch package. Both wheel choices were included at the same base price, but their advertised range figures differed.
