The 2026 Ram 1500 Tungsten and GMC Sierra 1500 Denali Ultimate approach luxury pickups differently. Ram combines a 540-horsepower twin-turbo six-cylinder with elaborate seating and a 23-speaker audio system. GMC offers a V8 or diesel, an Alpine Umber leather interior and its MultiPro tailgate. Both are five-seat Crew Cab trucks; their specific equipment and loaded capability matter more than a flagship badge.
This comparison uses Canadian specifications and CAD pricing, with the walkaround below showing their design and cabin layouts.

Tungsten vs Denali Ultimate: Models Available

Tungsten sits above Limited and Limited Longhorn in Ram’s range. Tradesman, Express, Big Horn, Sport, Rebel, Laramie and RHO serve other price and equipment priorities, alongside appearance and off-road configurations such as Black Express, Warlock and Backcountry.
Sierra choices include Pro, Pro Graphite, SLE, Elevation, SLT, AT4, Denali, AT4X and Denali Ultimate. Ultimate is the premium Denali choice, whereas AT4X adds dedicated off-road hardware. This article compares the luxury trims rather than borrowing capability or equipment from the off-road versions.
Engine Specifications
Tungsten’s standard 3.0-litre high-output Hurricane twin-turbo inline-six makes 540 hp and 521 lb-ft, paired with an eight-speed automatic. The researched Canadian Crew Cab 4×4 configuration has a 3.92 axle ratio and a 7,100-lb gross vehicle weight rating. The HEMI option offered on Limited and Longhorn is not listed as a Tungsten choice.
Denali Ultimate’s standard 6.2-litre EcoTec3 V8 produces 420 hp and 460 lb-ft. The available 3.0-litre Duramax turbo-diesel produces 305 hp and 495 lb-ft. Both GMC engines use a ten-speed automatic. The Ultimate is offered as a four-wheel-drive Crew Cab with the short bed. Its standard V8 is naturally aspirated, so describing both trucks as turbocharged would be inaccurate.
Tungsten vs Denali Ultimate: Seating and Interior

Both trucks seat five with front bucket seats and a full centre console. Ram’s Tungsten offers 24-way adjustable front seats with heating, ventilation, memory and massage functions. GMC’s Ultimate has full-grain Alpine Umber leather and 16-way front seats with heating, ventilation and massage. Adjustment counts describe different mechanisms, so they are not a complete measure of seat suitability.
The Ram emphasizes extensive seat customization and flagship cabin detailing. GMC adds wood trim and Denali-specific interior patterns. Compare the actual seat controls, rear-seat arrangement and storage spaces when choosing, especially if child seats or several adult passengers are regular requirements.

Infotainment and Audio

Tungsten has Uconnect 5 NAV and the large portrait touchscreen marketed as 14.5 inches; the Canadian configuration selector calls it 14.4 inches. Its 23-speaker Klipsch Reference Premiere system includes a 1,228-watt amplifier and a 12-inch subwoofer. Smartphone integration and connected services are part of the technology offering, with subscription conditions applying to some services.
GMC uses a 13.4-inch central touchscreen with Google built-in compatibility, a 12.3-inch driver display and a 12-speaker Bose Premium Series system with Centerpoint. Google services and some connected functions require subscriptions. Screen orientation, menus and account requirements are practical differences beyond the diagonal screen measurement.

Safety and Driver Assistance
Denali Ultimate’s Canadian standard-equipment list includes enhanced automatic emergency braking, front pedestrian braking, forward collision alert, trailer side blind-zone alert and rear cross-traffic braking. HD Surround Vision, front and rear parking assistance, rear pedestrian alert and a Safety Alert Seat are also listed. Some trailer camera views need an additional auxiliary camera.
Super Cruise is standard on Denali Ultimate, with a three-year trial stated by GMC. Ram offers Hands-Free Active Driving Assist in its upper-trim technology offering, along with intersection collision assistance, drowsy-driver detection and surround-view cameras. Confirm the individual Tungsten equipment list and connected-service terms. Both hands-free systems have compatible-road and driver-monitoring requirements; they are assistance systems, not autonomous driving.
Bed Features and Towing
GMC’s six-function MultiPro tailgate is a standard feature, with a short bed measuring approximately 1,776 mm in the Canadian configuration information. Ram offers a multifunction tailgate separately; its builder also lists towing groups and a trailer brake controller as selectable equipment. Compare the actual bed-storage and tailgate configuration rather than assuming every display vehicle matches the standard build.
Ram Canada lists the high-output Hurricane range at up to 10,000 lb (4,536 kg) towing and 1,510 lb (685 kg) payload when properly equipped. These are engine-range maximums, not a guaranteed Tungsten rating. GMC’s Denali family page advertises up to 9,200 lb (4,173 kg), but that headline also must not replace the individual Ultimate’s rating. Broader Sierra maximums from other trims are not appropriate figures for this comparison.
Use each truck’s door label and configuration-specific trailering information. Passengers, accessories, cargo and trailer tongue weight consume payload. A luxury trim can reach its payload limit before an advertised towing maximum, making the actual label especially important.
Tungsten vs Denali Ultimate: Fuel Economy
The 2026 Fuel Consumption Guide lists Ram 1500 high-output 4×4 at 15.7 L/100 km city, 11.5 highway and 13.8 combined. Sierra 4WD with the 6.2-litre V8 is listed at 16.0 city, 12.1 highway and 14.3 combined. Premium gasoline is identified for both entries.
The Sierra 4WD diesel listing is 10.7 city, 9.3 highway and 10.1 combined, using diesel fuel. Those are engine/drivetrain comparison ratings rather than a separate test of every flagship option combination. Tire specification, towing, weather and load can alter actual consumption.
CAD Pricing
The Ontario Ram builder displayed C$101,248 estimated cash for the default Tungsten. The GMC Crew Cab short-bed 4WD selector showed MSRP-from references of C$116,252 for the V8 Ultimate and C$113,858 for the diesel. These price labels are not directly equivalent: Ram’s cash amount depends on incentives, while GMC’s selector uses an MSRP-from label.
Compare itemized quotes with the same treatment of freight, fees, options, discounts and taxes. The Ram selector listed a multifunction tailgate at C$1,095 and a trailer brake controller at C$495. Individual paint, towing and bed choices can change a final quote.
Which Truck Fits Your Priorities?
Tungsten stands out for engine output, front-seat adjustability and its elaborate Klipsch system. Denali Ultimate provides a diesel alternative, standard Super Cruise and a multifunction tailgate. Neither is automatically the better fit without considering the particular equipment list and load requirements.
Ford F-150 Platinum or King Ranch, Toyota Tundra Capstone and Chevrolet Silverado High Country are additional Canadian alternatives. Lower-priced Ram Limited, Longhorn and GMC Denali configurations may also provide the features you want without the full flagship package.
