The 2026 Honda Pilot Black Edition is the top Canadian trim of Honda’s three-row SUV. It combines an eight-seat cabin with black exterior details, perforated leather upholstery, a panoramic moonroof and Bose audio. For 2026, the larger centre screen and Google built-in are important changes to include when comparing it with earlier Pilots.
This guide adds independently checked Canadian specifications, CAD pricing and equipment details to our walkaround video. It covers the Black Edition configuration.

Models Available
The Canadian 2026 Pilot range includes Sport, EX-L, TrailSport, Touring and Black Edition. All use the same V6, 10-speed automatic and i-VTM4 AWD system. Black Edition builds on the comfort and technology of Touring with distinctive wheels, exterior trim and cabin details.
TrailSport is the separately equipped off-road alternative, with its own suspension, tires and seven-seat layout. Black Edition has 20-inch Berlina Black aluminum-alloy wheels and 255/50R20 all-season tires. Its black mirror housings, grille bar and bumper garnishes distinguish it from Touring without giving it TrailSport’s hardware.
Engine, Transmission and AWD

The 3.5-litre naturally aspirated V6 produces 285 horsepower at 6,100 rpm and 262 lb-ft of torque at 5,000 rpm. Honda pairs it with a 10-speed automatic transmission, shift-by-wire controls and steering-wheel paddle shifters. The specification includes direct injection, dual variable timing control and idle-stop technology.
Intelligent Variable Torque Management AWD, or i-VTM4, is standard. Black Edition’s selectable modes include Normal, ECON, Snow, Sport, Tow, Trail and Sand. The mode list describes vehicle functions; it should not be used as a substitute for the distinct TrailSport suspension and tire specification.
Towing and Loading
Honda lists a maximum towing capacity of 2,268 kg, or 5,000 lb, for Black Edition. The vehicle must have the appropriate towing equipment and remain within the owner’s-manual limits for passengers, cargo and tongue weight. A published rating does not confirm that every required hitch component is already installed.
Trailer Stability Assist is part of the equipment. When planning a trailer, compare its loaded weight with the SUV’s actual ratings and payload label. Occupants, luggage, accessories and trailer tongue weight share the available payload, so filling all eight seats can change how much additional load is practical.
Fuel Economy
Honda’s 2026 Canadian specification sheet lists 12.7 L/100 km city, 9.4 highway and 11.2 combined for Black Edition, with regular gasoline recommended and a 70-litre fuel tank. Touring has the same published figures, while Sport, EX-L and TrailSport have different entries.
These ratings use the Government of Canada’s five-cycle testing method and are intended for comparison. Towing, winter conditions and carrying a heavy load can change actual consumption. The Black Edition name does not represent a separate higher-output engine.
Eight Seats and the Removable Centre Seat

Black Edition has eight seats with the second-row centre seat installed: two in front, three in the middle and three in the rear. Its on-demand removable second-row middle seat allows a seven-seat arrangement with a passage between the remaining second-row seats. That flexibility differs from TrailSport’s fixed seven-seat specification.
The second row folds in a 40/20/40 arrangement and the third row has a 60/40 split. Heated second-row seats serve the outboard positions, rather than every position in the middle bench. Buyers should consider how the centre seat, child seats and third-row access will be used together.
Interior and Comfort Equipment

Black Edition uses perforated leather with contrast stitching, piping, faux-suede accents and Black Edition logos. The driver’s seat has 10-way power adjustment including two-way power lumbar, while the passenger seat has four-way power adjustment. Front seats are heated and ventilated, and a memory system stores driver-seat and mirror settings.
Standard comfort equipment includes a heated leather-wrapped steering wheel, tri-zone automatic climate control, second-row temperature controls, integrated second-row sunshades and a panoramic moonroof with power shade. Honda’s current 2026 table specifies white ambient lighting; red lighting descriptions from older model years should not be carried over automatically.
A hands-free power tailgate includes programmable height and walk-away auto close. Smart Entry serves the front and rear doors and tailgate, while rain-sensing wipers, power-folding mirrors and acoustic glass at the windshield and front windows are also listed.
Cargo Space and Dimensions

Honda lists 635 litres behind the third row, 1,702 litres behind the second row and 3,175 litres behind the front row for Black Edition. Each figure represents a different seat arrangement. The all-seats-up measurement is the relevant starting point for luggage when all three rows are occupied.
Overall length is approximately 5,083 mm, with a 2,891-mm wheelbase and 1,803-mm height. Unloaded ground clearance is 185 mm. Cargo tie-downs, a reversible cargo lid and interior storage help organize items, while optional accessories should be included in the final purchase quote.
Infotainment, Bose Audio and Displays

For 2026, Black Edition includes a 12.3-inch centre touchscreen with Google built-in, wired and wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and a 10.2-inch digital instrument display. These specifications replace older nine-inch-screen descriptions. Google functions and connected services remain subject to their activation and data terms.
A 12-speaker Bose system, including a subwoofer, is standard. Honda also lists CabinTalk, a Qi-compatible wireless phone charger, Bluetooth audio and Wi-Fi hotspot capability. USB-C connections serve the cabin, including 60-watt charging provisions in the front and second row. A head-up display is included in Black Edition’s comfort equipment.
Safety and Driver Assistance
Honda Sensing includes adaptive cruise control with Low-Speed Follow, Collision Mitigation Braking with pedestrian detection, forward-collision warning, lane-departure warning, Lane Keeping Assist, Road Departure Mitigation, Traffic Jam Assist and traffic-sign recognition. Automatic high beams are also standard.
Black Edition includes Blind Spot Information with Lane Change Assist, Cross Traffic Monitor, Low-Speed Braking Control, front and rear parking sensors and a multi-view camera system. Camera washers serve the front and rear. These functions support an attentive driver and work within their specified limits.
The safety specification also includes the ACE body structure, front and side airbags, three-row side curtains with a rollover sensor, post-collision braking, a rear-seat reminder and child-seat lower and tether anchors. Check the owner’s manual for the anchor locations and requirements for each seat position.
Pricing in CAD
Honda’s Canadian trim-comparison page displayed a Black Edition selling price of $69,653. Honda defines its displayed selling-price format as including freight, PDI, listed levies and fees, and dealer fees, with sales taxes excluded unless selected. Province and retailer details can change the quote, so this should not be presented as MSRP alone.
The same comparison displayed Sport at $58,803, EX-L at $61,403, TrailSport at $64,903 and Touring at $68,153. Black Edition was therefore $1,500 above Touring in that displayed pricing context. Paint, accessories, registration, taxes and current offers affect the final amount. These figures are dated references rather than the as-tested price of the walkaround vehicle.
Competition and Buying Considerations
Pilot Black Edition competes with upper trims of the Toyota Grand Highlander, Hyundai Palisade, Kia Telluride, Ford Explorer, Chevrolet Traverse and GMC Acadia. Compare the precise seating arrangement, cargo space with the third row occupied, included safety equipment and the required towing hardware.
Within the Pilot range, Touring shares much of Black Edition’s major comfort and technology equipment. Black Edition’s additional cost principally adds its visual and upholstery treatment. TrailSport addresses a different equipment priority. For families using all three rows, the removable centre seat and the correctly stated eight-seat maximum are especially useful points to compare.
