The 2026 Mercedes-Benz GLS 450 4MATIC is a full-size luxury SUV with three rows, a turbocharged inline-six and a broad standard comfort specification. The Canadian model includes air suspension, leather upholstery and front-seat massage, but seating configuration and option packages still make a meaningful difference to equipment and price. This guide focuses on verified specifications.
The Automotive Car Reviews walkaround below provides a visual reference for the vehicle. Equipment on the individual SUV should be matched to its build sheet.

2026 GLS Models Available
The Canadian GLS lineup includes the GLS 450 4MATIC, GLS 580 4MATIC and Mercedes-AMG GLS 63 4MATIC+. The 450 has a 375-horsepower inline-six, the 580 is listed at 510 horsepower and the AMG GLS 63 at 603 horsepower. Mercedes-Maybach GLS 600 is a separate luxury derivative. These model numbers identify different powertrains and equipment; Pinnacle and AMG Line packages on a GLS 450 do not turn it into a GLS 580 or AMG GLS 63.
GLS 450 Engine and Powertrain

The GLS 450 uses a 3.0-litre turbocharged inline-six with mild-hybrid assistance. Mercedes-Benz lists 375 horsepower and 369 lb-ft of torque, a 9G-TRONIC nine-speed automatic and fully variable 4MATIC all-wheel drive. A hybrid integrated starter-generator supports the combustion engine. This is not a plug-in hybrid and does not require external charging.
The Canadian specification calls for premium unleaded gasoline and lists a 90-litre fuel tank. Standard AIRMATIC suspension provides air springs, adjustable ride height and automatic levelling. The separate equipment table identifies Adaptive Damping System ADS PLUS as optional, so the presence of AIRMATIC alone should not be used to assume every suspension option is installed.
Towing and Fuel Economy
Mercedes-Benz rates the GLS 450 for 3,500 kg of towing, approximately 7,716 lb, and lists a trailer hitch as standard Canadian equipment. Optional Trailer Manoeuvring Assist is a separate C$500 selection. The towing limit must still be used with the approved trailer setup and the vehicle’s payload and tongue-weight limits. Loading all seven seats can reduce the carrying capacity remaining for luggage and hitch load.
Natural Resources Canada’s 2026 guide lists the GLS 450 4MATIC at 12.7 L/100 km city, 9.6 highway and 11.3 combined, using premium fuel. These official ratings fill the gap left by the manufacturer page’s “TBD” fuel fields. Actual consumption varies with weather, trip length, cargo and trailer load.
Seven Seats Standard, Six Optional
The GLS 450 has seven seats as standard: two in front, three across the second-row bench and two in the third row. The optional second-row captain’s chairs reduce capacity to six, with a 2-2-2 arrangement. The Canadian builder lists this seating choice at C$700. A GLS 450 should therefore not be described as a six-seater without confirming that option.
Mercedes-Benz lists cargo capacity from 355 to 2,400 litres, depending on the seating arrangement. The upper figure requires folded rear seats. The third row has a power-folding 50/50 split, while the second row also has power adjustment and folding functions. Check child-seat installation and access with the seating configuration you intend to buy.
Interior and Comfort Features

Standard equipment includes leather upholstery, heated and ventilated power front seats with memory, multicontour front-seat massage, heated second-row seats, a heated steering wheel and heated front and rear armrests. Four-zone THERMOTRONIC climate control and a panoramic sunroof are included, along with a power tailgate and foot-activated release.
The interior has 64-colour ambient lighting and standard Anthracite Open-pore Oak trim. Optional five-zone climate control adds C$600, heated third-row seats C$500 and soft-close doors C$750 in the configurator checked for this article. The C$7,000 Premium Rear Seating Package is a separate upgrade, rather than equipment fitted to every GLS 450.

MBUX Infotainment and Audio

The GLS 450 includes two 12.3-inch displays: a digital instrument cluster and a central multimedia touchscreen. MBUX supports natural-language voice commands, navigation and augmented-reality navigation, with a head-up display also listed as standard. Wireless Apple CarPlay, wireless Android Auto and front wireless charging are included, supported by multiple USB-C ports.
The standard Burmester Surround Sound System supports Dolby Atmos. A C$7,000 Burmester High-End 3D system is a separate option. Rear-seat entertainment is listed at C$2,300, and second-row wireless charging is optional. Some navigation updates, live traffic and Digital Extras have included periods rather than lifetime access, so check renewal terms before relying on connected functions.
Safety: Standard and Optional

The Canadian standard list includes Active Brake Assist, Blind Spot Assist, Vehicle Exit Warning, ATTENTION ASSIST, Traffic Sign Assist, Active Parking Assist and a 360-degree camera. PRE-SAFE and PRE-SAFE Sound are included, together with 11 airbags, tire-pressure monitoring, stability control, Crosswind Assist and adaptive high-beam assistance.
The more extensive Driver Assistance Package is optional at C$2,800. Mercedes-Benz’s optional list includes Active Distance Assist DISTRONIC, Active Steering Assist, Active Lane Keeping Assist, Active Lane Change Assist and additional collision-related functions. Basic Blind Spot Assist should not be confused with the optional Active Blind Spot Assist. Confirm the package on the actual vehicle rather than assuming all advertised assistance features are standard.
Exterior and Appearance Packages
Standard GLS 450 wheels are 21-inch alloys, with aluminum roof rails, privacy glass and LED lighting. AMG Line Exterior costs C$4,600, while AMG Line Exterior with Night Package is C$5,200 in the checked builder. These are appearance and equipment selections for the GLS 450; they do not replace its inline-six with the AMG GLS 63 engine. Selected 22-inch and 23-inch wheels carry additional charges and may require packages.
2026 GLS 450 Pricing
The Canadian builder showed C$121,400 for the default GLS 450 before provincial fees were applied. With Ontario selected and no extra-cost options chosen, its displayed all-inclusive selling price was C$132,989. Mercedes-Benz explains that this selling-price basis includes freight/PDI, applicable levies and dealer charges, plus its estimated luxury-tax surcharge where applicable; sales tax, licence, insurance and registration are extra.
Use the two figures for different purposes: the vehicle price establishes the starting specification, while the selling-price estimate includes the builder’s additional charges. Packages, paint, wheels, seating and negotiated dealer terms can change the total. Request an itemized quote and keep temporary incentives separate from the base model price.
Competition and Choosing a Configuration
Three-row luxury alternatives include the BMW X7, Audi Q7, Cadillac Escalade, Lincoln Navigator and Genesis GV80 in a suitable seating configuration. Compare usable cargo space with all required seats raised, rather than relying only on each model’s largest folded-seat figure. Different body sizes and seating layouts make those comparisons more useful than badge or horsepower alone.
For the GLS 450, choose the seven-seat bench or six-seat captain’s-chair layout first, then decide whether the Driver Assistance Package and rear-seat upgrades justify their added cost. Its standard equipment already includes several premium features, while the option list allows a much more expensive configuration.
