The 2025 Kia Sorento X-Line Limited is the comfort-and-technology step above X-Line, not a more powerful version of it. Quilted leather seats, front-seat ventilation, Bose audio and additional camera views are its main upgrades. The X-Line underneath it already has the turbo engine, panoramic sunroof and heated second-row seats, making the price difference worth examining feature by feature.
This guide accompanies our 2025 Sorento X-Line Limited video. It uses Canadian specifications and separates the gasoline model from the Hybrid and Plug-in Hybrid. The video identifies the trim, but its description does not establish an exact VIN, option list or as-tested price.

Models available
The Canadian 2025 gasoline lineup consists of LX, EX, X-Line, X-Line Limited and X-Pro. All have AWD. LX is the seven-seat starting point; EX and the trims above it use a six-passenger layout. Choosing a higher trim therefore does not mean adding another seat.
X-Pro is a separate capability-oriented choice above Limited. Its smaller wheels and all-terrain tires should not be mistaken for lower specification simply because Limited uses larger wheels. Compare what each package does for your use rather than assuming bigger wheels are always an upgrade. Kia Canada’s 2025 Sorento brochure.
Engine and transmission
X-Line Limited uses a 2.5-litre turbocharged four-cylinder rated at 281 hp and 311 lb-ft, paired with an eight-speed wet-type dual-clutch automatic. EX, X-Line and X-Pro share that powertrain. LX instead has a non-turbo 2.5-litre engine producing 191 hp and 181 lb-ft with an eight-speed conventional automatic. Kia specifies regular unleaded gasoline.
The transmission distinction matters when comparing listings: “eight-speed automatic” alone does not identify the same gearbox in every Sorento. A test drive should include the parking, stop-and-go and hill-start situations you normally encounter. The specifications here are not an assessment of shift quality or acceleration measured in the walkaround.
Towing and load limits
The Canadian brochure lists a properly equipped X-Line Limited maximum of 3,500 lb. X-Line shares that figure, while X-Pro reaches 4,500 lb. LX and EX are listed at 2,000 lb, so sharing the turbo engine does not automatically give EX the Limited’s trailer rating. Kia Canada’s 2025 fleet guide also separates the Limited and X-Pro limits.
A trailer rating is not the vehicle’s payload allowance. Check the actual loading label, hitch, wiring and trailer requirements, accounting for occupants, luggage and tongue weight. A family filling all six seats should not assume the headline tow limit is available regardless of the load in the vehicle. Confirm the complete setup before buying a trailer or choosing a trim around towing.
Fuel economy
Natural Resources Canada rates the 2025 turbo Sorento AWD with its dual-clutch transmission at 11.5 L/100 km city, 8.7 highway and 10.3 combined. The non-turbo automatic version is rated at 10.2 city, 8.5 highway and 9.4 combined. These match the Canadian model brochure and are standardized comparisons, not fuel use measured in this review. NRCan 2025 fuel-consumption data.
At 20,000 km a year, those combined figures represent 2,060 litres for the turbo or 1,880 litres for the non-turbo, a 180-litre difference. Multiply by your expected gasoline price to estimate the annual gap. Short winter trips, traffic and towing can change actual use; the highway figure is not a suitable budget for an entirely urban routine.
Interior, seating and cargo
The six-seat arrangement is an important part of the upper-trim purchase. Check the second-row layout, third-row access and child-seat installation with your own passengers. Do not assume that a vehicle marketed as a three-row SUV can accommodate seven, or that a maximum cargo number represents luggage space with every seat occupied.
Limited’s seating upgrades include driver memory, additional lumbar adjustment, a driver cushion extension and a power passenger seat. Rear-door sunshades are also included. These are useful differences to try in person, particularly if drivers share the vehicle or rear passengers spend a lot of time aboard.
Kia publishes 357 litres of cargo space behind the third row, 1,090–1,274 litres behind the second row and 2,139 litres behind the first row. The middle measurement is published as a range rather than a single capacity. Measure the space with the seats set for the people who will occupy them rather than relying only on the largest figure.
Infotainment and connectivity
The 12.3-inch multimedia screen is not exclusive to Limited. Its more significant display upgrade is a 12.3-inch instrument cluster in place of the smaller base cluster. Limited also adds Bose premium audio, Digital Key 2 and a 110-volt outlet; navigation is already included on X-Line.
Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are listed in Kia’s Canadian equipment information. Try your normal phone, navigation and music workflow before purchasing. Confirm compatible-device requirements for Digital Key and the remaining Kia Connect service term on a previously registered vehicle rather than treating connected services as permanently included.
Safety features and driver assistance
The Limited adds Surround View Monitor, Blind View Monitor, reverse parking collision-avoidance assistance and Highway Driving Assist 2. X-Line uses Highway Driving Assist 1. The base range already includes lane-keeping, lane-following and blind-spot collision-avoidance assistance, so the distinction is not simply “safety features versus none.”
Camera views and assistance systems do not replace looking around the vehicle or maintaining control. Ask for a demonstration of the relevant settings, and check that cameras and sensors work correctly. This article does not claim an independent safety test or a measured collision-avoidance result.
Pricing in CAD
The following are Canadian 2025 model-specific base MSRP records checked October 28, 2026, not current transaction offers or the video vehicle’s confirmed price. They exclude freight/PDI, air-conditioning excise, dealer fees, paint, accessories and sales taxes. The Limited and X-Pro references use black interiors; do not silently substitute an extra-cost interior package.
| 2025 gasoline AWD trim | Listed base MSRP (CAD) | What changes |
|---|---|---|
| EX AWD | $42,995 | Turbo engine, six seats, synthetic upholstery, dual-zone climate and power liftgate. |
| X-Line AWD | $47,995 | Adds panoramic sunroof, heated second row, navigation and X-Line styling; 3,500-lb towing maximum. |
| X-Line Limited AWD, black interior | $50,995 | Adds quilted leather, ventilated front seats, Bose, larger instrument cluster and additional camera/assistance systems. |
| X-Pro AWD, black interior | $52,495 | Adds 17-inch wheels/all-terrain tires, digital rear-view mirror and suede headliner; 4,500-lb towing maximum. |
The EX, X-Line and Limited figures come from Smiths Falls Kia’s model-year listings; X-Pro’s base amount is preserved in an indexed Harris Kia listing. The documented steps are $5,000 from EX to X-Line, $3,000 from X-Line to Limited and $1,500 from Limited to X-Pro. Limited price breakdown; X-Pro model-year listing.
The Limited reference adds $2,100 freight/PDI, $100 excise and a $699 administration fee, reaching $53,894 before taxes and licensing. The EX and X-Line records show a different $599 administration fee. Keep the base-price comparison separate from those fees, and request a complete written quote for the particular vehicle.
Competition and which Sorento makes sense
X-Line is the important lower-price comparison because it already supplies several family conveniences. Limited is more compelling if seat ventilation, leather, premium audio and surround-view cameras are priorities. X-Pro deserves a separate look when its tire package and higher towing ceiling address a real need; it is not just a cosmetic step above Limited.
The Hyundai Santa Fe and Mitsubishi Outlander are useful alternatives to investigate. If regular third-row adult use and luggage space are priorities, compare larger vehicles as well. Our 2026 Palisade Ultimate Calligraphy guide covers a different size and model-year choice, not specifications to substitute into this Sorento.
