2025 Ford Maverick Lariat: Specs, Features & Canadian Pricing

The 2025 Ford Maverick Lariat combines a compact pickup bed with heated front seats, a heated steering wheel, B&O audio and a 360-degree camera. The important change for buyers considering the hybrid is the availability of all-wheel drive. That makes the powertrain comparison worth doing before deciding how much to spend on appearance options.

This guide accompanies our 2025 Maverick Lariat video. The video description discusses both the hybrid and EcoBoost engines without identifying the featured truck’s complete build. Canadian reference configurations are therefore kept separate below, including their fuel ratings and towing equipment.

Models available

The 2025 Maverick range includes XL, XLT, Lariat, Lobo and Tremor. XL and XLT provide lower-cost entry points. Lariat concentrates on comfort and convenience, while Lobo is a street-oriented specification and Tremor has its own off-road equipment. Those specialized versions should not be treated as ordinary Lariats with different wheels.

The price comparison focuses on XLT and Lariat with the same 2.0-litre engine, AWD and eight-speed automatic. A separate Lariat hybrid row makes the powertrain change visible. This avoids comparing a front-wheel-drive entry model with a better-equipped AWD truck and describing the entire difference as the cost of the trim.

Engine and transmission

The 2.5-litre full hybrid uses an electric motor and a power-split electronically controlled continuously variable transmission. Ford lists 191 hp for the combined system. The gasoline engine’s torque figure should not be described as total hybrid-system torque or added to the motor’s separate peak figure.

The alternative 2.0-litre EcoBoost four-cylinder produces 250 hp and 277 lb-ft in Ford’s updated 2025 technical specifications. The conventional Lariat EcoBoost uses an eight-speed automatic. Lobo’s seven-speed transmission is a different specification. Ford bases its published engine performance figures on premium fuel; those figures are specifications, not acceleration results measured for this article.

Towing and load limits

Ford Canada’s 2025 Maverick towing guide allows a properly equipped hybrid AWD or EcoBoost AWD to tow up to 4,000 lb with the optional 4K Tow Package. Without that package, the relevant listed limit is 2,000 lb. Lariat equipment alone does not prove that the truck has the 4K package.

The 4K package adds a Class III receiver, 4-/7-pin connector, trailer-brake controller and cooling provisions. Ford lists a radiator upgrade specifically for the gasoline engine. The 4K receiver’s maximum tongue load is 400 lb, versus 200 lb for the 2K receiver. Passengers, accessories and trailer tongue weight all use available carrying capacity; use the individual loading label, not the range-wide maximum payload.

Trailer frontal area also matters. The Canadian guide specifies 29 square feet without 4K and 40 square feet with it. A tall enclosed trailer can present a different load from a low utility trailer of the same weight. The video description does not confirm the towing package, so neither maximum is presented as the featured truck’s verified tow rating.

Fuel economy

Natural Resources Canada rates the 2025 Maverick Hybrid AWD at 5.8 L/100 km city, 6.9 highway and 6.3 combined. The regular EcoBoost AWD is rated at 10.6 city, 7.8 highway and 9.4 combined. These are the applicable standardized AWD comparisons, not the lower front-wheel-drive hybrid figure or the separate Lobo and Tremor ratings. NRCan 2025 data.

At 20,000 km annually, those combined figures imply 1,260 litres for the hybrid or 1,880 litres for the EcoBoost, a difference of 620 litres. Multiply that difference by your expected fuel price when considering the hybrid’s purchase premium. Short winter journeys, towing and driving conditions will change actual consumption; the arithmetic is a planning comparison.

Interior, seating and cargo

The Maverick has a five-seat SuperCrew cabin. Its rear bench flips up to access under-seat storage, while the pickup box provides a separate space for dirty or bulky items. Ford lists a bed length of 54.4 inches at the floor. Check your actual load with the tailgate position considered rather than assuming a compact truck can carry the same items as a full-size long-bed pickup.

Canadian Lariat equipment records list dual-zone automatic climate control, heated front seats, a heated steering wheel, ambient lighting and rear USB connections. The sliding rear window and box lighting are included convenience features. The power tilt-and-slide moonroof is a separate $1,200 option on the dated reference labels; it is not included simply because the truck is a Lariat.

Infotainment and driver assistance

The Lariat combines a 13.2-inch touchscreen with an 8-inch instrument information display. B&O audio and a wireless charging pad are included on the Canadian reference build. Check phone compatibility and connected-service activation separately, especially when buying a previously registered example.

Its equipment list includes adaptive cruise control, a 360-degree camera, front and rear parking sensors and pre-collision assistance with automatic emergency braking. Pro Trailer Backup Assist and Pro Trailer Hitch Assist are also listed, with Ford’s towing guide noting their early-2025 availability. Camera and hitch-assistance technology does not increase the truck’s rated trailer weight or replace a physical connection check.

Pricing in CAD

These are historical Canadian 2025 factory-label amounts, inspected through retained or indexed original-label text on October 28, 2026. Direct Ford downloads may now return a placeholder. Base prices below exclude options, destination, the $100 air-conditioning excise charge and sales taxes. The two EcoBoost labels share January 15, 2025; the hybrid label is dated March 18, 2025.

2025 AWD configurationHistorical base MSRPEquipment distinction
XLT 302A, 2.0L EcoBoost$37,500Lower-cost cabin; Luxury Package and 4K Tow Package are separately priced on its label.
Lariat 502A, 2.0L EcoBoost$44,500Adds the documented Lariat comfort, audio, camera and assistance equipment; moonroof and 4K remain optional.
Lariat 501A, 2.5L hybrid$46,500Different powertrain and transmission. Includes AWD on this build; optional 4K permits the higher trailer rating.

The matched January EcoBoost base-price difference is $7,000. Both January records list $2,195 delivery. The Lariat therefore starts at $46,795 including delivery and excise, before options and sales taxes. Its $1,200 moonroof, $900 4K package and remaining listed additions bring the complete reference label to $50,120. This is not the video truck’s invoice.

The March hybrid label totals $53,500 with delivery, excise, moonroof, a $2,000 Black Appearance Package, 4K and other accessories. Its $2,000 higher base price than the January EcoBoost is a comparison between dated records, not a guarantee that the hybrid option always cost that amount throughout the model year.

Competition and which Maverick makes sense

Lariat is worth comparing with an optioned XLT when heated controls, better audio and camera coverage are priorities. For frequent urban use, the hybrid’s substantially lower standardized city consumption deserves attention. If towing is important, price the required 4K equipment on both rather than assuming the EcoBoost automatically gives you the larger limit.

The Hyundai Santa Cruz is a relevant compact-pickup alternative. A Ranger is worth considering when a larger truck better suits the work, but parking size, fuel use and total price should remain part of that comparison. Our 2026 Maverick Lariat AWD guide and 2026 Maverick XLT AWD guide cover a different model year and do not supply the 2025 prices here.

Frequently asked questions

Can the hybrid tow 4,000 lb?

The 2025 hybrid AWD can reach that maximum with the 4K Tow Package and within the loading limits. A hybrid badge alone is not enough.

Is the moonroof standard on Lariat?

No. The Canadian reference labels price it separately at $1,200.

Which engine is in the video truck?

The supplied video description discusses both powertrains without confirming the installed engine. This guide keeps both configurations separate.
