The 2025 Ford F-150 XLT is a useful starting point if you want to spend on the features you need rather than automatically moving to a luxury trim. The challenge is that “XLT” can describe very different trucks. Cab, drivetrain, engine and equipment packages need to be part of the comparison from the start.
Watch our 2025 XLT video below, then compare Canadian cab choices, equipment packages and the step up to Lariat or Tremor.

Models available
A lower advertised XLT starting price may refer to a two-wheel-drive SuperCab rather than the four-wheel-drive SuperCrew you want. The former has a different rear-seat arrangement and box configuration. Start by choosing the cab and drivetrain, then compare equipment within that shortlist. This avoids mistaking a change in the truck itself for the cost of an options package.
Engine and transmission
The XLT configuration shown in the trim chart has a 2.7L EcoBoost V6 and 10-speed automatic. The available PowerBoost hybrid is a separate powertrain choice. Check availability against the chosen cab and drivetrain instead of assuming every combination can be ordered.
What the packages change
A Canadian 2025 XLT SuperCrew 4×4 reference vehicle with the 2.7L engine lists 302A Mid, Black Appearance Package Plus and Bed Utility Package as separate equipment choices. Their current manufacturer prices have not been verified, so no package amounts or combined upgrade total are quoted. Match the required equipment rather than assuming every XLT includes the same packages.
Interior and technology
The 2025 Canadian model overview identifies a 12-inch touchscreen in the F-150 range and an available 360-degree camera for XLT. A large screen alone does not tell you which assistance features a particular truck includes. Check the camera views, controls and phone setup on the actual vehicle. Canadian feature overview.
Fuel consumption
| 2025 2.7L reference | City | Highway | Combined |
|---|---|---|---|
| F-150, 2WD | 12.8 | 9.5 | 11.3 |
| F-150 4×4 | 13.1 | 10.2 | 11.8 |
L/100 km from NRCan’s 2025 ratings. These figures illustrate why drivetrain belongs in the comparison. A different engine requires its own rating.
Towing and safety
Choose the truck around your loaded trailer and payload requirement before adding cosmetic options. Ask for the VIN-specific capacity information and confirm whether the required trailer equipment is included. A hitch on the back of a truck is not enough information to determine what it can safely tow. Driver-assistance features should also be checked by equipment group, not assumed from the XLT badge. Ford’s Canadian 2025 towing guide requires a weight-distribution system when the loaded trailer exceeds 5,000 lb. That requirement does not increase the truck’s permitted towing or payload limits. Canadian trim comparison and pricing
Trim equipment: Canadian 2025 F-150 overview. Tremor’s trail hardware and Lariat’s cabin upgrades serve different priorities; one is not simply a fully equipped version of the other.
Current Canadian manufacturer pricing for these exact 2025 configurations has not been verified as of October 31, 2026. Vehicle prices and price differences are therefore omitted; the chart compares equipment, not current purchase costs.
| 2025 configuration | What the choice prioritizes |
|---|---|
| XLT: 2WD SuperCab, 6.5-foot box, 2.7L | 12-inch touchscreen; 360-degree camera available. Different cab and drivetrain |
| Tremor: 4WD SuperCrew, 5.5-foot box, listed 3.5L | Locking rear differential, off-road dampers and 33-inch all-terrain tires |
| Lariat: 4WD SuperCrew, 5.5-foot box, listed 3.5L | Heated/ventilated ActiveX seats, B&O audio and 360-degree camera |
The XLT row uses a different cab and drivetrain. Match the cab, four-wheel drive, engine and required packages before comparing it with Tremor or Lariat. No current manufacturer price difference is verified here.
Competition and buying verdict
For a value-focused full-size pickup shortlist, compare appropriately equipped Chevrolet Silverado LT, GMC Sierra SLE and Ram 1500 Big Horn configurations. The best XLT is the one that meets the job without unnecessary extras. Its broad range makes careful specification worthwhile, but also makes a simple “starting from” price a poor substitute for a complete quote.
Frequently asked questions
Is every XLT a four-wheel-drive SuperCrew?
No. Check the cab, box and drivetrain in the actual listing before comparing prices.
Is XLT always better value than Lariat?
Not automatically. Add the packages you want first, then compare complete prices and included equipment.
