2025 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 ZR2: Specs, Features & Canadian Pricing

The 2025 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 ZR2 is the Silverado to examine when off-road hardware matters more than a luxury badge. Its suspension and locking differentials are the main distinction, not simply a different grille or a larger touchscreen.

Models available

ZR2 and High Country serve different priorities. The comparison below uses the same cab, box and drivetrain category but makes the engine differences explicit. A regular Silverado configured for towing is another useful comparison; off-road equipment is not a guarantee of the highest towing rating.

Engine and transmission

Chevrolet Canada’s 2025 ZR2 builder lists the 3.0-litre Duramax diesel and ten-speed automatic as standard. The diesel produces 305 hp and 495 lb-ft. A 6.2-litre V8 is available; GM’s Canadian fleet guide rates that engine at 420 hp and 460 lb-ft. Canadian ZR2 builder; 2025 Canadian GM Fleet Guide.

Those ratings describe the available engines. Check the VIN equipment record before comparing fuel requirements, service needs or an individual truck’s price.

Suspension and off-road equipment

The factory ZR2 specification includes lifted suspension with Multimatic DSSV dampers, driver-selectable front and rear locking differentials, skid plates and a two-speed transfer case. Standard wheels are 18 inches with Goodyear Wrangler Territory MT tires. Chevrolet’s standard-equipment listing.

That hardware provides a concrete reason to consider ZR2 rather than buying on appearance alone. Before purchasing a used example, inspect the underbody, wheels and tires, and ask about modifications and previous use.

Towing and payload

Chevrolet lists a trailering package and integrated trailer brake controller. Use the actual vehicle’s labels and towing documentation to establish capacity; passengers, cargo, accessories and trailer tongue weight all affect the available margin.

If your main job is towing rather than trail use, compare a towing-focused Silverado configuration first. Do not apply the range’s biggest advertised towing number to ZR2 or substitute an HD truck’s rating.

Fuel economy

NRCan lists separate 2025 ZR2 ratings: diesel 11.7 city, 10.3 highway and 11.1 combined L/100 km; the 6.2-litre gasoline version is 17.1, 14.1 and 15.7 respectively. These are standardized ZR2 figures, not ordinary Silverado 4WD figures or consumption measured in our video. NRCan 2025 data.

Compare fuel spending using your kilometres and local diesel or premium-gasoline prices. The lower litres-per-distance figure is only one part of ownership; purchase price, maintenance and your driving pattern also matter.

Interior and technology

The Canadian builder includes perforated-leather front bucket seats and a 13.4-inch infotainment screen with Google built-in. HD Surround Vision and front/rear parking assistance are also listed. Connected features may require a plan, and camera views do not replace checking the surroundings.

A Canadian ZR2 inventory example lists a Technology Package, head-up display, sunroof and Multi-Flex tailgate. Treat these as items to verify on the build sheet, not proof that every ZR2—or the truck in our video—has the same options. Canadian ZR2 equipment example.

Pricing in CAD

Current Canadian manufacturer pricing for these exact 2025 configurations has not been verified as of October 31, 2026. Vehicle prices and price differences are therefore omitted; the chart compares equipment only.

Check Chevrolet Canada’s official model and shopping page for manufacturer pricing. Match the exact model year, body, drivetrain and options; a later-year starting price is not a price for the 2025 vehicle reviewed here.

Choosing a trim

ZR2 makes the most sense to investigate when you specifically want its chassis hardware. High Country is the comparison if cabin equipment and everyday convenience take priority. Price an actual build of each, including the engine you want, rather than comparing a diesel starting price with a loaded V8.

Frequently asked questions

Does every 2025 ZR2 have a V8?

No. The Canadian builder lists the diesel as standard and the catalogue also offers a V8 configuration.

Does off-road equipment increase towing capacity?

Not automatically. Use the exact truck’s certified limits and loading calculation.

Is this the Silverado HD ZR2?

No. This article covers the Silverado 1500; HD specifications must not be substituted.
