The 2025 Cadillac Escalade IQ Luxury 1 is the entry equipment level of Cadillac’s large electric SUV, not a gasoline Escalade with an electric motor substituted under the hood. Its dedicated EV layout, charging needs and different trim structure make it a separate shopping decision.
Our Luxury 1 video is below. This Canadian guide keeps the 2025 IQ separate from the gas-powered Escalade, ESV and later IQL. Compare the charging equipment and comfort additions that separate Luxury 1 from level 2.

Models available
The Canadian 2025 IQ range offers Luxury 1, Sport 1, Luxury 2 and Sport 2. Luxury and Sport provide different appearance treatments, while moving from level 1 to level 2 changes the equipment package. Do not carry over the gasoline Escalade’s Premium Luxury or Platinum names when comparing these cars. Canadian 2025 IQ trim overview.
Electric powertrain and performance
Cadillac describes a two-motor all-wheel-drive system with manufacturer-estimated output of up to 750 hp and 785 lb-ft when Velocity Max is selected. Those maximum figures refer to that mode, not ordinary operation in every setting. Canadian IQ powertrain announcement.
The same launch documentation identifies four-wheel steering, air suspension and adaptive damping. These systems are worth demonstrating on the actual vehicle, particularly in a parking area: the IQ is still a large SUV even when steering assistance makes manoeuvring easier.
Range and charging
Brossard Cadillac’s updated 2025 guide advertises up to 740 km of range. Treat that as the published estimate, not a verified winter or towing result. The earlier Canadian launch announcement used 724 km, illustrating why preliminary figures and later product information should not be mixed without their dates. Updated Canadian 2025 guide · Earlier launch estimate.
The Canadian trim guide lists 11.5-kW AC charging for Luxury 1 and 19.2-kW capability for Luxury 2. A higher-capacity onboard charger only helps when the power supply and installed charging equipment can support it. Confirm the particular car’s charging module before using a higher-trim charging claim to estimate overnight recovery. Canadian charging-equipment comparison.
Before purchase, get an installation assessment for home charging and check compatible public charging on your regular routes. Plan a margin for weather, detours and stops rather than treating an advertised maximum as your usable trip distance. Charging time depends on the power supply, battery temperature and starting charge level.
Interior and practicality
The IQ adds a lockable front storage compartment, advertised at 345 litres by the Canadian dealer guide. That is useful separate storage, but it should not be confused with rear luggage space or added indiscriminately to a seats-up rear-cargo figure. Canadian IQ storage information.
Infotainment and connectivity
The IQ’s front display arrangement measures 55 inches in total diagonal. Cadillac’s Canadian 2025 configuration information lists Google built-in, including Google Maps and Google Assistant, with service-plan and account requirements for some functions. Do not assume it has the same phone interface as the gasoline Escalade: demonstrate your preferred apps and phone tasks before buying. 2025 Luxury 1 connectivity details.
Luxury 1 includes AKG Studio audio. Higher equipment levels offer the Studio Reference system, so compare the actual installed system and listen to it rather than selecting a trim solely from an audio specification. The available rear executive-seating package should likewise be verified, not inferred from promotional interior photographs. IQ equipment levels.
Safety and driver assistance
The Canadian 2025 introduction identifies Super Cruise as standard with an included three-year plan. Hands-free capability is limited to supported conditions and compatible roads, and the driver must remain attentive. Verify the remaining service entitlement on a previously registered vehicle. Super Cruise launch specification and conditions.
The Canadian dealer trim guide places Night Vision among Luxury 2 and Sport 2’s features; it should not be assumed on Luxury 1. Ask for the build sheet and an operating demonstration of any feature important to your purchase. A camera visible on the exterior is not enough to identify thermal Night Vision. Competition and choosing a trim
Start with the equipment you will actually use. Luxury 1 already offers the large-screen cabin and electric all-wheel-drive layout. Level 2 is a substantial extra purchase, and its higher AC charging capability has less value if your charging setup cannot supply the extra power.
Compare other three-row electric SUVs using passenger access, luggage space with seats occupied and charging arrangements—not just maximum horsepower. If comparing against a gasoline Escalade, include home-charger installation, energy costs and your travel patterns. Neither powertrain is automatically the better fit for every household.
Frequently asked questions
Is the Escalade IQ a plug-in hybrid?
No. The IQ is battery-electric; it is separate from the gasoline Escalade range.
Does choosing Luxury 2 automatically make home charging faster?
It adds higher AC charging capability in the published trim guide, but the installation and available electrical supply must support it. Confirm the vehicle and charger together.
Is the 740 km figure a result from this review?
No. It is the advertised range in the cited Canadian guide. Actual range varies with weather, speed, load and driving conditions.
