The 2024 Toyota RAV4 XLE Premium AWD adds cabin and appearance equipment to the gasoline XLE rather than changing its basic engine. For Canadian buyers, it is important to separate this vehicle from the similarly named Hybrid XLE Premium and from the more extensively equipped Limited.

Models available
Toyota offers separate gasoline, hybrid and plug-in RAV4 families for 2024. In the gasoline lineup, XLE Premium is an upgrade from XLE; Trail and Limited make different equipment and AWD-system choices. A shared trim name should not be used to transfer hybrid powertrain or wheel specifications. Toyota Canada 2024 lineup.
Engine and transmission
The Canadian gasoline RAV4 uses a 2.5-litre four-cylinder rated at 203 hp with an eight-speed automatic. XLE Premium retains that powertrain. Its specification should not be replaced by the hybrid’s 219 hp combined output or E-CVT. Canadian 2024 product summary.
Fuel economy
Toyota’s Canadian XLE matrix lists 8.8 L/100 km city, 7.1 highway and 8.0 combined, matching NRCan’s RAV4 AWD Stop/Start category. The gasoline LE and other AWD configurations have different rows, so a generic RAV4 rating is not sufficiently precise. Toyota’s XLE rating · NRCan 2024 guide.
At 20,000 km, 8.0 combined represents about 1,600 litres annually. The regular RAV4 Hybrid AWD’s 6.0 combined reference would represent 1,200 litres on the same calculation. That 400-litre difference is useful context for comparing powertrains, but purchase price, driving conditions and ownership duration still affect the financial result.
What Premium adds
Over gasoline XLE, Toyota lists 19-inch alloy wheels, SofTex upholstery, LED fog lamps, driver-seat memory and an alarm-equipped immobilizer system. These are equipment changes, not a higher-output engine. Canadian XLE Premium description.
Driver memory can be particularly useful if two people share the car, but test the seating position and adjustment range first. Compare the wheel and tire sizes when requesting replacement-tire quotes. A larger wheel is an appearance choice as well as an ownership-cost consideration, not proof of a better ride for your roads.
Interior and practicality
The Canadian product summary lists five seats and a split-folding rear seat. Check rear access with your child restraints or regular passengers, and load bulky luggage through the actual hatch opening. If you often carry a dog crate or stroller, verify the fit with the seats in the positions you need. Canadian seating and cargo configuration.
Inspect the upholstery, cargo floor and power liftgate on a used example. Convenience features are only valuable if they work correctly, and the condition of a lower trim may be more attractive than a poorly maintained higher one.
Infotainment and connectivity
XLE uses an 8-inch multimedia screen and six speakers. Limited steps up to a 10.5-inch screen and JBL audio; those features should not automatically be attributed to XLE Premium. Canadian multimedia matrix.
Safety and driver assistance
The Canadian matrix lists Toyota Safety Sense 2.5, including radar cruise control and lane-assistance functions. These support an attentive driver rather than making the vehicle self-driving. Check the actual systems and warnings during an inspection, and do not assume every higher-trim camera feature is present. 2024 safety matrix.
Pricing in CAD
Current Canadian manufacturer pricing for these exact 2024 configurations has not been verified as of October 31, 2026. Vehicle prices and price differences are omitted; the table compares equipment only.
| 2024 AWD configuration | What changes |
|---|---|
| Gas XLE | Base XLE equipment without the Premium upgrade. |
| Gas XLE Premium | SofTex, 19-inch wheels, LED fog lamps and driver memory. |
| Hybrid XLE Premium | Different hybrid powertrain; not identical equipment. |
| Gas Limited | 10.5-inch touchscreen and JBL audio instead of the 8-inch/6-speaker system. |
Consult Toyota Canada for its current model range. Confirm the model year, drivetrain, trim and fee basis; a later model-year price is not a verified price for this 2024 vehicle.
Choosing a configuration
If driver memory and the upgraded upholstery are the main goals, compare XLE with XLE Premium first. If fuel use matters most, price the hybrid separately rather than assuming Premium itself improves efficiency. Limited should earn its extra cost through equipment you want; the trim name alone is not a reason to spend more.
Is XLE Premium necessarily a hybrid?
No. Canada offers separate gasoline and hybrid versions with similar names; this article covers the gasoline model.
Does Premium add horsepower over gasoline XLE?
No. Both use the published 203 hp gasoline powertrain.
