2024 Toyota Grand Highlander Hybrid Limited

The 2024 Toyota Grand Highlander Hybrid Limited pairs the larger Grand Highlander body with the regular hybrid powertrain and an upgraded cabin. The key distinction is that Hybrid Limited is not Hybrid MAX: paying more for Limited equipment does not turn it into the highest-output version.

Models available

Canada’s 2024 Grand Highlander range includes gas XLE and Limited, hybrid XLE and Limited, and Platinum Hybrid MAX. All Canadian configurations use AWD. Toyota Canada’s launch announcement.

Hybrid powertrain

Hybrid Limited uses the 2.5-litre four-cylinder hybrid system with an E-CVT. Toyota Canada lists 243 hp for this powertrain, versus 362 hp for the distinct Hybrid MAX. The latter uses a turbocharged 2.4-litre hybrid system and six-speed automatic, not the Limited’s powertrain. Canadian 2024 powertrain matrix.

Fuel economy

NRCan rates Grand Highlander Hybrid AWD Limited at 6.6 L/100 km city, 7.4 highway and 7.0 combined. Hybrid MAX has its own 8.8 combined rating and should not be used as the regular hybrid’s consumption figure. NRCan 2024 guide.

At 20,000 km, the 7.0 combined rating represents approximately 1,400 litres annually, versus 1,760 litres using the MAX’s combined figure. This 360-litre difference is an illustration using standardized ratings, not a guaranteed saving. Consider your distance and fuel prices alongside the purchase-price difference.

Interior and practicality

Hybrid Limited has seven seats with second-row captain’s chairs; Hybrid XLE has an eight-seat bench layout. Limited’s equipment includes leather-trimmed seating, ventilated front seats, heated second-row seats, driver memory and a panoramic moonroof. Canadian seating and comfort matrix.

The larger body is only useful if it works in your real parking and loading situations. Measure your garage, open the doors in a realistic space and try third-row access with your child restraints installed. Load luggage with every required seat raised before deciding that the extra size solves your family’s cargo needs.

If eight passengers are a regular requirement, consider the XLE layout before moving up to Limited. A higher equipment level cannot make up for losing a seat you need. Conversely, try the captain’s-chair arrangement if easy access and separate second-row seats are your priorities.

Infotainment and connectivity

The 12.3-inch touchscreen is not exclusive to Limited. Limited adds an 11-speaker JBL system and a 12.3-inch digital instrument display over XLE’s simpler audio and instrument arrangement. Canadian multimedia matrix.

Safety and towing

Toyota lists Safety Sense 3.0 across the range. These assistance systems require an attentive driver. The regular hybrid’s published towing limit is 3,500 lb, below the Hybrid MAX’s 5,000 lb; verify the actual vehicle’s loading limits and required towing equipment. Hybrid XLESame regular hybrid family, 8-seat layout.
Hybrid LimitedLeather, ventilated front seats, heated second row, panoramic roof and JBL audio; 7 seats.
Platinum Hybrid MAX362-hp Hybrid MAX powertrain rather than the regular hybrid; distinct Platinum equipment.

Consult Toyota Canada for its current model range. Confirm the model year, drivetrain, trim and fee basis; a later model-year price is not a verified price for this 2024 vehicle.

Choosing a trim

Hybrid Limited is worth considering when you want the regular hybrid’s fuel rating with its cabin upgrades. Compare XLE if seating capacity and price matter more; compare MAX only if its different performance and towing specification answer a real need. Do not assume the top configuration is automatically the most useful family vehicle.

Is Hybrid Limited the Hybrid MAX?

No. They have different engines, transmissions, output and fuel ratings.

Does Limited seat eight?

The Canadian 2024 Hybrid Limited specification is seven seats; Hybrid XLE provides the eight-seat layout.
