Models and seating

The Canadian specification gives Signature six seats in a 2/2/2 layout. GT and GT-P seat seven, while other configurations can accommodate eight. Signature is a mild hybrid, not the plug-in CX-90 PHEV. 2024 Canadian MHEV specifications.

Engine and transmission

Signature uses the high-output 3.3-litre turbocharged inline-six with M Hybrid Boost, an eight-speed automatic and all-wheel drive. Mazda quotes up to 340 hp and 369 lb-ft with recommended premium fuel. The lower-output inline-six has different ratings, and the 2.5-litre PHEV is a separate system. Canadian 2024 powertrain announcement.

A mild hybrid should not be selected on the assumption that it provides the same plug-in charging routine as the PHEV. Decide which ownership pattern suits you before comparing trim prices. The premium-fuel recommendation also belongs in the running-cost calculation.

Fuel economy

Mazda’s Canadian launch figures for GT-P and Signature are 10.3 L/100 km city, 8.5 highway and 9.5 combined. These are standardized estimates; actual consumption varies with conditions. Signature fuel-consumption reference.

At 20,000 km per year, 9.5 L/100 km corresponds to approximately 1,900 litres. Multiply that by the fuel price you expect to pay, and leave room for winter trips, idling, heavy loads and towing. Comparing only a monthly payment can hide a meaningful difference in ownership costs.

Towing and practicality

The Canadian high-output models have a published maximum towing capacity of 5,000 lb when properly equipped. Check the required towing accessories and the individual vehicle’s loading instructions. 2024 capability and equipment conditions.

Passengers, luggage and trailer tongue weight must be considered together. A six-seat cabin does not mean you can fill every seat and cargo area while towing every advertised maximum. Ask the retailer to demonstrate the towing setup and explain the labels before buying equipment.

Signature interior

Signature adds second-row captain’s chairs with a centre console and ventilated second-row seats. Its premium interior choices include Windsor Tan or Pure White Nappa leather, with distinctive trim and stitching. The Canadian guide also identifies a power-adjustable steering column and Driver Personalization System. Canadian Signature equipment guide.

Try the second-row controls and the path into the third row. A centre console may be appealing for the occupants who use those seats most often, but its practicality should be checked against your own passenger routine. Choose the cabin configuration before getting attached to a particular colour.

Infotainment and assistance

The 12.3-inch centre display is a Signature upgrade for 2024; Mazda describes touch operation specifically for Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. A fully digital 12.3-inch instrument display is also included. 2024 Signature display description.

Signature’s equipment includes the enhanced 360-degree See-Through View, additional crossing/turning collision-support functions and secondary-collision braking. Signature driver-assistance features. These are not autonomous-driving claims. Ask for a demonstration, read the limitations and remain responsible for checking the surroundings.

These are Mazda Canada’s February 7, 2023 launch MSRPs for the 2024 model, checked October 29, 2026. They exclude the announcement’s $1,995 freight/PDE, taxes, additional fees and optional finishes. They are not current used-car valuations or the reviewed vehicle’s transaction price.

2024 trimLaunch MSRP (CAD)Difference from SignatureWhat changes
GT MHEV$55,350−$7,950Lower-output inline-six and seven-seat layout.
GT-P MHEV$59,300−$4,000Same high-output engine; seven seats and ventilated front seating.
Signature MHEV$63,300ReferenceSix-seat layout, ventilated second row, upgraded displays and additional premium equipment.
PHEV GT$64,350+$1,050Different plug-in powertrain; not a higher-output Signature.

Prices: Mazda Canada dated launch table. Equipment distinctions: Canadian trim guide. The PHEV row is a powertrain alternative, not a directly equivalent cabin upgrade. Compare a current itemized offer and the actual equipment list before deciding.

If you want the high-output engine but need seven seats, GT-P is the comparison to make first. If six seats work and the second-row comfort and premium equipment matter, examine the Signature’s additional cost. Neither choice is automatically better for every family.

Frequently asked questions

Is the Canadian 2024 Signature a plug-in?

Does Signature seat eight?

No. This Canadian 2024 specification has six seats; the larger seating counts belong to other configurations.

Does GT-P have the same engine?

Yes. Both use the high-output inline-six, so the Signature upgrade is mainly about layout and equipment rather than an additional horsepower increase.
