2024 Kia Seltos SX: Specs, Features & Canadian Pricing

The refreshed 2024 Kia Seltos SX changes more than the equipment list compared with EX Premium. Its turbocharged engine and conventional automatic transmission are central to the upgrade decision, alongside additional cabin technology. X-Line then offers another step with a different appearance treatment.

Engine and transmission

SX uses a 1.6-litre turbo four-cylinder rated at 195 hp and 195 lb-ft, with an eight-speed automatic and all-wheel drive. The EX grades use a 147-hp 2.0-litre engine and IVT instead. Kia Canada’s 2024 specifications.

That difference is why SX should not be assessed as only a charge for a few interior features. Conversely, a higher trim is not automatically necessary if the lower configuration already meets your needs. Compare the actual powertrain and equipment together.

Interior and technology

SX adds a head-up display, Bose audio, Digital Key 2 Touch, rain-sensing wipers and 18-inch wheels over EX Premium. The inherited equipment includes heated rear seats, ventilated fronts, a power liftgate and 10.25-inch displays. Canadian feature hierarchy.

Try the display and seat functions yourself rather than deciding from a list. Check your phone’s compatibility and any service requirements before relying on a digital key. For a used example, test the original keys and make sure all advertised functions operate.

Space and everyday use

Kia publishes 752 litres behind the rear seats with the cargo floor lowered and 1,778 litres with the rear seats folded. Those are different seating configurations, not interchangeable measurements. Canadian cargo specifications.

Fuel economy

NRCan separates the turbo AWD Seltos from the non-turbo AWD model. Actual consumption varies with conditions. NRCan 2024 dataset.

2024 Seltos AWD engineCity L/100 kmHighwayCombined
1.6L turbo — SX / X-Line9.48.79.1
2.0L — EX reference8.87.58.2

At 20,000 km annually, the combined values represent 1,820 litres for the turbo and 1,640 for the non-turbo AWD reference. That difference is a calculation, not a prediction for your routes. Cold starts, idling, loading and driving conditions affect actual consumption.

Canadian trim comparison

Current Canadian manufacturer pricing for these exact 2024 configurations has not been verified as of October 31, 2026. Vehicle prices, fee amounts and price differences are omitted; the table compares equipment only.

2024 AWD trimWhat changes
EX Premium2.0L / IVT; substantial comfort equipment already included
SXTurbo / 8-speed automatic plus HUD and Bose
X-LineSame turbo powertrain; black wheels and exterior detailing

Equipment differences are supported by Kia’s Canadian brochure. Decide whether you want the SX powertrain and technology first; then judge the X-Line appearance step separately. Do not treat the X-Line premium as buying another increase in engine output.

Buying and ownership checks

For a used Seltos, review service records and get a VIN-specific recall check. Inspect tires, test the cameras and verify that no warning messages remain. Original trim price is only one part of value; condition and maintenance can matter more than a small difference in asking price.

Transport Canada recall 2023421 includes certain 2024 Seltos vehicles with a transmission oil-pump circuit-board defect that can cause a fire. For affected vehicles awaiting repair, Kia recommends parking outside, away from buildings and other vehicles. Recall 2023652 concerns side-curtain airbags that may deploy without a collision; Kia inspects and replaces affected modules as needed. These notices do not establish that every SX is affected.

If towing is part of your plan, check the Canadian owner’s manual for the individual vehicle rather than assuming a hitch accessory proves an approved rating. Roof and cargo loads also need to remain within the vehicle’s limits.

Who should consider SX?

SX is worth comparing when its engine and technology upgrades are priorities. If your main interest is cabin comfort, inspect EX Premium too. If appearance is the deciding factor, compare SX and X-Line in person without assuming a higher price makes either one the better fit.
