2023 Ram 2500 Limited Longhorn Mega Cab: Features & Canadian Buying Guide

The 2023 Ram 2500 Limited Longhorn Mega Cab puts its emphasis on cabin space and a distinctive leather-and-wood interior. The key choice is not simply whether to buy a luxury truck: it is whether the Mega Cab layout and Longhorn equipment are worth choosing over a Laramie or Limited built for the same job.

What makes the Longhorn different?

Longhorn combines premium filigree leather, real-wood trim and a matching wood-and-leather steering wheel. Heated rear seats and ventilated front seats broaden its comfort equipment beyond the Laramie’s heated front seats. The 12-inch instrument display is separate from its standard 8.4-inch Uconnect 5 NAV screen; a large gauge display does not mean every truck has a 12-inch centre touchscreen.

Cummins power and towing considerations

The 2023 Canadian Ram Heavy Duty brochure lists a 6.7-litre Cummins diesel and six-speed automatic for Longhorn. The standard-output diesel produces 370 hp and 850 lb-ft. The high-output Cummins/AISIN pairing is a Ram 3500 configuration, not a 2500 upgrade.

For a trailer, the important numbers are the individual truck’s payload label, axle and hitch ratings—not the largest towing figure advertised across the Heavy Duty range. Passengers, cargo, accessories and trailer tongue or pin weight all consume available payload. Match the truck and trailer before choosing luxury options.

Mega Cab practicality

Mega Cab uses the 6-foot-4-inch box. That makes the cab-and-bed combination an important part of the purchase, rather than a small detail to overlook when comparing listings. A Longhorn Crew Cab is not an equivalent substitute simply because the trim name matches.

Use the rear-seat layout and storage space as the deciding test: bring the people or child seats you regularly carry, and check access with the front seats set for their normal occupants. Also measure your parking space and garage opening. A premium interior cannot compensate for a truck that is awkward to park or the wrong bed for your cargo.

Equipment worth checking

Longhorn includes LED projector headlamps and rain-sensitive wipers. The 17-speaker Harman Kardon system belongs to an optional Level I equipment group, while rear air suspension is also optional. Check those features on the actual truck rather than treating every Longhorn listing as identically equipped.

Current Canadian manufacturer pricing for this exact 2023 Ram 2500 Longhorn 4×4 Mega Cab configuration has not been verified as of October 31, 2026. The separate historical factory-label example has not been matched to our video, so no vehicle, engine-option, transmission-option or fee amounts are quoted here.

Canadian trim comparison

These are equipment differences from the Canadian brochure, not prices for a particular used truck. Current asking prices also depend on mileage, condition and options; compare the same cab, engine and box before judging whether a higher trim is worth the premium.

Limited Longhorn Mega CabPremium leather/wood; 12-inch instrument display.Heated rear seats and ventilated front seats.Interior and comfort upgrades, not an assumed towing increase.
Limited Mega CabDifferent premium leather/wood treatment.20-inch SRW wheels; blind-spot/rear cross-path monitoring.Compare styling and assistance equipment against Longhorn.

An optioned Laramie can overlap with a higher grade, so compare equipment lists rather than badge order alone. Original window stickers are particularly useful for separating standard equipment from added packages. A meaningful price premium is the difference between two comparable trucks, not between unmatched advertised starting prices.

Who should consider it?

The Longhorn Mega Cab is most compelling when the cabin layout and distinctive interior are both priorities. If the truck will spend most of its time towing or carrying equipment, establish the required load ratings first, then decide how much the interior upgrades are worth to you. The Limited offers another premium treatment rather than automatically being the better choice.

Buying a used example

Review the service history, modifications, tires and underbody condition, and arrange an independent inspection. Exercise the cameras, screens, seat functions and any fitted suspension options. Obtain insurance pricing for the actual truck and compare the full purchase cost, not only the monthly payment.
