Switch the vehicle fully off before replacing the Canadian 2026 Explorer’s front wiper blades. The connector uses two locking buttons; match it to the manual’s illustration before removing anything.
This guide follows Ford’s Canada/US manual, printed page 107 and its connector illustration. It covers this vehicle’s front blades with the illustrated connector, not the rear wiper or a different aftermarket adapter.
Before you lift an arm
Get replacement blades confirmed for your exact vehicle and each front position. Have the supplier verify the connector as well as fitment; a similar-looking package is not enough. Keep the replacement ready beside you.
Park safely, close the hood and check that the arm has clearance. Switch the vehicle fully off. Do not move the arms manually with power on or in accessory mode. If an arm catches the hood or will not lift normally, stop rather than forcing it.
Remove and replace one blade at a time
- Lift by the wiper arm, not by pulling the rubber blade. Support the arm throughout: without a blade attached, it must not snap onto the windshield.
- Press the two blade-locking buttons together. Slightly rotate the blade and remove it, following the manual’s illustration. Do not pry or twist a connector that does not match.
- Fit the replacement by reversing the removal sequence. Confirm that it locks into place before releasing your support.
- Carefully return the assembled arm to the glass, then repeat for the other front blade. If the blade will not lock, stop and recheck fitment; do not treat friction as a secure attachment.
Check the wipe—not just the appearance
With both assemblies secure and lowered, wet the windshield before testing. Never run the wipers on dry or frozen glass. If streaking remains, clean dirty blades with water or washer fluid and a soft cloth; worn or damaged blades need replacement.
An unclear attachment, damaged arm or blade that shifts after installation needs help from a qualified service provider. Do not drive into conditions requiring the wipers until they are securely attached and clearing the windshield properly.
