2027 Ford Expedition Tremor vs 2027 Nissan Armada PRO-4X: Seating, Loading and Tow-Ready Equipment

The 2027 Ford Expedition Tremor 501A and 2027 Nissan Armada PRO-4X are both current Canadian three-row SUVs with electronic rear lockers and twin-turbo V6 engines. The practical differences start with passenger layout, loading arrangements and the equipment included in the price—not simply which one looks tougher.

This comparison uses the regular-length Expedition Tremor and Canadian Armada PRO-4X, not Expedition MAX, Armada NISMO or Platinum Reserve. It also identifies a conflict in Nissan’s published suspension information rather than treating an uncertain feature as a confirmed advantage.

Seven seats standard or eight?

Tremor starts with seven seats and heated second-row captain’s chairs; an eight-seat bench configuration is optional. Armada PRO-4X is specified with eight seats and a 40/20/40 second-row bench. That is a meaningful starting difference for a household that regularly needs the eighth position. Ford Canada’s Tremor specification and Nissan Canada’s 2027 Armada specification table.

For seven-passenger use, captain’s chairs may be your preference, but do not assume a seating layout offered elsewhere in the Armada range is offered on PRO-4X. Compare the exact Canadian order sheet. Install the child seats you use and check third-row access before concluding that either layout makes the daily routine easier.

Both trims have heated and ventilated or cooled front seating and heated second-row seating. Those broad comfort features are not enough to select a winner. Seat shape, adjustment, visibility and how the controls work for the driver and passengers deserve an in-person test.

Two rear lockers, with suspension details worth checking

Ford specifies an electronic-locking rear differential, raised suspension with passive shocks, 18-inch wheels and 33-inch all-terrain tires. Nissan specifies an electronic rear locker, metal underbody skid plate and 275/60R20 all-terrain tires for PRO-4X. These are genuine factory trail configurations, but the shared rear-locker concept does not make every other chassis feature identical.

Nissan’s Canadian 2027 press-kit prose describes adaptive air suspension on PRO-4X, while the corresponding HTML specification table does not mark it standard in that trim’s column. This comparison does not resolve that contradiction by assumption or count air suspension as a confirmed value advantage. Require written confirmation of the actual Canadian vehicle’s suspension before buying for adjustable ride height.

Ford’s passive-shock specification is clear; do not describe it as electronic damping simply because the trim has advanced trail assistance. For both vehicles, drive the actual wheel-and-tire configuration over the roads and access tracks you use. A tire’s wheel diameter and a list of drive modes cannot establish a universal ride or traction winner.

Similar engine concept, different output figures

Ford rates Tremor’s high-output 3.5-litre EcoBoost V6 at 440 horsepower and 510 lb-ft. Nissan rates the Armada’s 3.5-litre twin-turbo V6 at 425 horsepower and 516 lb-ft. Ford uses a ten-speed automatic and Nissan a nine-speed. Rated output depends on the manufacturer’s specified conditions; this is not a same-day performance test. Canadian Expedition powertrain specifications.

The figures split the paper advantage: Ford has more rated horsepower, Nissan slightly more rated torque. Neither small numerical difference is a sensible basis for predicting your towing experience or annual fuel bill. Confirm the fuel recommendation, test the response and shifting at normal speeds, and avoid mixing the Armada NISMO’s output into a PRO-4X comparison.

The loading routine can matter more than another screen

Tremor has a 40/20/40 third-row split with power folding and recline, plus a powered upper liftgate and lower tailgate. Armada lists a power-folding 60/40 third row. Ford’s extra split can be useful when a long narrow item must share the back with a passenger; whether the split tailgate helps depends on how you load and reach into the vehicle.

Try the normal luggage with the passenger rows you need left upright. If your typical trip uses every seat, folded-seat maximum cargo volume is not the relevant measurement. Also check the garage opening and room to operate the rear closure. These are expensive vehicles to buy before discovering that a routine stroller or equipment load does not work well.

Towing: check the configuration and the payload together

Ford lists Tremor’s Heavy-Duty Trailer Tow Package and integrated trailer-brake controller as standard, with a properly equipped maximum of 9,300 lb. Nissan’s Canadian table lists the controller on PRO-4X and a maximum trailer rating of 8,500 lb, subject to configuration and loading. Neither number is permission to ignore the particular vehicle’s labels.

The Ford has the higher published trailer ceiling, but it is not automatically the right tow vehicle for every family. Add occupants, luggage, accessories and trailer tongue weight, then check carrying capacity and hitch requirements. A trailer within the advertised ceiling may still create a load problem once the cabin is full. Use loaded weights, not only the trailer’s empty specification.

Canadian prices are reference points, not a matched payment offer

Ford’s Canadian model selector displayed $111,795 starting at for Tremor on October 30, 2026. At the time of this October 31 update, the exact 2027 Armada PRO-4X’s current Canadian manufacturer-site price and complete fee basis remain unverified. The dated Ford starting figure is not a completed, equipment-matched quote or proof of a price gap. Ford Canada’s price selector.

Do not subtract differently presented advertised prices and call the result a guaranteed deal. Obtain itemized quotes for the actual passenger configuration, options and vehicle availability. Resolve the Nissan suspension question on the written equipment list. Then compare equal financing terms and down payments, with optional protection products identified separately.

Ownership checks

No exact fuel-cost advantage is assigned here. For sensitivity, a verified 1 L/100 km difference over 20,000 km represents 200 litres annually, or $340 at an illustrative $1.70 per litre. Use the exact fuel labels and the fuel grades you intend to buy before comparing annual costs. Insurance and suitable winter-tire quotes can also change the total without changing the purchase price.

Use the vehicle ownership budget worksheet to separate cash price, financing, running costs and uncertain resale assumptions. The Armada’s standard eight-seat layout is a clear reason to consider it. The Tremor’s optional eight-seat flexibility, rear-loading arrangement and higher published tow ceiling may be worth more to another household. Settle those practical requirements and the unresolved Nissan suspension specification before choosing by badge or horsepower.
