The 2026 Ram 1500 Limited and 2026 Ford F-150 Platinum make different arguments for a premium pickup. Ram includes four-corner air suspension and a high-output Hurricane engine. Ford offers a route to a full-hybrid powertrain with substantial exportable electrical power—but that is an optional configuration, not a feature of every Platinum.
This Canadian specification-based guide was checked October 30, 2026. It compares ordinary Limited and Platinum, not a Night Edition or an assumed fully optioned package.
What comes first: suspension or electrical utility?
Ram’s Limited card lists Active-Level four-corner air suspension, full-leather-faced bucket seating and the high-output Hurricane engine. Ford’s Canadian page identifies the 3.5-litre EcoBoost as standard and PowerBoost full hybrid as optional. Sources: Ram Canada Limited specifications; Ford Canada Platinum specifications.
This is a useful starting distinction. If the Ram’s air suspension is the reason you are interested, ask for a demonstration of its functions and limitations. If Ford’s hybrid utility is the attraction, request a quote that explicitly includes the hybrid and desired electrical output rather than treating the ordinary EcoBoost truck as equivalent.
The 7.2-kW option needs a real use case
Ford states that Platinum equipped with the available PowerBoost full hybrid can offer an available 7.2 kW of Pro Power Onboard export power. It is not a universal Platinum rating. Source: Ford Canada Pro Power Onboard description.
List the equipment you want to run, its electrical requirements and how often you would use it away from an outlet. Have the dealer explain the available sockets, operating conditions and limits using the exact truck’s manual. An impressive total output figure is not enough to establish that every appliance or tool combination will work.
Use the generator only with the truck outdoors. The hybrid’s gasoline engine can start and stop while supplying power, creating a carbon-monoxide hazard in enclosed spaces. Ford’s manual also warns against connecting the truck’s outlets to building wiring or the main electricity supply because of backfeed, fire and electric-shock risks. Follow the outlet ratings and the instructions for the actual truck; do not treat Pro Power Onboard as an approved home-backup installation. The Ram engine and Ford hybrid answer different questions
Ram rates Limited’s standard high-output Hurricane at 540 hp and also lists a HEMI option. Source: Ram Canada capability.
High output and export power are not competing measurements of the same thing. Decide whether your priority is the chosen driving experience, electrical utility or another requirement, then compare the appropriate builds. A hybrid option does not guarantee a lower total cost for every driving pattern.
Use exact-build EnerGuide figures, local fuel prices and annual distance for the fuel budget. Include the extra purchase cost and any equipment needed for your intended use. Drive both configurations on representative roads before making a subjective performance or refinement judgement.
Luxury equipment still needs verification
Ford’s page describes multicontour seating and the upgraded B&O system as available in its introduction while some detailed listings use different inclusion labels. This guide therefore makes no universal massage-seat or upgraded-audio claim. Confirm the exact equipment group and functions on the truck you are buying. Test the seats, storage and rear access with your regular passengers. Apply the same discipline to the Ram rather than importing Tungsten equipment into Limited. The price of a luxury trim is not proof that it contains every feature shown in an advertisement.
Available BlueCruise also needs its hardware, service terms and operating limits checked. Hands-free assistance is not autonomous driving. Do not treat the word available as included in the price. Source: Ford Canada assistance information.
Payload and price remain configuration-specific
Air suspension does not create additional permitted payload, and a hybrid badge does not establish towing capacity. Obtain the actual loading label and configuration-specific trailer limit for both finalists. Include passengers, accessories, cargo and tongue load, and confirm hitch and brake-control equipment.
Request itemized quotes with the same passenger, bed and drivetrain requirements, showing engine and equipment upgrades, freight, fees, taxes and incentive eligibility. Compare total borrowing cost if financing.
The verdict
Start with Limited if its included air suspension and standard high-output engine are what you want. Price a PowerBoost Platinum specifically if onboard electrical utility is a meaningful part of the purchase. Do not pay for either feature on the assumption that it automatically improves payload, ride quality or total ownership cost.
