2023 Ford F-450 XLT Dually: Canadian Specs, Features & Pricing

The redesigned 2023 Ford F-450 XLT Dually puts the emphasis on a serious truck configuration without automatically stepping into the most expensive luxury trims. The important question is not simply whether XLT has enough equipment, but whether the particular F-450 is the right match for the trailer, load and daily use you have in mind.

Watch our 2023 XLT Dually video below. This Canadian comparison covers factory F-450 pickups rather than chassis-cab trucks with aftermarket bodies.

Pickup versus chassis cab

Do not interchange specifications for an F-450 pickup and an F-450 chassis cab. They share a name but are separate configurations. A Canadian Ford dealer’s 2023 XLT pickup listing identifies a Crew Cab, eight-foot box, 4WD and 6.7L diesel. Ford New Richmond’s exact-year pickup listing.

Diesel engines and transmission

Canadian 2023 Super Duty information distinguishes the 6.7L Power Stroke diesel at 475 horsepower and 1,050 lb-ft from the high-output version at 500 horsepower and 1,200 lb-ft. Ford’s launch information confirms a ten-speed TorqShift automatic across the Super Duty range. Canadian 2023 engine table; Ford Canada’s introduction.

The high-output diesel is a separate configuration. Match the engine code before using the higher output figure; gasoline engines offered in other Super Duty models do not belong in this F-450 pickup comparison.

XLT cabin and the step to Lariat

A Canadian Sun City Ford listing for a 2023 XLT pickup identifies cloth seating and an eight-inch touchscreen. Novlan Brothers’ 2023 F-450 Lariat reference identifies leather-trimmed seating and dual-zone automatic climate control. These are useful differences to investigate on an actual vehicle, not a guarantee of every optional feature. Sun City Ford’s XLT listing; Canadian Lariat reference.

Towing and payload: verify the actual truck

A headline maximum does not apply to every cab, engine or hitch arrangement. Conventional towing, fifth-wheel towing and gooseneck towing are different cases. Have the correct model-year towing information matched to the VIN, then check the payload and axle limits on the vehicle itself.

People, cargo, accessories and hitch load all need to be included in the assessment. An expensive trim is not a shortcut to a higher useful payload. Before purchasing for a particular trailer, establish the loaded trailer weight and required hitch equipment, not just the empty weight in an advertisement.

Fuel consumption and ownership costs

No comparable NRCan city/highway fuel figure is presented here. The light-duty dataset has no 2023 F-450 entry; fuel use depends heavily on load and duty cycle. NRCan dataset used for this check.

Canadian trim comparison and pricing

Historical Canadian 2023 base prices checked October 29, 2026. All rows below are F-450 4WD Crew Cab pickups with eight-foot boxes. Auto123’s contemporary Canadian pricing report and CarCostCanada agree on these figures. Freight of $2,295 is separate; options, taxes, licensing and other dealer charges are not included. These are not current offers or as-reviewed prices.

Buying verdict

XLT deserves consideration when the pickup configuration and work capability are the priority, while Lariat’s cabin extras are optional wants. Decide on the required truck first, then compare the comfort upgrade. The best value is the correctly configured and well-maintained truck, not necessarily the lowest trim or the highest advertised towing number.
