The 2023 Ram 1500 Big Horn Built to Serve EMS Edition has a clear identity: a first-responder-themed package rather than a separate truck class. The practical buying decision is whether its specific appearance and cabin treatment are worth choosing over a regular Big Horn with the equipment you need.
Watch our 2023 Ram 1500 Big Horn Built to Serve EMS Edition video below, followed by Canadian equipment, powertrain and trim comparisons.

What makes it the EMS Edition?
Dunn Ram’s Canadian 2023 model page identifies Hydro Blue or Bright White paint, black bumpers and badging, 20-inch wheels with a technical-grey finish, and cloth/vinyl seating with orange stitching for this EMS-themed edition. Canadian 2023 Built to Serve description.
Check these details against the original build information. A decal or a set of replacement wheels does not prove the full factory package is present. Conversely, a later cosmetic change does not explain what equipment the truck originally had.
Powertrain and configuration
The edition name is not enough to confirm the filmed engine or transmission specification. Obtain the VIN build information before assigning horsepower, fuel consumption or towing limits. Keep this Big Horn-based package separate from TRX and from the older Ram 1500 Classic when comparing listings.
Cabin and everyday use
The regular Big Horn uses a cloth 40/20/40 front bench with centre-seat cushion storage, carpet flooring and a leather-wrapped steering wheel. EMS changes the upholstery and stitching to its themed cloth/vinyl treatment. Big Horn’s heated-equipment, larger-screen and safety packages must still be compared separately. Capability checks
The EMS treatment does not determine towing or payload. Use the cab, box, engine, axle and loading label for the actual truck, including passengers, cargo and trailer tongue weight in its load.

Running costs
Match any Canadian fuel rating to the verified engine and drivetrain rather than assigning a generic Ram 1500 number. Budget for insurance, tires and maintenance alongside fuel. A special-edition badge alone does not establish a resale premium or lower ownership costs.
Is the package worth buying?
Choose it if the EMS identity and verified equipment appeal to you at a sensible difference from a comparable Big Horn. Compare condition, history and options before paying extra for rarity. If the details do not matter to you, a regular truck with the right configuration may be the better fit.
