The 2024 GMC Sierra 1500 Denali is a premium-cabin alternative to the more straightforward Sierra trims. Its suspension and comfort equipment are worth comparing carefully with SLT, while Denali Ultimate is a separate step rather than another name for the same truck.

Denali equipment and cabin
A Canadian 2024 Denali listing documents Adaptive Ride Control, heated and ventilated front seats, heated rear seats, seat memory, a 13.4-inch centre display and a 12.3-inch driver display. Canadian Denali equipment example. These are useful points to inspect rather than relying on the grille and badge alone.
Packages are not the same as the trim
A separate Canadian 2024 Denali listing identifies a Denali Reserve package containing a technology package, sunroof, power steps and 22-inch wheels. Canadian option-package example. This is evidence of a configured vehicle, not a claim that every Denali includes those items.
Do not assume a Denali is a Denali Ultimate or that an impressive photograph proves a particular assistance system is installed. Ask for the build sheet and demonstrate any feature central to your purchase decision. Check connected-service status separately from hardware.
Engine: verify the actual configuration
The same Canadian Denali example documents a 5.3-litre V8 and ten-speed automatic. Canadian 5.3-litre configuration. GM’s Canadian 2024 fleet guide rates that engine at 355 hp and 383 lb-ft. Manufacturer engine specification. Other Denali engine configurations are available.
A trim badge is not an engine code. When comparing listings, establish the fuel type and selected powertrain before interpreting the asking-price difference. Keep light-duty Sierra engine information separate from the 6.6-litre powertrains used in Sierra HD trucks.
Towing and payload
Use the truck’s exact build and loading label for a trailer decision. Engine, axle ratio, cab, bed, drivetrain and equipment can change the relevant limits. GM’s fleet guide presents configuration-qualified capability tables rather than one rating that applies to every Denali. Canadian configuration tables.
Include passengers, cargo, accessories and trailer tongue weight in the calculation. The presence of a hitch or a premium trim name is not sufficient evidence that a specific trailer is appropriate. Ask for matching written trailering information before buying around an advertised maximum.
Canadian fuel economy
NRCan’s 2024 guide separates Sierra engines, fuel types, drivetrains and tire configurations. Official Canadian fuel guide. The correct rating depends on the installed engine, drivetrain and tires.
For a purchase comparison, use the matching Canadian rating and the appropriate fuel price. Avoid substituting an AT4X or mud-terrain-tire row for an ordinary configuration, or borrowing a Chevrolet result simply because the trucks share some components.

Canadian historical catalogue. Denali is $15,300 above SLT; Denali Ultimate is another $16,200. Do not describe these mixed base-configuration differences as the price of individual features. Compare itemized quotes with the same powertrain and options.
Who should consider Denali?
Consider Denali when its comfort and convenience equipment is something you will use. Start with an SLT comparison to establish the cost of the features you value, then examine Denali Ultimate only if its additional equipment is relevant. A test drive and a detailed feature demonstration are better than assuming the most expensive truck is the best match.
