Honda introduced EX-L Hybrid for the 2024 Canadian range alongside Touring Hybrid. EX-L is also available with a gasoline engine, so the hybrid designation matters when matching a listing or comparing prices. Honda Canada’s EX-L Hybrid announcement.
Hybrid powertrain
EX-L Hybrid uses a 2.0-litre hybrid system rated at 204 hp combined, an E-CVT and Real Time AWD. Touring Hybrid shares the published combined output; the gas EX-L uses a different 1.5-litre turbo engine. Honda Canada 2024 matrix.
Combined hybrid output is not the sum of the separate engine and motor peak ratings. This is a regular hybrid rather than a plug-in vehicle, so a home charging installation is not part of the ownership requirement.
Fuel economy
NRCan rates the 2024 CR-V Hybrid AWD at 6.0 L/100 km city, 6.9 highway and 6.4 combined. The gas CR-V AWD is rated at 8.4 combined. NRCan 2024 guide.
At 20,000 km annually, the combined figures represent approximately 1,280 litres for the hybrid and 1,680 litres for the gas AWD—a 400-litre difference. Apply your local fuel price to estimate the value for your own usage. That calculation does not guarantee a payback period, because purchase price, distance and driving conditions vary.
Interior and practicality
Honda’s launch description lists leather-trimmed seats, heated front and rear seats, a heated steering wheel, power passenger-seat adjustment, parking sensors and a power tailgate for EX-L Hybrid. Canadian EX-L Hybrid equipment.
The published hybrid cargo figures are 1,028 litres behind the rear seats and 2,030 litres with them folded. The gas version’s larger quoted cargo figures should not be substituted. Canadian cargo-volume matrix.
Infotainment and connectivity
EX-L Hybrid has a 9-inch screen, eight speakers and wired/wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Touring keeps the 9-inch size but adds 12-speaker Bose audio and navigation. Canadian infotainment comparison.
Test the phone connection and compare the audio with material you know. A premium audio badge is not a substitute for deciding whether you hear enough benefit to justify the price. Check any connected-service terms separately, particularly on a previously registered vehicle.
Safety and convenience differences
Honda lists blind-spot information and rear cross-traffic monitoring on EX-L Hybrid. Touring adds hands-free access for its tailgate. This is distinct from the regular power-tailgate operation on EX-L Hybrid. Canadian assistance and tailgate matrix.
Driver assistance requires attention and does not make the vehicle autonomous. Ask for a demonstration of the systems fitted to the car, and inspect for warning messages or unavailable functions rather than assuming every feature works from a sales description.

Choosing a trim
EX-L Hybrid is the starting point if you want the hybrid system without paying for all Touring features. Compare gas EX-L using your expected distance and fuel budget, then decide on Touring separately by trying its audio, navigation and convenience features. Do not confuse the premium for a different powertrain with the premium for added equipment.
