Fuel economy
NRCan rates the 2024 HR-V AWD at 9.4 L/100 km city, 7.8 highway and 8.7 combined. The front-wheel-drive HR-V’s 8.3 combined figure should not be presented as the EX-L Navi rating. NRCan 2024 guide.
At 20,000 km, 8.7 combined represents approximately 1,740 litres annually. That is a planning calculation rather than a test result. A smaller vehicle does not automatically mean a particular fuel budget: compare the published rating with your actual annual distance and fuel price.
Interior and practicality

Check the seating position and adjustment range before assuming that the top trim will be more comfortable for you. Try rear access with your normal passengers or child restraints, and load your stroller, bags or other bulky items through the actual cargo opening. Everyday fit is more useful than judging the car from its trim name.
On a used example, inspect upholstery wear and test the climate system and seat heaters. Also compare tire condition and service records. A clean lower-trim vehicle can be a more sensible purchase than a neglected top trim, even if the latter originally cost more.
Infotainment and navigation

Safety and driver assistance
Honda’s Canadian matrix lists blind-spot information, rear cross-traffic monitoring and front/rear parking sensors for EX-L Navi, not Sport-B. Have the seller demonstrate the warnings and settings, and check for any fault messages. Do not treat AWD as a substitute for appropriate tires or assume parking sensors remove the need to look around the vehicle.
