The Canadian specification lists a supercharged 6.2L HEMI V8 with 702 horsepower and 650 lb-ft, an eight-speed automatic and required 91-octane premium gasoline. This is not the naturally aspirated 5.7L engine in Sport and Rebel. 2024 Canadian powertrain specification.
What makes TRX different
Ram specifies Bilstein Black Hawk e2 active dampers front and rear. The Canadian configuration sheet lists TRX as a Crew Cab 4×4 with a 5-foot-7-inch box, rather than a long-box work-truck configuration. Chassis specification; Canadian configurations.
That distinction matters when comparing prices. A less expensive Ram with black wheels does not become equivalent to a TRX, while a buyer who mainly needs a pickup bed may not benefit from paying for the specialized chassis. Start by identifying the jobs the truck must perform, then decide whether the performance hardware is genuinely part of that requirement.
Cabin, equipment and practicality
The Canadian TRX specification includes premium leather front buckets, a console-mounted shifter, a flat-bottom steering wheel and a 12-inch TRX instrument display. A Ford F-150 Raptor belongs on the comparison list, but match the engine version and equipment before drawing a conclusion from the name. Within Ram’s range, TRX makes sense when its distinctive powertrain and chassis are the attraction. If ordinary pickup duties dominate, compare the less expensive alternatives and put running costs alongside the purchase price.
