Engine and transmission
High Country’s base gas specification is a 6.2-litre V8 producing 420 hp and 460 lb-ft. Premier’s reference configuration uses a 5.3-litre V8 with 355 hp and 383 lb-ft. Canadian gas-engine comparison.
High Country uses a ten-speed automatic and also offers the 3.0-litre diesel, listed at 277 hp and 460 lb-ft for 2024. The later updated diesel ratings do not apply to this 2024 engine. 2024 powertrain choices.
Equipment and cabin
A head-up display is standard in the High Country comparison and optional on Premier. The High Country catalog lists air suspension and power-retractable steps as options, not universal equipment. Trim equipment comparison; High Country options.
The catalog describes a 10.2-inch infotainment system with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto capability. The 2024 should not be presented as having the later refreshed dashboard. 2024 infotainment specification.
Fuel economy

At 20,000 km annually, the 6.2-litre combined rating represents 3,000 litres. Compare actual premium-gasoline and diesel prices when considering the alternatives; a difference in litres does not translate directly into the same difference in cost. Towing and used-vehicle checks
Max Trailering equipment is listed as optional. Confirm the installed package and individual tow rating, and use the actual payload label when combining passengers, cargo and trailer tongue weight. Trailering package availability.
For a 6.2-litre V8 example, ask GM to check the VIN for Transport Canada recall 2025225. Certain 2024 Tahoes with that engine can suffer engine failure and loss of drive power because of defective connecting-rod or crankshaft components. This recall does not apply to the diesel or 5.3-litre V8. Confirm completion of the required dealer inspection and remedy; the model name alone does not establish recall status.
