The 2025 Honda CR-V Touring Hybrid is the top Canadian CR-V trim, but the hybrid powertrain is not exclusive to it. That makes EX-L Hybrid the most important comparison: buyers can keep the same basic hybrid setup while spending less, or choose Touring for the additional audio, convenience and finish details.

Models available
The 2025 Canadian lineup includes LX 2WD, LX AWD, Sport, EX-L Hybrid and Touring Hybrid. The last two use the hybrid powertrain and AWD. The Sport below them uses a gasoline turbo engine; it is not the U.S.-market Sport Hybrid. Honda Canada’s 2025 trim table.
Hybrid system and transmission
Touring combines a 2.0L engine with a two-motor hybrid system, rated at 204 total horsepower, and Honda’s e-CVT. EX-L Hybrid shares that setup. The output is the system rating; adding the engine and motor ratings together is not a valid way to calculate it. Canadian powertrain specifications.
A trim upgrade should therefore be evaluated separately from the decision to buy a hybrid. If the hybrid system is your main reason to shop, start with EX-L Hybrid and add up the value of Touring’s extras. If your priority is the lowest purchase price, compare a gasoline CR-V as well, using your own annual distance to assess the trade-off.
Interior and technology
Touring adds a 12-speaker Bose system, navigation in the 9-inch screen, hands-free tailgate access and rain-sensing wipers. EX-L Hybrid already provides the same screen size, wireless phone integration and heated front/rear seating. Canadian equipment comparison.
Family practicality
Touring is a five-seat SUV. Check rear-seat access with your own child seats and evaluate luggage space with everyone aboard. If your family genuinely needs a third row, moving to a higher CR-V trim will not solve that requirement.
Honda lists a tyre repair kit rather than a compact spare on the hybrids. Consider how that fits the roads and trips you take, and understand the kit’s limitations before relying on it. A longer trip is a good reason to review roadside-assistance arrangements and the owner’s manual in advance. Hybrid equipment specification.
Fuel consumption
| 2025 CR-V AWD reference | City | Highway | Combined |
|---|---|---|---|
| Touring/EX-L Hybrid, L/100 km | 6.0 | 6.9 | 6.4 |
| Gasoline 1.5L AWD, L/100 km | 9.1 | 7.6 | 8.4 |
Source: NRCan’s 2025 dataset. Both use regular gasoline in the ratings. The hybrid’s combined reference is 2.0 L/100 km lower, equivalent to 400 litres over 20,000 km under those standardized assumptions. This is an illustration, not a promise of real-world savings.
Your fuel-cost difference depends on annual distance, local pump prices, weather and trip pattern. Touring does not improve the published hybrid rating over EX-L Hybrid, so fuel savings alone do not justify moving between those two trims.
Towing and safety
Honda lists available hybrid towing capacity at 453 kg, lower than the gasoline model’s listed 680 kg. Confirm the required equipment and manual limitations before attaching a trailer. More horsepower does not automatically mean a higher trailer allowance. Honda towing specifications.
Check driver-assistance settings and warning behaviour during a test drive. No assistance system should be treated as permission to stop watching the road, and the presence of cameras or sensors does not remove the need to check the surroundings.
Canadian hybrid trim comparison and pricing
Historical 2025 base MSRP references from Oakville Honda, checked October 29, 2026. Freight/PDI, dealer fees, levies, tax and licensing are excluded consistently. The catalogue does not state the original effective date; these are not current offers or the price of the video vehicle.
| Canadian trim | CAD MSRP reference | Difference | What changes |
|---|---|---|---|
| EX-L Hybrid AWD | $48,075 | Save $2,500 | Same hybrid system and fuel rating; fewer Touring extras |
| Touring Hybrid AWD | $50,575 | Add $2,500 | Bose audio, navigation, hands-free tailgate and other convenience upgrades |
Sources: EX-L Hybrid and Touring Hybrid. Both listings add the same $2,000 freight/PDI and other itemized charges. Their dealer-specific before-HST cash totals are $51,227 and $53,727 respectively, maintaining the $2,500 difference. Obtain a fresh complete quote before comparing a purchase or finance offer.
Competition and buying verdict
Compare a Toyota RAV4 Hybrid, Hyundai Tucson Hybrid or Kia Sportage Hybrid in a similar equipment range. For the CR-V itself, Touring makes sense when its convenience and audio upgrades are things you will use. EX-L Hybrid is the stronger starting point for someone who primarily wants the hybrid system and would rather keep the $2,500 reference difference.
Frequently asked questions
Do I need Touring to get the hybrid?
No. Canadian EX-L Hybrid provides the same published system output and fuel rating.
Is Canadian Sport a hybrid for 2025?
No. The Canadian 2025 Sport is the gasoline model; do not apply U.S. trim naming to it.
