The 2026 Ford Maverick Lariat AWD combines a compact pickup body with equipment such as heated ActiveX seats, a 360-degree camera and B&O audio. Its two powertrain choices make it especially important to compare the correct version: the hybrid uses a power-split electric CVT, while the turbocharged EcoBoost uses an eight-speed automatic.
This guide covers Canadian specifications and CAD pricing alongside our walkaround video. Equipment is separated into standard features and available options, with towing and fuel figures tied to the appropriate configuration.

Models Available and the Lariat’s Position
The 2026 Maverick lineup consists of XL, XLT, Lobo, Lariat and Tremor. XL and XLT provide the entry points, Lobo adds a sport-oriented specification, and Tremor adds off-road hardware. Lariat focuses on comfort, convenience and driver assistance. It is a five-seat, four-door pickup with a unibody structure and a compact FLEXBED cargo box.
The Canadian Lariat has standard AWD with either its hybrid or EcoBoost engine. Front-wheel-drive specifications elsewhere in the Maverick range should not be applied to Lariat. Similarly, Lobo’s transmission and Tremor’s towing and fuel figures belong to those trims, rather than every Maverick.
Hybrid and EcoBoost Engine Specifications

The 2.5-litre full hybrid combines a gasoline four-cylinder with an electric motor for 191 horsepower of system output. A power-split electric continuously variable transmission manages the powertrain, with AWD included on Lariat. This is a self-charging hybrid: it uses gasoline and regenerative braking and does not need an external charger. Its fuel tank holds approximately 52 litres.
The available 2.0-litre EcoBoost turbocharged four-cylinder produces 250 horsepower and 280 lb-ft of torque, paired with an eight-speed automatic and AWD. Its fuel tank holds approximately 62 litres. Ford’s published maximum output is subject to its fuel and test conditions; the standardized fuel-consumption ratings below use regular gasoline.
Towing and Payload
Maverick Lariat includes a trailer hitch receiver with four-pin connector and has a standard maximum towing capacity of 2,000 lb. Adding the optional 4K Tow Package raises the properly equipped maximum to 4,000 lb. Ford offers that package with AWD hybrid and AWD EcoBoost configurations. AWD alone does not give the truck the 4,000-lb rating.
When checked in Ford’s Canadian configurator, the 4K Tow Package was a $1,000 option on the hybrid Lariat. Package content and the vehicle’s towing documentation should be checked together, including the required trailer connections and equipment. A trailer’s loaded weight, rather than its empty weight, is the useful starting point.
Ford advertises up to 1,500 lb of payload across the Maverick range. An optioned Lariat can have a different allowance, so use its door-label payload figure. Occupants, cargo, accessories and trailer tongue weight share that allowance. The towing maximum and payload maximum should not be treated as two loads the truck can necessarily carry at the same time.
Fuel Economy
The 2026 Natural Resources Canada guide gives the Maverick Lariat hybrid AWD 6.0 L/100 km city, 7.3 highway and 6.6 combined. This is a trim-specific entry. The 5.9-L/100-km city figure used in some general Maverick advertising does not replace the Lariat AWD rating.
The 2.0-litre EcoBoost AWD is rated at 10.6 city, 7.8 highway and 9.4 combined. Both entries specify regular gasoline. These are standardized estimates rather than a guarantee; towing, winter conditions, payload and accessories can change consumption. Tremor has a separate rating and should not be used for this Lariat comparison.
Interior, Seating and Storage

Lariat seats five using ActiveX-trimmed front bucket seats and a rear bench. Smoked Truffle is one of its interior treatments. Standard equipment includes heated front seats, an eight-way power driver’s seat with power lumbar, a six-way manually adjustable passenger seat, a heated steering wheel and dual-zone automatic climate control.
The rear seat has a folding backrest and flip-up cushion with storage beneath it. That enclosed storage gives smaller items a place inside the cabin instead of leaving them in the open cargo box. An acoustic windshield, ambient lighting and Intelligent Access are also listed among Lariat’s convenience features. A power moonroof and rear sliding-window equipment are options rather than assumptions for every truck.

FLEXBED and Exterior Features

The cargo box measures 1,382 mm long, approximately 4.5 feet. Ford’s FLEXBED system uses a multi-position tailgate and provisions for organizing and securing loads. The Canadian Lariat builder includes a Tough Bed spray-in bedliner and bed tie-down locking rails with locking brackets. Hard and soft tonneau covers are available separately.
Standard wheels are 19-inch machined-painted aluminum with 225/55R19 tires. A Black Appearance Package changes the visual treatment and wheel finish. A bed cover, accessories or optional wheels can change the final price and payload, so their effect belongs in the comparison of actual builds.
Infotainment and Electrical Outlets

A 13.2-inch centre touchscreen runs SYNC 4, accompanied by an eight-inch digital instrument display. Lariat’s standard B&O audio system has eight speakers. The displays handle infotainment and vehicle information separately, while phone connectivity and voice controls provide alternatives to touchscreen input.
Lariat also includes 110-volt, 400-watt outlets in the rear console and cargo bed, useful for compatible low-power equipment. The wattage rating matters: these are not equivalent to the much higher-output systems offered in some larger trucks. Remote-start capability and Ford app connectivity are listed, while connected-service terms and phone compatibility should be checked for the functions a buyer intends to use.
Standard Safety and Driver Assistance
The Co-Pilot360 Assist 2.0 suite is standard on the Canadian Lariat. Ford lists adaptive cruise control, a 360-degree camera, automatic emergency braking, lane-keeping assistance, automatic high beams and blind-spot monitoring with trailer coverage and cross-traffic alert.
Additional listed functions include intersection assistance, exit warning, front and rear parking sensors, reverse brake assistance, rear cross-traffic braking and post-collision braking. These features add assistance in different situations, but they do not remove the driver’s responsibility to monitor traffic, pedestrians and the area around a trailer.
Pricing in CAD
The Canadian Ford builder displayed an EcoBoost Lariat starting price of $47,695. The selected hybrid configuration showed a $47,100 base MSRP plus $2,595 in fees, totaling $49,695 before optional paint and equipment. Its automatically selected $600 paint increased that example to $50,295. Adding the $1,000 4K Tow Package would increase the price again.
The same builder’s trim-selection screen displayed starting figures of $38,195 for XL, $40,195 for XLT, $44,495 for Lobo and $50,695 for Tremor. These figures are configuration and date dependent. Starting-price disclosures include applicable destination and manufacturer-listed levies, and may incorporate current adjustments or incentives. Dealer charges, options, registration and sales taxes need a separate quote. None of these figures is presented as the as-tested price of the video vehicle.
Competition and Buying Considerations
The Hyundai Santa Cruz is a direct compact-pickup alternative. Buyers considering a larger cargo box or trailer should also compare the Ford Ranger, Chevrolet Colorado, GMC Canyon, Toyota Tacoma and Nissan Frontier. Those midsize trucks differ in construction, towing equipment, dimensions and fuel consumption.
For the Maverick Lariat AWD, the main specification choice is between the hybrid’s lower rated fuel use and the EcoBoost’s higher horsepower. Both can offer 4,000-lb towing when correctly packaged. Before choosing, compare the installed tow package, actual payload label, cabin equipment and total CAD quote; the Lariat badge alone does not confirm every available feature.
